Ion exchange system design for removal of heavy metals from acid mine drainage wastewater

    Get PDF
This paper discusses the methodology used to determine the optimal ion-exchange column size to process all separate batchesof feeds from acid mine drainage wastewater. The optimal design ensures the best utilization of resin material and therefore results in a minimum amount of spent resins.Ion exchanger materials have been studied for removing heavy metals from a metal bearing wastes. For the current treatment,a facility has been designed for the removal of heavy metals from the acid mine drainage (AMD) waste by the ion-exchange technology

Leaf extracts, stem extract, roots extract, latex and oil of Jatropha curcas, J. glandulufera, J. integerrima and J. gossypofolia were screened in order to study their effect on plant pathogenic fungi Alternaria alternata, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger, Fusarium oxysporum, and Rhizoctonia solani and plant pathogenic bacteria Erwinia carotovora pv. Carotovora, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Xanthomonas campestris pv. Citri and Xanthomonas campestris pv. mangiferaeindicae. Degree of variation of antifungal and antibacterial activity of different parts of Jatropha sp. was observed

Chemoselective C-benzoylation of phenols by using AlCl3 under solvent-free conditions

    Get PDF
Substituted phenols were chemo-selectively reacted with benzoylchloride in presence of aluminum chloride under solvent-free condition to afford the corresponding 2'-hydroxy aryl benzophenones in excellent yields (72-96%). Naphthol benzoylation resulted in lower yields as compared to phenols. Both reactions completed in 5-10 min with quantitative yields providing excellent control over regioselectivity of products. KEY WORDS: Chemoselective C-acylation, F-C reaction, Fries rearrangement Bull. A convenient method for lactonization of α-allyl esters using iodine in dimethyl- sulphoxide

    Get PDF
A simple method for the synthesis of α-γ-disubstituted-γ-butyrolactones by cyclization of α-allyl esters using iodine in dimethylsulphoxide is reported. This method is efficient and operationally simple in comparison to methods using transition metal complexes. KEY WORDS: γ-Butyrolactones, α-Allyl esters, Iodine, Dimethyl sulphoxide Bull. Chem. Soc. Inhibition Planktonic and Bio film Growth of Candida Albicans by Plant Extract Alone and in combination with Fluconazole

    Get PDF
This study was to evaluate the efficacy of Methanolic extract of G. superba L in combination with Fluconazole against biofilm development and mature biofilms of C. albicans. Synergism between MEGS and Fluconazole combination against biofilm formation was evident with FICI of 0.187. Combination of MEGS and Fluconazole did not have synergistic potential against mature biofilm growth, evidenced in FICI of 0.916. MIC of standard Fluconazole was found to be 0.5 and >0.5 in biofilm development and mature biofilm respectively

Attribute-Based Encryption Techniques in Cloud Computing Security : An Overview

    Get PDF
Abstract-Cloud computing is going to be very famous technology in IT enterprises. For an enterprise, the data stored is huge and it is very precious. All tasks are performed through networks. Hence, it becomes very important to have the secured use of data. In cloud computing, the most important concerns of security are data security and privacy. And also flexible and scalable, fine grained access control must be maintained in the cloud systems. For access control, being one of the classic research topics, many schemes have been proposed and implemented. There are policy based schemes have been proposed. In this paper, we are going to explore various schemes for encryption that consist of Attribute based encryption (ABE) and its types KP-ABE, CP-ABE. Further discussion consists of improvement in CP-ABE to CP-ASBE and to HASBE. A comparison table has been included for comparative study of these techniques

SPECTROSCOPIC DETERMINATION OF TOTAL PHENOL AND FLAVONOID CONTENTS OF CITRUS LIMON PEEL FROM NORTH EASTERN REGION OF INDIA

    Get PDF
Citrus fruit plants are valuable sources of phenolic and other biologically active compounds.  Phenolic compounds have been reported to have multiple biological effects. In this paper quantitative determination of phenols and flavonoids of citrus limon peel extracts was carried out using spectrophotometric method. The plant material was collected from Assam, north-eastern region of India. Total phenolic content was determined by Folin-Ciocalteau method and aluminium chloride method was used for flavonoid determination. Methanol and ethanol extracts of ripe and unripe peel of the plant contain high amount of phenol contents compared to acetone and ethyl acetate extracts. Methanol extract contains maximum and the ethyl acetate shows minimum amount of flavonoid contents. However, all the extracts show significant results. Key Words: Citrus limon, Phenol, Flavonoid, Catechol and Quercetin.Â
