Materiality Thresholds in Accounting and Auditing Some UK Evidence
This paper reports the telephone interviews with 12 auditors (Big 5 and non Big 5) and 14 non auditors on the materiality thresholds adopted by them or by their organisations. Non auditors include from ļ¬nance directors, banker, lawyer, internal auditors, an academic, and technical directors of the Accounting Standards Board (ASB) and the Auditing Practices Board (APB) in the UK. This is in respond to the issuance of Statement of Auditing Standards (SAS) 220 on āMateriality and the Audit= by the APB in 1995 whereby no materiality threshold was speciļ¬cally mentioned. The ļ¬ndings showed that 10% of net proļ¬t before tax is the favourite threshold. This is close to recommendations from literature or due to inļ¬uences by the literature themselves. A speciļ¬c mathematical guideline could enhance harmonisation of reporting and interpretation of ļ¬nancial results
A convergent synthetic route to the tunicamycin antibiotics. Synthesis of (+)-tunicamycin V
The tunicamycins are a family of natural products represented generally by structure 1, wherein R indicates one of several long-chain branched, linear, saturated or unsaturated acyl substituents. They elicit a considerable range of biological responses including antimicrobial, antifungal, antiviral, and antitumor activities. Their ability to function as potent inhibitors of oligosaccharide synthesis in eukaryotic cells has established them as unique biochemical probes of the role of glycosylation on protein structure and function. In this work, we describe a concise synthetic route to the tunicamycins, illustrated by the preparation of (+)-tunicamycin V (1-V)
āMUMI DANSAā (Merchandise Unik, Menarik dan Edukatif dengan Desain Peta)
MUMI DANSA is one of the many alternatives of creative art that is able to give educative introduction about the culture of Nusantara. The goal of the project and the products is to have innovative point of view that could be given out into products design, the aim is also to provide fields of jobs, and educative points of view that could give knowledge and introduction about uniqueness of Nusantara. The project is done with 4 methods, which are promotion and publication, marketing, production, and methods for research and design development. The MUMI DANSA products which are t-shirts and accessories
Solution of the Roth-Marques-Durian Rotational Abrasion Model
We solve the rotational abrasion model of Roth, Marques and Durian
(arXiv:1009.3492), a one-dimensional quasilinear partial differential equation
resembling the inviscid Burgers equation with the unusual feature of a step
function factor as a coefficient. The complexity of the solution is primarily
in keeping track of the cases in the piecewise function that results from
certain amputation and interpolation processes, so we also extract from it a
model of an evolving planar tree graph that tracks the evolution of the coarse
features of the contour.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Parentsā Perceptions of the Physical Health Outcomes of Young People Diagnosed with First Episode Psychosis
This study explores parentsā perceptions of their son/daughterās physical health needs following a first episode psychosis diagnosis and commencement on antipsychotic medication. The research process was guided by grounded theory methodology and data were collected using semi-structure interviews with 16 parents. Four categories were identified. Participants described the importance, challenges and strategies for their son/daughter to maintain their physical health, and the need to improve young peopleās health literacy, particularly in areas of physical health, diet and lifestyle. These findings will assist health professionals to provide parents with information to better support their son/daughter to maintain their physical health
Measurement of the Target-Normal Single-Spin Asymmetry in Quasielastic Scattering from the Reaction Ā³Heā(e, e\u27)
We report the first measurement of the target single-spin asymmetry, Ay, in quasielastic scattering from the inclusive reaction Ā³Heā(e, e\u27) on a Ā³He gas target polarized normal to the lepton scattering plane. Assuming time-reversal invariance, this asymmetry is strictly zero for one-photon exchange. A nonzero Ay can arise from the interference between the one-and two-photon exchange processes which is sensitive to the details of the substructure of the nucleon. An experiment recently completed at Jefferson Lab yielded asymmetries with high statistical precision at Q2 = 0.13, 0.46, and 0.97 GeV2. These measurements demonstrate, for the first time, that the 3He asymmetry is clearly nonzero and negative at the 4Ļ-9Ļ level. Using measured proton-to-3He cross-section ratios and the effective polarization approximation, neutron asymmetries of -(1-3)% were obtained. The neutron asymmetry at high Q2 is related to moments of the generalized parton distributions (GPDs). Our measured neutron asymmetry at Q2 = 0.97 GeV2 agrees well with a prediction based on two-photon exchange using a GPD model and thus provides a new, independent constraint on these distributions
