Crew procedures and workload of retrofit concepts for microwave landing system

    Get PDF
Crew procedures and workload for Microwave Landing Systems (MLS) that could be retrofitted into existing transport aircraft were evaluated. Two MLS receiver concepts were developed. One is capable of capturing a runway centerline and the other is capable of capturing a segmented approach path. Crew procedures were identified and crew task analyses were performed using each concept. Crew workload comparisons were made between the MLS concepts and an ILS baseline using a task-timeline workload model. Workload indexes were obtained for each scenario. The results showed that workload was comparable to the ILS baseline for the MLS centerline capture concept, but significantly higher for the segmented path capture concept

An Overview of Current Louisiana Law Regarding Implied Lease Obligations

    Get PDF
This paper explores how mineral lessees in Louisiana may use the physical, futures and financial markets for natural gas, as well as gathering issues that arise before the point of sale. Mr. Leland Horton\u27s portion of this presentation puts those issues in the context of the statutory and jurisprudential authority governing the relationship between mineral lessor and lessee. We may raise more questions than answers and we advocate more of a case by case analysis than a bright line rule. But we believe that this is a fertile area of the law that deserves discussion and debate

An Economic Analysis of Some Aspects of Medical Service Availability in Northwest South Dakota

    Get PDF
A community which has its own hospital and doctor is benefited in many ways. First, the people in the community are near medical care in times of emergency. Second, hospital patients from the community are near family and friends when receiving care. Third, a community may be benefited economically by the presence of a hospital facility because additional jobs are provided, and people from the surrounding area are given increased incentive to come to the town in purchasing other goods. Also, adequate medical services are of importance in attracting new industry into a town. The trend today, however, is away from the concept of the small hospital and one doctor for each town. The modern practice of medicine requires specialization of equipment and personnel to a degree not practical in many small town situations
