Corporate Environmental Disclosure Practices in Different National Contexts: The Influence of Cultural Dimensions
The influence of different national contexts, including the effects of cultural environments,
on corporate environmental disclosure practices has yet to be properly addressed in the
literature. The purpose of this research is, therefore, to analyse how cultural factors affect
the environmental disclosure practices of companies in different countries. This research
is supported by the diversity of cultures across countries. Given that a cultural framework
prompts different organisational actions and strategies, the question to be answered through
this research is as follows: How do cultural aspects affect corporate environmental disclosure?
Cultural factors are precisely those that can explain similarities and differences between
stakeholders’ actions and preferences. The sample used in this research comprises companies in
28 countries and 9 economic sectors for the period 2004 to 2015. Our main findings show that
companies operating in countries with individualist, masculine and indulgent cultures are less
likely to disclose environmental information. Contrary to our predictions, cultures with a longterm orientation also discourage the reporting of environmental information, while uncertainty
avoidance contexts tend to promote more environmental reporting
Isolation of microorganisms or genes from environmental samples of various origins, able to degrade drugs or resist antibiotics
Motivation: The occurrence of drugs in the environment, due to the massive use of these by humans, has produced that these compounds accumulate and so, their removal is complicated [1]. None of the physical and chemical methods used to treat this contamination show an absolute efficiency. We decided to identify live microorganisms or biodegradations pathways able to degrade several pharmaceuticals and potentially useful in bioremediation of drugs contamination of the environment. For the isolation of live microorganisms, we have used different samples (water of a wastewater treatment plant, soil of a countryside contaminated with pesticides and pig slurry). In these samples, we can find persistent pharmaceuticals or compounds with structures which seem to drugs [2].On the other hand, from a metagenomic library, we have tried to find antibiotic resistance genes and/or biodegradation pathways that allow microorganisms to resist antibiotics or use drugs as carbon sources respectively. Methods: For the isolation of microorganisms able to use pharmaceuticals as carbon source, samples from different origin were incubated with a set of drugs. Enrichment cultures were prepared in minimal medium with a drug. When we observe growth differences between the control flask and the sample flask, we isolate colonies from cultures by plating in petri dishes. Once we obtain colonies, we identify microorganisms responsible the degradation of the drug. For the second strategy, we conjugate a metagenomic library containing 100.000 clones, from a composting pile from an oil refinery, with a receptor Escherichia coli and selected resistance to several antibiotics or ability to grow in minimal medium using different pharmaceuticals as carbon source. Results: We have obtained differential growth in flasks with ibuprofen and carbamazepine, indicating that these cultures could contain microorganisms able to growth using drug as carbon source and even as nitrogen source. In the second strategy, we have achieved transconjugants resistant to ceftriaxone and transconjugant able to grow in naproxen. Conclusions: Up to now, we have not succeeded to isolate microorganisms able to grow in different drugs as a carbon source, though we are still in the process of isolating from flasks IBU and CBZ.In the second strategy we have detected clones that confer resistance to CFX and a clone seems to confer the ability to grow in NPX as a carbon source, though both results are pending confirmation

Women in Andalusian Sources". ·This article gives a general overview of the various methodological approacheswhich have been employed in the study of Muslim and Jewish women in Medieval Spain. Then discussion will tum to the Spanish J ewish woman poet Qasmuna bat Isma' il.Este artículo ofrece, en primer lugar, un panorama general sobre la metodologíautilizada en el estudio de mujeres musulmanas y judías en la España medieval, paracentrarse, finalmente, en el caso de la poetisa hispano-hebrea Qasmuna bat Isma'il.Fulbrigh
Are Socially Responsible Behaviors Paid Off Equally? A Cross‐cultural Analysis
Based on the strong influence that national culture has on corporate social and responsibility (CSR) actions (institutional theory), it is necessary to study how the financial outcomes of CSR actions could be affected by these cultural characteristics. This fact is particularly interesting for managers whose companies operate in different cultures given that they have to deal with this aspect. The aim of this paper is to analyze the moderator role that national culture could have on the CSR and firm performance (CSR‐FP) relationship through a meta‐analysis, hence helping to clarify the debate existing about this relationship in the literature. The results show that this relationship is greatly affected by national culture. In this sense, countries with a high assertiveness and gender egalitarianism show a very negative relationship. Nevertheless, those with a higher future orientation, institutional collectivism, and a humane orientation reveal a positive correlation which reaches its maximum value in those countries with a high uncertainty avoidance
Corporate Social Responsibility and Financial Performance: A Cross-Cultural Analysis
Based on the geographic limitations of previous meta-analysis made about Corporate Social Responsibility
(CSR) and Financial Performance (FP) and on the evidence found in previous work on the country's
influence in this relationship, the aim of this paper is to analyze the relationship between these two variables
studying the possible moderating effect that the country variable may have on it.
By the use of the cultural dimensions of GLOBE (2004), we classify the countries, and test the hypothesis
through the statistical technique of meta-analysis. The results show that the country where the companies
are home-based moderates the relationship between CSR and FP. In particular from the results, we can
conclude that while in Australia, Canada, USA and the United Kingdom the relationship is stronger and
larger, in some countries, such as Japan, there is no relationship
The impact of the economic crisis on the environmental responsibility of the companies
The severe economic crisis is affecting significantly
to the environment in which companies have to continue with
their business. Consequently, academicians and managers are
worried about what is going to happen with the Social
Responsibility and particularly with the Environmental
Responsibility, due to the decrease in the financial performance
of the companies. The aim of this paper is to study the effect of
the crisis on the environmental behavior of the Spanish
companies through an explicative study, deepening in the
comparison between the years 2006 and 2010. As a result,
Spanish companies continue carrying out behaving in an
environmentally friendly way because their Environmental
Scores are growing, despite the decline of the Financial
Performance. Moreover, it is identified a change in the factors
that affect to the environmental behavior due to the identification
of less dependence on corporate financial performance

patients with Alzheimer’s disease. In spite of that, many caregivers suffer high levels of burden
and stress, which leads to an earlier institutionalization of patients. This study aimed to explore the
predictors of burden in relative caregivers of patients attending day-care centers and the moderating
role of caregiver kinship in these associations. A sample of a hundred and two patient–caregiver
dyads was recruited. Burden was measured with a Zarit Burden Interview. Measures of patients’
cognition, insight, depression, behavioral disturbances, functional ability and overall physical health
were considered as predictors. We found that apathy, irritability and delusions and, patients’ mobility
are the main determinants of caregivers’ burden. The strength of relationship between delusions and
irritability was higher in spouse caregivers. Interventions to reduce burden should be adapted to the
specific needs of a particular type caregiver
Trabajo Fin de Máster
Treball Final del Màster Universitari en Psicologia del Treball, de les Organitzacions i en Recursos Humans (Pla de 2014) (Presencial). Codi: SBE013.
profesional. In recent decades, the increasing globalization of society and the economy, the
strong development of information technology and communication and demographic,
social and cultural changes have been significant changes in the workplace, in
organizations and in labor relations. Therefore, Cascio (1995) revealed the new
demands posed by professional psychologists Labor Organizations and Human
Resources.
Study the Master in Psychology of Work, Organizations and Human Resources
aimed to prepare students as competent professional in Psychology of Work,
Organizations and Human Resources at the basic level.
In addition to providing a solid background in both theoretical knowledge and skills
related to the Psychology of Work, Organizations and Human Resources. As well as
the opportunity to practice some of the skills and roles required for professional
practice in the context of the Psychology of Work, Organizations and Human
Resources.
The ultimate goal of this work is being able to develop the skills of self-reflection on
the skills developed during the Masters and oral and written communication of the
outcome of my self-reflection.
Will revolve around the thematic views on the different subjects of the master,
emphasizing concrete evidence of its development.
Clearly, it is divided into two parts. On the one hand, a brief presentation of each of the
subjects studied highlighting key aspects of them. And on the other, a reflection of the
skills acquired during the stay in business and whether it has been possible to apply
the knowledge acquired in the master in his practice
