Given in the article is a sum of author’s longstanding work on theoretical elaboration of methodology and paths of geological science development under conditions of origin and stormy progress of geoinformatics. The opened economic possibilities of informative presentation of geological information and knowledge allowed to ground the necessity of conduction of structurization and differentiation of geoinformatics with the separate geological direction in its development. The paper gives an object and object article of research. A level and scale of geology and informatics interaction in forming of “joint” science are grounded. Principles of new research methods of creation are expounded. This science is infogeology. On the basis of existent geological and new – infogeological methods – it is offered a complex of prognosis methods, distinguishing and mapping of petroliferous objects of various type on the level of natural reservoir. Represented in the paper are the results of its practical use in prognosis geological researches on picking of new oil and gas perspective objects
Inverse problem and Bertrand's theorem
The Bertrand's theorem can be formulated as the solution of an inverse
problem for a classical unidimensional motion. We show that the solutions of
these problems, if restricted to a given class, can be obtained by solving a
numerical equation. This permit a particulary compact and elegant proof of
Bertrand's theorem.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figure
Now the wars are over: The past, present and future of Scottish battlefields
Battlefield archaeology has provided a new way of appreciating historic battlefields. This paper provides a summary of the long history of warfare and conflict in Scotland which has given rise to a large number of battlefield sites. Recent moves to highlight the archaeological importance of these sites, in the form
of Historic Scotland’s Battlefields Inventory are discussed, along with some of the problems associated with the preservation and management of these important
cultural sites
A Renormalization Group Approach to Relativistic Cosmology
We discuss the averaging hypothesis tacitly assumed in standard cosmology.
Our approach is implemented in a "3+1" formalism and invokes the coarse
graining arguments, provided and supported by the real-space Renormalization
Group (RG) methods. Block variables are introduced and the recursion relations
written down explicitly enabling us to characterize the corresponding RG flow.
To leading order, the RG flow is provided by the Ricci-Hamilton equations
studied in connection with the geometry of three-manifolds. The properties of
the Ricci-Hamilton flow make it possible to study a critical behaviour of
cosmological models. This criticality is discussed and it is argued that it may
be related to the formation of sheet-like structures in the universe. We
provide an explicit expression for the renormalized Hubble constant and for the
scale dependence of the matter distribution. It is shown that the Hubble
constant is affected by non-trivial scale dependent shear terms, while the
spatial anisotropy of the metric influences significantly the scale-dependence
of the matter distribution.Comment: 57 pages, LaTeX, 15 pictures available on request from the Author
Ben Lawers: an archaeological landscape in time. Results from the Ben Lawers Historic Landscape Project, 1996–2005
This volume presents the results of archaeological investigations between 1996 and 2005, carried out as part of the Ben Lawers Historic Landscape Project, a multi-disciplinary project based on north Loch Tayside in the Central Highlands of Scotland. Archaeological surveys and excavations formed the core of the Ben Lawers Project, but many other disciplines also contributed to researching this landscape. Some of these partner projects are reported here, while others have been presented elsewhere (Tipping et al 2009), and some have formed part of doctoral research projects (Watters 2007). The results of the 13 field seasons, particularly the nine evaluation and excavation seasons, together with the results of the partner projects, specialist studies and scientific analyses, have provided a body of evidence which permits the story of the land of Lawers to be told. The historical continuum in that story can be used to curate and manage this landscape for generations to come

About curvature, conformal metrics and warped products
We consider the curvature of a family of warped products of two
pseduo-Riemannian manifolds and furnished with metrics of
the form and, in particular, of the type , where are smooth
functions and is a real parameter. We obtain suitable expressions for the
Ricci tensor and scalar curvature of such products that allow us to establish
results about the existence of Einstein or constant scalar curvature structures
in these categories. If is Riemannian, the latter question involves
nonlinear elliptic partial differential equations with concave-convex
nonlinearities and singular partial differential equations of the
Lichnerowicz-York type among others.Comment: 32 pages, 3 figure
