Stability and Startup of Non Linear Loop Circuits
The reliable analysis of DC operating point in circuits with positive feedback topology is often challenging, and frequently performed with ad hoc methods. These techniques are often error prone and lead to the frequent use of sub-optimal or unnecessary additional circuits for the stabilization or determination of the operating point (startup circuits). We present a simple and reliable technique for the determination of “stable” circuit solutions, that is based on the use of available circuit simulators and hence takes advantage of accurate device models. The method has been experimentally validated on a self-biasing current generator fabricated with a standard 0.18 μm CMOS process

Growth of high-density carbon nanotube forests on conductive TiSiN supports
This is the accepted manuscript. The final version is available at http://scitation.aip.org/content/aip/journal/apl/106/8/10.1063/1.4913762.We grow vertically aligned carbon nanotube forests on refractory conductive films of TiSiN and achieve area densities of (5.1 ± 0.1) × 1012 tubes cm−2 and mass densities of about 0.3 g cm−3. The TiSiN films act as diffusion barriers limiting catalyst diffusion into the bulk of the support, and their low surface energy favours catalyst de-wetting, inducing forests to grow by the root growth mechanism. The nanotube area density is maximised by an additional discontinuous AlOx layer, which inhibits catalyst nanoparticle sintering by lateral surface diffusion. The forests and the TiSiN support show ohmic conduction. These results suggest that TiSiN is the favoured substrate for nanotube forest growth on conductors and liable of finding real applications in microelectronics.The authors acknowledge funding from European project Grafol. Non-Redundant Spectral Dimensionality Reduction
Spectral dimensionality reduction algorithms are widely used in numerous
domains, including for recognition, segmentation, tracking and visualization.
However, despite their popularity, these algorithms suffer from a major
limitation known as the "repeated Eigen-directions" phenomenon. That is, many
of the embedding coordinates they produce typically capture the same direction
along the data manifold. This leads to redundant and inefficient
representations that do not reveal the true intrinsic dimensionality of the
data. In this paper, we propose a general method for avoiding redundancy in
spectral algorithms. Our approach relies on replacing the orthogonality
constraints underlying those methods by unpredictability constraints.
Specifically, we require that each embedding coordinate be unpredictable (in
the statistical sense) from all previous ones. We prove that these constraints
necessarily prevent redundancy, and provide a simple technique to incorporate
them into existing methods. As we illustrate on challenging high-dimensional
scenarios, our approach produces significantly more informative and compact
representations, which improve visualization and classification tasks

A partial wave analysis is presented of and
from a sample of 58M events in the BES II detector. The
is observed clearly in both sets of data, and parameters of the
Flatt\' e formula are determined accurately: (stat)
(syst) MeV/c, MeV/c, . The data also exhibit a strong peak
centred at MeV/c. It may be fitted with and a
dominant signal made from interfering with a smaller
component. There is evidence that the signal is
resonant, from interference with . There is also a state in with MeV/c and
MeV/c; spin 0 is preferred over spin 2. This state, , is
distinct from . The data contain a strong peak due to
. A shoulder on its upper side may be fitted by interference

Measurement of the Branching Fraction of J/psi --> pi+ pi- pi0
Using 58 million J/psi and 14 million psi' decays obtained by the BESII
experiment, the branching fraction of J/psi --> pi+ pi- pi0 is determined. The
result is (2.10+/-0.12)X10^{-2}, which is significantly higher than previous

First Measurements of eta_c Decaying into K^+K^-2(pi^+pi^-) and 3(pi^+pi^-)
The decays of eta_c to K^+K^-2(pi^+pi^-) and 3(pi^+pi^-) are observed for the
first time using a sample of 5.8X10^7 J/\psi events collected by the BESII
detector. The product branching fractions are determined to be B(J/\psi-->gamma
eta_c)*B(eta_c-->K^+K^-pi^+pi^-pi^+pi^-)=(1.21+-0.32+-
0.23)X10^{-4}, and (J/\psi-->gamma eta_c)*
B(eta_c-->pi^+pi^-pi^+pi^-pi^+pi^-)= (2.59+-0.32+-0.48)X10^{-4}. The upper
limit for eta_c-->phi pi^+pi^-pi^+pi^- is also obtained as B(J/\psi-->gamma
eta_c)*B(eta_c--> phi pi^+pi^-pi^+pi^-)< 6.03 X10^{-5} at the 90% confidence

Human-robot shared control for surgical robot based on context-aware sim-to-real adaptation
Human-robot shared control, which integrates the advantages of both humans and robots, is an effective approach to facilitate efficient surgical operation. Learning from demonstration (LfD) techniques can be used to automate some of the surgical sub tasks for the construction of the shared control mechanism. However, a sufficient amount of data is required for the robot to learn the manoeuvres. Using a surgical simulator to collect data is a less resource-demanding approach. With sim-to-real adaptation, the manoeuvres learned from a simulator can be transferred to a physical robot. To this end, we propose a sim-to-real adaptation method to construct a human-robot shared control framework for robotic surgery. In this paper, a desired trajectory is generated from a simulator using LfD method, while dynamic motion primitives (DMP) is used to transfer the desired trajectory from the simulator to the physical robotic platform. Moreover, a role adaptation mechanism is developed such that the robot can adjust its role according to the surgical operation contexts predicted by a neural network model. The effectiveness of the proposed framework is validated on the da Vinci Research Kit (dVRK). Results of the user studies indicated that with the adaptive human-robot shared control framework, the path length of the remote controller, the total clutching number and the task completion time can be reduced significantly. First observation of psi(2S)-->K_S K_L
The decay psi(2S)-->K_S K_L is observed for the first time using psi(2S) data
collected with the Beijing Spectrometer (BESII) at the Beijing Electron
Positron Collider (BEPC); the branching ratio is determined to be
B(psi(2S)-->K_S K_L) = (5.24\pm 0.47 \pm 0.48)\times 10^{-5}. Compared with
J/psi-->K_S K_L, the psi(2S) branching ratio is enhanced relative to the
prediction of the perturbative QCD ``12%'' rule. The result, together with the
branching ratios of psi(2S) decays to other pseudoscalar meson pairs
(\pi^+\pi^- and K^+K^-), is used to investigate the relative phase between the
three-gluon and the one-photon annihilation amplitudes of psi(2S) decays.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, 2 tables, submitted to Phys. Rev. Let
Study of psi(2S) decays to X J/psi
Using J/psi -> mu^+ mu^- decays from a sample of approximately 4 million
psi(2S) events collected with the BESI detector, the branching fractions of
psi(2S) -> eta J/psi, pi^0 pi^0 J/psi, and anything J/psi normalized to that of
psi(2S) -> pi^+ pi^- J/psi are measured. The results are B(psi(2S) -> eta
J/psi)/B(psi(2S) -> pi^+ pi^- J/psi) = 0.098 \pm 0.005 \pm 0.010, B(psi(2S) ->
pi^0 pi^0 J/psi)/B(psi(2S) -> pi^+ pi^- J/psi) = 0.570 \pm 0.009 \pm 0.026, and
B(psi(2S) -> anything J/psi)/B(psi(2S) -> pi^+ pi^- J/psi) = 1.867 \pm 0.026

Structure of hadron resonances with a nearby zero of the amplitude
We discuss the relation between the analytic structure of the scattering
amplitude and the origin of an eigenstate represented by a pole of the
amplitude.If the eigenstate is not dynamically generated by the interaction in
the channel of interest, the residue of the pole vanishes in the zero coupling
limit. Based on the topological nature of the phase of the scattering
amplitude, we show that the pole must encounter with the
Castillejo-Dalitz-Dyson (CDD) zero in this limit. It is concluded that the
dynamical component of the eigenstate is small if a CDD zero exists near the
eigenstate pole. We show that the line shape of the resonance is distorted from
the Breit-Wigner form as an observable consequence of the nearby CDD zero.
Finally, studying the positions of poles and CDD zeros of the KbarN-piSigma
amplitude, we discuss the origin of the eigenstates in the Lambda(1405) region.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures, v2: published versio
