Exploration and Production Thesaurus : its helpfulness in indexing in a Library and information System
Exploration and Production (E & P) thesaurus published by the Information Service Department, University of Tulsa, is one of the most comprehensive thesaurus in its coverage on the exploration, development and production of crude oil and natural gas. The thesaurus is in continuous use in the Library of the Oil and Natural Gas Commission for indexing the literature and in the development of special schemes of classification for local use. The paper indicates the usefulness of the thesaurus for indexing the entries covered in the various bibliographies and for the preparation of a special scheme of classification for Exploration Geophysic
Have we succeeded in controlling anaemia in pregnancy - a prospective study at tertiary care center
Background: WHO has accepted up to 11 gm% as the normal haemoglobin level in pregnancy. Therefore any haemoglobin level below 11 gm% in pregnancy should be considered as anaemia. Objective of current study was to determine prevalence of anaemia in pregnancy and various associated sociodemographic factors.Method: A prospective study was carried out at GSVM Medical College, Kanpur during period Jan 2013 to August 2014. During this period all antenatal patients (4300) who came in outdoor and indoor were included in the study. Prevalence of anaemia among them and its associated sociodemographic factors were studied.Result: In the current study we found the prevalence of anaemia in pregnant females was 92% of which most were moderately anemic (70%) and belonged to age group 24-28 years of age, of higher parity, were of low socioeconomic status(80%), illiterate and from rural areas (54.4%). Anaemia was more prevalent in early age group because of early marriages & in late age group because of multiple birthsConclusion: Despite of various National Nutritional Anaemia Prophylaxix programme in India, anaemia is still a significant challenge during pregnancy presenting mother and fetus at a greater risk of maternal and perinatal mortality and morbidity
Perturbative quantum gauge invariance: Where the ghosts come from
A condensed introduction to quantum gauge theories is given in the
perturbative S-matrix framework; path integral methods are used nowhere. This
approach emphasizes the fact that it is not necessary to start from classical
gauge theories which are then subject to quantization, but it is also possible
to recover the classical group structure and coupling properties from purely
quantum mechanical principles. As a main tool we use a free field version of
the Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin gauge transformation, which contains no
interaction terms related to a coupling constant. This free gauge
transformation can be formulated in an analogous way for quantum
electrodynamics, Yang-Mills theories with massless or massive gauge bosons and

Development of Disposable Sorbents for Chloride Removal from High-Temperature Coal-Derived Gases
The integrated coal-gasification combined-cycle approach is an efficient process for producing electric power from coal by gasification, followed by high-temperature removal of gaseous impurities, then electricity generation by gas turbines. Alternatively, molten carbonate fuel cells (MCFC) may be used instead of gas turbine generators. The coal gas must be treated to remove impurities such as hydrogen chloride (HCl), a reactive, corrosive, and toxic gas, which is produced during gasification from chloride species in the coal. HCl vapor must be removed to meet environmental regulations, to protect power generation equipments such as fuel cells or gas turbines, and to minimize deterioration of hot coal gas desulfurization sorbents. The objectives of this study are to: (1) investigate methods to fabricate reactive sorbent pellets or granules that are capable of reducing HCl vapor in high-temperature coal gas streams to less than 1 ppm in the temperature range 400{degrees}C to 650{degrees}C and the pressure range 1 to 20 atm; (2) testing their suitability in bench-scale fixed- or fluidized-bed reactors; (3) testing a superior sorbent in a circulating fluidized- bed reactor using a gas stream from an operating coal gasifier; and (4) updating the economics of high temperature HCl removal
Aspects of electrostatics in a weak gravitational field
Several features of electrostatics of point charged particles in a weak,
homogeneous, gravitational field are discussed using the Rindler metric to
model the gravitational field. Some previously known results are obtained by
simpler and more transparent procedures and are interpreted in an intuitive
manner. Specifically: (i) We show that the electrostatic potential of a charge
at rest in the Rindler frame is expressible as A_0=(q/l) where l is the affine
parameter distance along the null geodesic from the charge to the field point.
(ii) We obtain the sum of the electrostatic forces exerted by one charge on
another in the Rindler frame and discuss its interpretation. (iii) We show how
a purely electrostatic term in the Rindler frame appears as a radiation term in
the inertial frame. (In part, this arises because charges at rest in a weak
gravitational field possess additional weight due to their electrostatic
energy. This weight is proportional to the acceleration and falls inversely
with distance -- which are the usual characteristics of a radiation field.)
(iv) We also interpret the origin of the radiation reaction term by extending
our approach to include a slowly varying acceleration. Many of these results
might have possible extensions for the case of electrostatics in an arbitrary

Catalytic Ammonia Decomposition for Coal-Derived Fuel Gases
The objective of this study is to develop and demonstrate catalytic approaches for decomposing a significant percentage (up to 90 percent) of the NH{sub 3} present in fuel gas to N{sub 2} and H{sub 2} at elevated temperatures (550 to 900{degrees}C). The NH{sub 3} concentration considered in this study was {similar_to}1,800 to 2,000 ppmv, which is typical of oxygen-blown, entrained-flow gasifiers such as the Texaco coal gasifier being employed at the TECO Clean Coal Technology Demonstration plant. Catalysts containing Ni, Co, Mo, and W were candidates for the study. Before undertaking any experiments, a detailed thermodynamic evaluation was conducted to determine the concentration of NH{sub 3} in equilibrium with the Texaco gasifier coal gas. Thermodynamic evaluations were also performed to evaluate the stability of the catalytic phases (for the various catalysts under consideration) under NH3 decomposition conditions to be used in this study. Two catalytic approaches for decomposing NH{sub 3} have been experimentally evaluated. The first approach evaluated during the early phases of this project involved the screening of catalysts that could be combined with the hot-gas desulfurization sorbents (e.g., zinc titanate) for simultaneous NH{sub 3} and H{sub 2}S removal. In a commercial system, this approach would reduce capital costs by eliminating a process step. The second approach evaluated was high-temperature catalytic decomposition at 800 to 900{degrees} C. In a commercial hot-gas cleanup system this could be carried out after radiative cooling of the gas to 800 to 900{degrees}C but up stream of the convective cooler, the hot particulate filter, and the hot-gas desulfurization reactor. Both approaches were tested in the presence of up to 7,500 ppmv H{sub 2}S in simulated fuel gas or actual fuel gas from a coal gasifier
Medical Store Management: An Integrated Economic Analysis of a Tertiary Care Hospital in Central India
Economic analysis plays a pivotal role in the management of medical store. The main objectives of this study were to consider always better control-vital, essential and desirable (ABC-VED) analysis with economic order quantity (EOQ), comparison of indexed cost and the actual cost, and to assess the expenditure for the forthcoming years. Based on cost and criticality, a matrix of nine groups by combining ABC and VED analysis was formulated. Drug categories were narrowed down for prioritization to direct supervisory monitoring. The subgroups AE and AV of the categories category I and II should be ordered based on EOQ. The difference between the actual annual drug expenditure (ADE) and the derived indexed cost using the cost inflation index (CII) was calculated. Linear regression was used to assess the expenditure for the forth coming years. The total ADE for the financial year of 2010–2011 was Rs. 1,91,44,253 which was only 7.68% of annual hospital expenditure. Using the inflation index, the indexed cost of acquisition of ADE for year 2010–2011 was Rs. 1,95,10,387. The difference between the two was estimated to be 2.11%. Thus, the CII justifies the demand of increased budget for next year and prompts us for cautious use of drugs. By taking into consideration the ADE of last 10 years, we have forecasted the budget for forthcoming years which will help significantly for making policies according to the available budget
A Pearson-Dirichlet random walk
A constrained diffusive random walk of n steps and a random flight in Rd,
which can be expressed in the same terms, were investigated independently in
recent papers. The n steps of the walk are identically and independently
distributed random vectors of exponential length and uniform orientation.
Conditioned on the sum of their lengths being equal to a given value l,
closed-form expressions for the distribution of the endpoint of the walk were
obtained altogether for any n for d=1, 2, 4 . Uniform distributions of the
endpoint inside a ball of radius l were evidenced for a walk of three steps in
2D and of two steps in 4D. The previous walk is generalized by considering step
lengths which are distributed over the unit (n-1) simplex according to a
Dirichlet distribution whose parameters are all equal to q, a given positive
value. The walk and the flight above correspond to q=1. For any d >= 3, there
exist, for integer and half-integer values of q, two families of
Pearson-Dirichlet walks which share a common property. For any n, the d
components of the endpoint are jointly distributed as are the d components of a
vector uniformly distributed over the surface of a hypersphere of radius l in a
space Rk whose dimension k is an affine function of n for a given d. Five
additional walks, with a uniform distribution of the endpoint in the inside of
a ball, are found from known finite integrals of products of powers and Bessel
functions of the first kind. They include four different walks in R3 and two
walks in R4. Pearson-Liouville random walks, obtained by distributing the total

Search for R-Parity Violating Decays of Scalar Fermions at LEP
A search for pair-produced scalar fermions under the assumption that R-parity
is not conserved has been performed using data collected with the OPAL detector
at LEP. The data samples analysed correspond to an integrated luminosity of
about 610 pb-1 collected at centre-of-mass energies of sqrt(s) 189-209 GeV. An
important consequence of R-parity violation is that the lightest supersymmetric
particle is expected to be unstable. Searches of R-parity violating decays of
charged sleptons, sneutrinos and squarks have been performed under the
assumptions that the lightest supersymmetric particle decays promptly and that
only one of the R-parity violating couplings is dominant for each of the decay
modes considered. Such processes would yield final states consisting of
leptons, jets, or both with or without missing energy. No significant
single-like excess of events has been observed with respect to the Standard
Model expectations. Limits on the production cross- section of scalar fermions
in R-parity violating scenarios are obtained. Constraints on the supersymmetric
particle masses are also presented in an R-parity violating framework analogous
