Analysis and Design of Hollow Reinforced Concrete Columns

    Get PDF
A hollow concrete section is oftenly used for column design, particularly for very tall bridge columns in earthquake prone areas for reducing the mass and to reduce the self-weight contribution to the inertial mode of vibration during an earthquake. The hollow columns enable to reduce foundation dimensions and thus save the construction cost substantially. Hence, these advantages have promoted the use of hollow columns instead of similar solid members in construction of building structures as well. This study includes analysis of a G+4 commercial building with solid columns analysed in ETABS2016. The analytical data is being used to design a hollow column for the same structure under worst load combinations using software CSICOL9. The best design is being proposed with advantages of hollow columns over solid columns

Steganography and Steganalysis : Different Approaches

    Get PDF
Steganography is the technique of hiding confidential information within any media. Steganography is often confused with cryptography because the two are similar in the way that they both are used to protect confidential information. The difference between the two is in the appearance in the processed output; the output of steganography operation is not apparently visible but in cryptography the output is scrambled so that it can draw attention. Steganlysis is process to detect of presence of steganography. In this article we have tried to elucidate the different approaches towards implementation of steganography using ‘multimedia’ file (text, static image, audio and video) and Network IP datagram as cover. Also some methods of steganalysis will be discussed

Introduction: In general, primary or secondary metabolites derived from medicinal plant products might be responsible for stimulating or suppressing the immune system against specific protein antigens. The objective of this study was to evaluate the adjuvant potential of aqueous leaves extract of Azadirachta indica, Butea frondosa and Ficus religiosa against Swine flu vaccine antigen. Methods: In this study, our group evaluated the antibody (IgG) titre of Swine flu vaccine antigen (2 μg/mL) using variable doses (0.625–5 mg) of aqueous leaves extract of A. indica, B. frondosa and F. religiosa. In addition, Swiss mice were immunized subcutaneously (100 μL) on day 0 with Swine flu vaccine antigen (1:1000 dilution). Splenocytes were collected on day 7 and cultured with variable doses of aqueous leaves extract of A. indica, B. frondosa and F. religiosa pertaining to determine the total cellular content and splenocyte proliferation (Swine flu vaccine; Ovalbumin, OVA and Con A) assay. In addition, estimation of Th1 (IFN-gamma and TNF alpha) cytokines in cell culture supernatant containing swine flu vaccine antigen along with aqueous leaves extract were measured. Results: Aqueous leaves extract of A. indica, B. frondosa and F. religiosa showed anti-Swine flu titre at higher doses. In ex vivo animal model studies these three medicinal plants in the form of aqueous leaves extract enhanced total cellular content at higher doses but increased in splenocyte proliferation (Swine flu vaccine, OVA and Con A) assay at lower doses. Similarly, there was enhancement in Th1 cytokines (IFN-gamma, TNF alpha) with respect to swine flu vaccine antigen containing aqueous extract at lower doses as compared to control group. Conclusion: Aqueous leaves extract of A. indica, B. frondosa and F. religiosa showed adjuvant activity against Swine flu vaccine antigen and might be used in manufacturing active adjuvant for vaccine antigen

    Get PDF
Objective: Objective of the present investigation was to enhance the solubility and dissolution rate of poorly water-soluble drug lornoxicam using liquisolid technique with comparative determination of in vitro release profile of liquisolid compacts and conventional formulation of lornoxicam. Methods: Formulation was prepared by a liquisolid technique using different drug concentration in a liquid vehicle and different carrier/coating ratio. Prepared liquisolid compact was evaluated for Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra analysis, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray diffraction (P-XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and in vitro dissolution study. Results: The result showed that liquisolid compacts of lornoxicam displayed significantly higher drug release rate as compared to pure drug and conventional tablet prepared. The results of both DSC and X-ray crystallography indicated loss of crystallinity of the drug upon formulated into the liquisolid compact. Conclusion: Dissolution rate of the drug from liquisolid compacts was affected by changing the drug concentration and excipient ratio. The liquisolid technique appeared to be a promising approach for improving the dissolution of poorly soluble drug lornoxicam

The active development of internet, advance smart hand held devices and multimedia technologies have made it possible to easily create, copy, transmit, and distribute multimedia data instantly. Besides all of these advantages, there are many undesired issues including the piracy of digital data. It creates as issue like protection rights of the content and ownership. This concern has drawn the attention of the researchers toward the development of multimedia protection schemes using digital watermark. In this paper, a new image watermarking algorithm is presented which is robust against various attacks. DWT and SVD have been used to embed two watermarks in the HL and LH bands of the host image. Simulation evaluation demonstrates that the proposed technique withstand various attacks

Background: Dermatophytosis is a common fungal infection in India, with prevalence ranging from 36.6% to 78.4%. Treatment options include topical and systemic antifungal agents such as amphotericin B, clotrimazole, miconazole, luliconazole, itraconazole, and terbinafine. With the availability of newer antifungal drugs, a drug utilization study is necessary to understand prescription patterns and promote rational use. Methods: This is a retrospective observational study conducted among the patients attending outpatient department of dermatology of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Mayo Hospital. Prescription of patients with diagnosis of tinea were collected using efficient digital database. These prescriptions were then analysed depending on their demographic profile, treatment and then results were evaluated with the help of MS Excel and results presented as percentage and proportion. Results: Total 3701 patients had tinea with 1658 females and 2043 males with majority of patients from 16 to 30 years of age. 81% medicine were prescribed using brand names with prescription containing maximum antifungal drugs followed by antihistaminic drugs. Most common drug prescribed was terbinafine (29%), followed by luliconazole (27.46%) and itraconazole (17%). Most commonly topical antifungal agents were prescribed as cream (35.80%) followed by as lotion (26.26%). Conclusions: Drug utilisation pattern study like this is very important for studying the varying prescription pattern in treatment of dermatophytosis and to make a first step towards uniform and rational drug prescription

The research work presented here includes data mining needs and study of their algorithm for various extraction purpose. It also includes work that has been done in the field of harvesting images from web. Here the proposed method is to harvest image databases from web. We can automatically generate a large number of images for a specified object. By applying concept of data mining and the algorithm from data mining which is used for extraction of data or harvesting images. A multimodal approach employing text ,metadata and visual  features is used to gather many high-quality images from the web. The modules can be made to find query images by selecting images where nearby text is top ranked by the topic i.e., formation of image clusters then download associate images by using approaches like web search, image search and Google images. Apply re-ranking algorithm and then filtering process to harvest the images.Currently, image search gives a very low precision (only about 4%) and is not used for the harvesting experiments. Since the movements of the technologies are growing rapidly the kinds of work also need to be grown up. This work shows an approach to harvest a large number of images of a particular class automatically and to achieve this with high precision by providing training databases so that a new object model can be learned effortlessly. Many other tools also are available for harvesting images from web .An approach in this paper is original and up to the mark. Get PDF
With number of moving vehicles, vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) is formed. These are provided with the wireless connections. Among various challenges in the VANET such as security and privacy of the messages, data forwarding is also considered as a major challenge. The effective communication is mainly depends on the how safely and fast the data is being forwarded among the vehicles. Data forwarding using Greedy mechanism suitable for routing in the VANETs, it depends only on the position of nodes and also data forwarding is done with minimum number of hops. In this paper, Position based GPCR and topology based DYMO routing protocol are adapted to make the use of Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) procedures. The resulting bio-inspired protocols, ACO_GPCR and ACO_DYMO had its performance evaluated and compared against existing GPCR and DYMO routing protocols. The obtained results suggest that making the use of ACO algorithm make these protocols more efficient in terms of Delay, Jitter, Packet Delivery Ratio and energy consumption
