    Class II treatment by palatal miniscrew-system appliance: A case report

    This case shows that using a rapid palatal expander (RPE) and then a pendulum appliance anchored to palatal miniscrews is an option for improving treatment management in a noncompliant patient requiring maxillary expansion and molar distalization in the late mixed dentition. First, an RPE was used to expand the maxillary arch. Then, a modified pendulum appliance was used to distalize the maxillary first permanent molars. Optimal positioning of two palatal miniscrews enabled both appliances to be supported by skeletal anchorage. Treatment was finished using multibracket fixed appliances, and after 2 years, skeletal Class I as well as dental Class I canine and molar relationships were achieved

    Using a single bone-borne maxillary appliance with twofold mechanics, that is, rapid palatal expander and nonfrictional distalizing appliance (Pendulum) is a valuable option to treat young-adult patients with poor compliance. In this particular case, the same appliance was used to disinclude 2.3, eliminating reaction forces on the arch. Therefore, the first expansive phase was followed by the distalizing phase. After enough space was obtained for the recovery of tooth 2.3, a triple-looped titanium-molybdenum alloy (TMA) spring was used to perform canine orthodontic traction. The core concept is that digital planning and optimal positioning of two palatal mini-screws can ensure a bicortical anchorage which, in turn, enabled to tolerate the different orthodontic phases. As a matter of fact, a tooth-bone-borne anchorage was followed by a pure bone-borne anchorage with no lost of stability

    Non-state actors in hybrid global climate governance: justice, legitimacy, and effectiveness in a post-Paris era

    In this article, we outline the multifaceted roles played by non-state actors within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and place this within the wider landscape of global climate governance. In doing so, we look at both the formation and aftermath of the 2015 Paris Agreement. We argue that the Paris Agreement cements an architecture of hybrid multilateralism that enables and constrains non-state actor participation in global climate governance. We flesh out the constitutive features of hybrid multilateralism, enumerate the multiple positions non-state actors may employ under these conditions, and contend that non-state actors will play an increasingly important role in the post-Paris era. To substantiate these claims, we assess these shifts and ask how non-state actors may affect the legitimacy, justice, and effectiveness of the Paris Agreement

    Introduction: The purpose of this study was to describe the skeletal and dentoalveolar changes in a group of growing skeletal Class III patients treated with hybrid rapid palatal expansion and facemask. Methods: Twenty-eight growing patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion were treated using a rapid maxillary expander with hybrid anchorage according to the ALT-Ramec protocol (SKAR III; E.P.), followed by 4 months of facemask therapy. Palatal miniscrew placement was accomplished via digital planning and the construction of a highprecision, individualized surgical guide. Pretreatment and posttreatment cephalometric tracings were analyzed, comparing dental and skeletal measurements. Results: Point A advanced by a mean of 3.4 mm with respect to the reference plane Vert-T. The mandibular plane rotated clockwise, improving the ANB (+3.41 degrees) and the Wits appraisal (+4.92 mm). The maxillary molar had slight extrusion (0.42 mm) and mesialization (0.87 mm). Conclusions: The use of a hybrid-anchorage expander followed by 4 months of facemask treatment improves the skeletal Class III relationship with minimal dental effects, even in older patients (mean age, 11 years 4 months, +/- 2.5 years)

    This case report describes the successful orthodontic treatment of a 22-year-old female patient affected by Class II malocclusion, maxillary skeletal transverse deficiency, ectopic maxillary left lateral incisor, and mild mandibular crowding. Due to her adult skeletal age, a bone-borne appliance was applied in order to obtain both purely skeletal rapid maxillary expansion and bilateral molar distalization. After accurate matching between the pretreatment cone-beam computed tomography scan and digital models, 4 self-drilling miniscrews were inserted palatally using a computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) surgical template to guide their correct and safe placement, and a bone-borne appliance was fitted. After this first phase, the hybrid clear aligner approach was used to obtain alignment, levelling, and arch coordination, with the use of a partial lingual fixed appliance on the maxillary incisors

    We have measured the forward-backward asymmetry in e+e−→bbande+e−→cce^+e^−→b band e^+e^−→cc processes using hadronic events containing muons or electrons. The data sample corresponds to 4100000 hadronic decays of the Z0. From a fit to the single lepton and dilepton p and pT spectra, we determine Abb=0.086±0.015±0.007andAcc=0.083±0.038±0.027 at the effective center-of-mass energy √s=91.24 GeV.
