The gap between aerial and satellite photogrammetry is getting smaller as both systems have benefited from great technology improvements in the last years. However, the major advantage of earth observation satellites continues to be the possibility to acquire data virtually anywhere on the planet without considering border and logistical restrictions and over huge extensions. A pair of stereo images corresponding to a coastal area in the NW of Spain is the basis for this paper, which analyzes certain influential variables in the process of generating a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) from stereoscopic pairs of IKONOS images. The mathematical model, the number of Ground Control Points (GCPs) and their accuracies are analyzed through a sequence of experimental trials. Two main methods are applied for math modeling: a CCRS model (rigorous model) and a Rational Functions model. The influence of the GCPs’ positional quality is compared using two different information sources: points measured in 1:5,000 cartography and points surveyed via GPS. The number of GCPs tested varies between 0 and 20. Using different configurations of these variables, 17 models are generated. The best results are achieved with the rigorous model and 16 GCPs measured with GPS with an RMSE of 1.01 m (or an LE95 –Linear Error in Z at 95% confidence level- of 2 m), which is approximately the pixel size of the initial pair. The mathematical model was determined to be the variable with the most influence on accuracy. Moreover, the results suggest that the use of 10-16 GCPs is sufficient. Additional points do not improve the DEM accuracy or may even worsen it in certain cases. Although the study is carried out in a coastal zone, which restricts the GCPs’ distribution possibilities, the results are comparable with similar results from inland areas. This study has been carried out in the framework of the “Financial aid for the consolidation and structure of competitive units of investigation in the universities of the University Galician System (2016-18)” Ref. La imagen que de Egipto persiste todavía en la Europa Occidental hunde sus raíces, en gran parte, en la Antigua Grecia, en tanto en cuanto dicha imagen se ha configurado a partir de una serie de tópicos generados en el orbe griego. El objetivo del presente trabajo se centra en el estudio de estos tópicos en una novela actual, El amargo don de la belleza de Terenci Moix. The image of Egypt that still persists in Western Europe can, in the main, trace its roots to Ancient Greece, it being the case that this image in fact evolved from a series of clichés generated in the Greek world. The principal aim of this paper is to analyse instances of these clichés in a contemporary novel, Terenci Moix’s El amargo don de la belleza

This research deals with academic stress, as a process that is frequently expressed in the university environment, particularly in health careers. In this case, we report a mixed study, predominantly descriptive, whose objective was to describe the behavior of academic stress in students of the Escuela Superior de Enfermería No. 4 of Taxco, Guerrero. We worked with theoretical methods such as Historical-logical, Analysis-synthesis and Induction-deduction; also, with the Survey and statistical processing was carried out for the analysis of the information collected. We worked with a sample of 54 students, selected intentionally by convenience. The main results showed that, in the first place, academic stress is present and that it is mainly due to the high demands of the professors, the personality and character of the teachers, the form of evaluation and the excessive load of tasks and work. It is concluded that academic stress is a manifest phenomenon in these students and, therefore, further studies on the subject are required, as well as proposals that impact on this educational and health reality

El mito de Pigmalión en el filme Lars and the real girl (2007): revisión del motivo de la mujer artificial desde una perspectiva de género

This work focuses on the presence of the Pygmalion myth in Lars and the Real Girl (2007), a film directed by Craig Gillespie. The Pygmalion myth has been analyzed so far as a key narrative underlying the whole film. Since classical myths are mediated by a patriarchal, androcentric, and misogynistic gaze, a complementary/alternative gendered reading appears to be highly relevant in this case. Both the Pygmalion myth and the cinematic rewriting of it portray the real conditions of a society that has over the centuries been characterized for significant gender asymmetries and resistance tochange. In sum, we have engaged in a dialogue with our cultural tradition in order to foster awareness of gender discrimination. Grounded in a thorough process of analysis and reflection, we ultimately hope to shed new light on this subject while moving forward towards the creation of alternative scenarios.

Diet Supplementation with Polyphenol-Rich Salicornia ramosissima Extracts Protects against Tissue Damage in Experimental Models of Cerebral Ischemia

Strokes are the secondmost common cause of death worldwide and a leading cause of disability. Regular consumption of polyphenols has been shown to reduce the risk of suffering a cardiovascular event. For this reason, we have investigated the protective effect of Salicornia ramosissima, a seasonal halophyte that synthetizes high amounts of bioactive compounds, including polyphenols, in response to environmental stress. Aqueous, hydroalcoholic, and ethanolic extracts were prepared to investigate if dietary supplementation prior to ischemic challenge can prevent subsequent damage using two animal models. First, we screened the protective effect against hypoxia–reoxygenation in Drosophila melanogaster and observed that both ethanolic and hydroalcoholic extracts protected flies from the deleterious effects of hypoxia. Second, we confirmed the protective effect of S. ramosissima ethanolic extract against brain ischemia using the transient middle cerebral artery occlusion mice model. Four weeks of oral supplementation with the ethanolic extract before artery occlusion reduced infarct volume and lowered the plasma levels of the DNA peroxidant product 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine. Phytochemical profiling of S. ramosissima ethanolic extract revealed 50 compounds. Thus, it represents a valuable source of bioactive compounds that show promising disease-modifying activities and could be further developed as an effective food supplement for the prevention or treatment of neurovascular disorders.PE-0527-2019 Programa Operativo FEDERConsejería de Transformación Económica, Industria, Conocimiento y Universidades[PY20_01351]ISCIII, grant number [CD21/00148

Intervenção social. - ISSN 0874-1611. - N. 39 (1.º semestre 2012). - p. 29-44.The main aim of this artide is to report the experience of the international Project "Trainer of trainers in Social Work in the Eastern region of Morocco" which has been carried out from 2009 to 2011 and was undertaken at the request Df the Mohamed I University of Oujda and the social institutions of this region. This project is framed in the ART GOLO programme of UNOP, in accordance with the Millennium Goals, with the participation of the Spanish universities of Malaga, Seville and Granada, the Italian universities of Perugia and Si ena, and the social partners from Spain and Italy. One of the aims of this multilateral international collaboration project is to support Mohamed Premier University in developing Social Work as a discipline by using Social Work's distinctive areas and methodologies. Furthermore, as a social approach and as a local reinforcement, contributing to the training of social partners from local institutions and civil society. This experience highlights the risk, in the area of internationaI cooperation in social work, of kecping Western influences, dominant positions and emphasizes the need to develop indigenous theories and practices in the developing countries. The conclusions invite us to reflect on the epistemological and methodological dimensions that indentify Social Work worldwide and its suitability to d ifferent international contexts

This is the accepted manuscript of the following article: Arza-García, M., Gil-Docampo, M., & Ortiz-Sanz, J. (2019). A hybrid photogrammetry approach for archaeological sites: Block alignment issues in a case study (the Roman camp of A Cidadela). Journal Of Cultural Heritage. doi: 10.1016/j.culher.2019.01.001Photogrammetry is a cost-effective and versatile technique used for the threedimensional (3D) registration of archaeological heritage sites. Managing datasets of heterogeneous images in terms of camera type, elevation platform, position or acquisition time can now be addressed by structure from motion (SfM) software via bundle adjustment in a single block based on collinearity principles. This development enables new possibilities with regard to data completeness assurance for 3D documentation, even for complex sites with occlusive elements and hidden areas. However, hybrid photogrammetry in large datasets often requires multiple photogrammetric blocks that must be processed individually and subsequently aligned to obtain a unified point cloud. In this paper, we discuss the steps required to homogenize the information and the methods used to perform block alignment in these cases. A case study of low-altitude aerial photogrammetry with several cameras and platforms is presented for the Roman camp of A Cidadela in NW Spain as a representative example of an archaeological site that is difficult to survey using a single photogrammetric platform. The relatively large expanse of the area and the fact that it is partially covered by a protective structure constitute an ideal framework for the fusion of multiplatform imagery. The most accurate digital surface model (DSM) was obtained via point-based method fusion, during which subsets are aligned based on automatically extracted tie points (TPs) between the dense point clouds; however, point-based method fusion is very time consuming. When hardware capabilities allow, conducting the process in a single block is preferable, which is a noticeably more accurate procedure than independent block fusionThe study was supported by Xunta de Galicia under the "Financial aid for the consolidation and structure of competitive units of investigation in the universities of the University Galician System (2016-18)" grant Ref.
