Heterotic Black Horizons
We show that the supersymmetric near horizon geometry of heterotic black
holes is either an AdS_3 fibration over a 7-dimensional manifold which admits a
G_2 structure compatible with a connection with skew-symmetric torsion, or it
is a product R^{1,1} * S^8, where S^8 is a holonomy Spin(7) manifold,
preserving 2 and 1 supersymmetries respectively. Moreover, we demonstrate that
the AdS_3 class of heterotic horizons can preserve 4, 6 and 8 supersymmetries
provided that the geometry of the base space is further restricted. Similarly
R^{1,1} * S^8 horizons with extended supersymmetry are products of R^{1,1} with
special holonomy manifolds. We have also found that the heterotic horizons with
8 supersymmetries are locally isometric to AdS_3 * S^3 * T^4, AdS_3 * S^3 * K_3
or R^{1,1} * T^4 * K_3, where the radii of AdS_3 and S^3 are equal and the
dilaton is constant.Comment: 35 pages, latex. Minor alterations to equation (3.11) and section

Compactification on negatively curved manifolds
We show that string/M theory compactifications to maximally symmetric
space-times using manifolds whose scalar curvature is everywhere negative, must
have significant warping, large stringy corrections, or both.Comment: 18 pages, JHEP3.cl
Probing High Reheating Temperature Scenarios at the LHC with Long-Lived Staus
We investigate the possibility of probing high reheating temperature
scenarios at the LHC, in supersymmetric models where the gravitino is the
lightest supersymmetric particle, and the stau is the next-to-lightest
supersymmetric particle. In such scenarios, the big-bang nucleosynthesis and
the gravitino abundance give a severe upper bound on the gluino mass. We find
that, if the reheating temperature is \sim 10^8 GeV or higher, the scenarios
can be tested at the LHC with an integrated luminosity of O(1 fb^{-1}) at
\sqrt{s}=7 TeV in most of the parameter space.Comment: 17 pages, 5 figures, minor modification
Higher Dimensional Cylindrical or Kasner Type Electrovacuum Solutions
We consider a D dimensional Kasner type diagonal spacetime where metric
functions depend only on a single coordinate and electromagnetic field shares
the symmetries of spacetime. These solutions can describe static cylindrical or
cosmological Einstein-Maxwell vacuum spacetimes. We mainly focus on
electrovacuum solutions and four different types of solutions are obtained in
which one of them has no four dimensional counterpart. We also consider the
properties of the general solution corresponding to the exterior field of a
charged line mass and discuss its several properties. Although it resembles the
same form with four dimensional one, there is a difference on the range of the
solutions for fixed signs of the parameters. General magnetic field vacuum
solution are also briefly discussed, which reduces to Bonnor-Melvin magnetic
universe for a special choice of the parameters. The Kasner forms of the
general solution are also presented for the cylindrical or cosmological cases.Comment: 16 pages, Revtex. Text and references are extended, Published versio
Neutralino versus axion/axino cold dark matter in the 19 parameter SUGRA model
We calculate the relic abundance of thermally produced neutralino cold dark
matter in the general 19 parameter supergravity (SUGRA-19) model. A scan over
GUT scale parameters reveals that models with a bino-like neutralino typically
give rise to a dark matter density \Omega_{\tz_1}h^2\sim 1-1000, i.e. between 1
and 4 orders of magnitude higher than the measured value. Models with higgsino
or wino cold dark matter can yield the correct relic density, but mainly for
neutralino masses around 700-1300 GeV. Models with mixed bino-wino or
bino-higgsino CDM, or models with dominant co-annihilation or A-resonance
annihilation can yield the correct abundance, but such cases are extremely hard
to generate using a general scan over GUT scale parameters; this is indicative
of high fine-tuning of the relic abundance in these cases. Requiring that
m_{\tz_1}\alt 500 GeV (as a rough naturalness requirement) gives rise to a
minimal probably dip in parameter space at the measured CDM abundance. For
comparison, we also scan over mSUGRA space with four free parameters. Finally,
we investigate the Peccei-Quinn augmented MSSM with mixed axion/axino cold dark
matter. In this case, the relic abundance agrees more naturally with the
measured value. In light of our cumulative results, we conclude that future
axion searches should probe much more broadly in axion mass, and deeper into
the axion coupling.Comment: 23 pages including 17 .eps figure
Wilson-loop formalism for Reggeon exchange in soft high-energy scattering
We derive a nonperturbative expression for the non-vacuum,
qqbar-Reggeon-exchange contribution to the meson-meson elastic scattering
amplitude at high energy and low momentum transfer, in the framework of QCD.
Describing the mesons in terms of colourless qqbar dipoles, the problem is
reduced to the two-fermion-exchange contribution to the dipole-dipole
scattering amplitudes, which is expressed as a path integral, over the
trajectories of the exchanged fermions, of the expectation value of a certain
Wilson loop. We also show how the resulting expression can be reconstructed
from a corresponding quantity in the Euclidean theory, by means of analytic
continuation. Finally, we make contact with previous work on Reggeon exchange
in the gauge/gravity duality approach.Comment: A few misprints in the expressions for the relevant Wilson loops have

Real-world data using mHealth apps in rhinitis, rhinosinusitis and their multimorbidities
Digital health is an umbrella term which encompasses eHealth and benefits from areas such as advanced computer sciences. eHealth includes mHealth apps, which offer the potential to redesign aspects of healthcare delivery. The capacity of apps to collect large amounts of longitudinal, real-time, real-world data enables the progression of biomedical knowledge. Apps for rhinitis and rhinosinusitis were searched for in the Google Play and Apple App stores, via an automatic market research tool recently developed using JavaScript. Over 1500 apps for allergic rhinitis and rhinosinusitis were identified, some dealing with multimorbidity. However, only six apps for rhinitis (AirRater, AllergyMonitor, AllerSearch, Husteblume, MASK-air and Pollen App) and one for rhinosinusitis (Galenus Health) have so far published results in the scientific literature. These apps were reviewed for their validation, discovery of novel allergy phenotypes, optimisation of identifying the pollen season, novel approaches in diagnosis and management (pharmacotherapy and allergen immunotherapy) as well as adherence to treatment. Published evidence demonstrates the potential of mobile health apps to advance in the characterisation, diagnosis and management of rhinitis and rhinosinusitis patients.© 2022 The Authors. Stochastic Gravity: Theory and Applications
Whereas semiclassical gravity is based on the semiclassical Einstein equation
with sources given by the expectation value of the stress-energy tensor of
quantum fields, stochastic semiclassical gravity is based on the
Einstein-Langevin equation, which has in addition sources due to the noise
kernel. In the first part, we describe the fundamentals of this new theory via
two approaches: the axiomatic and the functional. In the second part, we
describe three applications of stochastic gravity theory. First, we consider
metric perturbations in a Minkowski spacetime: we compute the two-point
correlation functions for the linearized Einstein tensor and for the metric
perturbations. Second, we discuss structure formation from the stochastic
gravity viewpoint. Third, we discuss the backreaction of Hawking radiation in
the gravitational background of a quasi-static black hole.Comment: 75 pages, no figures, submitted to Living Reviews in Relativit
Theorems on existence and global dynamics for the Einstein equations
This article is a guide to theorems on existence and global dynamics of
solutions of the Einstein equations. It draws attention to open questions in
the field. The local-in-time Cauchy problem, which is relatively well
understood, is surveyed. Global results for solutions with various types of
symmetry are discussed. A selection of results from Newtonian theory and
special relativity that offer useful comparisons is presented. Treatments of
global results in the case of small data and results on constructing spacetimes
with prescribed singularity structure or late-time asymptotics are given. A
conjectural picture of the asymptotic behaviour of general cosmological
solutions of the Einstein equations is built up. Some miscellaneous topics
connected with the main theme are collected in a separate section.Comment: Submitted to Living Reviews in Relativity, major update of Living
