Upgrade to the SHARP EUV mask microscope
The Sharp High-NA Actinic Reticle review Project (SHARP) is a synchrotron-based, extreme ultraviolet (EUV) microscope dedicated to photomask research. A potential upgrade to the SHARP microscope is presented. The upgrade includes changing the light path in the instrument from its current off-Axis configuration to an on-Axis configuration. This change allows for an increased working distance of 2.5 mm or more. A central obscuration, added to the zoneplate aperture, blocks stray light from reaching the central part of the image, thus improving the image contrast. The imaging performance of the two configurations is evaluated by means of ray tracing
Equatorial X-rays and their effect on the lower mesosphere
On the night of May 23/24, 1975, a sequence of rocket and balloon experiments was launched from Chilca Base, Peru (12.5 deg S, 76.8 deg W, magnetic dip = - 0.7 deg). Detailed analysis and comparisons of the data yielded the first direct measurement of lower mesospheric response to a galactic X-ray source. This result could only have been determined at the equator, where cosmic ray background effects are minimal. The objective of the experiments was to seek out the equatorial energetic electron belt, sporadically reported to contain fluxes near auroral levels, measure the bremsstrahlung radiation produced by this particle belt, and determine the influence of this radiation on the middle atmosphere. High altitude rocket payloads (Nike Tomahawk 18.170 and 18.171) were launched to probe the thermosphere during and following the anticipated downward drift period. Each carried an on-axis X-ray scintillation detector and Geiger Mueller energetic electron detectors. Magnetometers and lunar sensors were used to determine payload aspect
The Goldberg-Sachs theorem in linearized gravity
The Goldberg-Sachs theorem has been very useful in constructing algebraically
special exact solutions of Einstein vacuum equation. Most of the physical
meaningful vacuum exact solutions are algebraically special. We show that the
Goldberg-Sachs theorem is not true in linearized gravity. This is a remarkable
result, which gives light on the understanding of the physical meaning of the

Multi-agent system for dynamic manufacturing system optimization
This paper deals with the application of multi-agent system concept for optimization of dynamic uncertain process. These problems are known to have a computationally demanding objective function, which could turn to be infeasible when large problems are considered. Therefore, fast approximations to the objective function are required. This paper employs bundle of intelligent systems algorithms tied together in a multi-agent system. In order to demonstrate the system, a metal reheat furnace scheduling problem is adopted for highly demanded optimization problem. The proposed multi-agent approach has been evaluated for different settings of the reheat furnace scheduling problem. Particle Swarm Optimization, Genetic Algorithm with different classic and advanced versions: GA with chromosome differentiation, Age GA, and Sexual GA, and finally a Mimetic GA, which is based on combining the GA as a global optimizer and the PSO as a local optimizer. Experimentation has been performed to validate the multi-agent system on the reheat furnace scheduling problem

Einstein vacuum equations in a closed form. Following the Dirac approach to

General relativity on a null surface: Hamiltonian formulation in the teleparallel geometry
The Hamiltonian formulation of general relativity on a null surface is
established in the teleparallel geometry. No particular gauge conditons on the
tetrads are imposed, such as the time gauge condition. By means of a 3+1
decomposition the resulting Hamiltonian arises as a completely constrained
system. However, it is structurally different from the the standard
Arnowitt-Deser-Misner (ADM) type formulation. In this geometrical framework the
basic field quantities are tetrads that transform under the global SO(3,1) and

Quantity and Price Adjustment in Long-Term Contracts: A Case Study of Petroleum Coke
Much economic activity takes place within a framework of complex, long-term contracts. While economists have shown increased interest in these contracts, surprisingly little is known about them, or, indeed, about how to analyze the contracting activity of private economic actors. A case study of the actual contracts used in one industry could provide sorely needed data about the way in which reasonably clever businessmen and lawyers cope with problems scholars might consider intractable. In this article, we provide such an analysis of contracts concerning a particular product – petroleum coke. We focus on the problems of quantity and price adjustment. We do not deal, except in passing, with the question of why the parties chose long-term contracts rather than short-term agreements or vertical integration by contract rather than by ownership
L^p boundedness of the wave operator for the one dimensional Schroedinger operator
Given a one dimensional perturbed Schroedinger operator H=-(d/dx)^2+V(x) we
consider the associated wave operators W_+, W_- defined as the strong L^2
limits as s-> \pm\infty of the operators e^{isH} e^{-isH_0} We prove that the
wave operators are bounded operators on L^p for all 1<p<\infty, provided
(1+|x|)^2 V(x) is integrable, or else (1+|x|)V(x) is integrable and 0 is not a
resonance. For p=\infty we obtain an estimate in terms of the Hilbert
transform. Some applications to dispersive estimates for equations with
