Privatizing and Liberalizing Electricity, The Case of Hungary.
Hungary, a forerunner in Eastern reforms, has boldly privatized its energy sector with foreign capital. While in the West liberalization resulted in electricity abundance and dramatical tariff-cuts, in Hungary it brought excess capacities, but lower tariffs are still a long way to go
Availability Prediction of Telecommunication Application Servers Deployed on Cloud
Availability and reliability considerations are discussed in this paper with special focus on ‘cloud based’ Mobile Switching and Telecommunication Application Servers (MSS and TAS). Before the extensive deployment of cloud based telecommunication networks, the essential question shall be answered: Will cloud technology ensure the ‘carrier grade’ requirements that are well established and proven on ‘legacy telecommunications’ hardware? This paper shows the possible redundancy principles and a simulation method to predict availability for ‘cloudified’ mobile communication network elements. As a calculation example, Nokia AS on ‘telco-cloud’ is presented, that combines several redundancy principles such as full protection (2N), standby and load sharing
Pilot-scale verification of efficient nitrifier backseeding in a combined activated sludge-biofilm system
Purpose of the paper is to experimentally verify that a downstream nitrifying fixed-film reactor may effectively backseed an activated sludge (AS) system. The experiment was carried out at the Southpest Wastewater Treatment Plant in Budapest, Hungary, with two pilot-scale AS systems connected directly to the preclarified influent and to the stream recirculated from the nitrifying fixed-film reactor of the full-scale plant ensuring both the nitrate and the backwashed biomass recirculation. Effluent NH4-N level dropped down to near zero in the experimental systems whereas no significant nitrification occurred in the fullscale plant being operated at lower aeration intensity. Simulation model developed for describing the combined system supported that backseeding was the cause of the high nitrification efficiency having been limited by inadequate oxygen supply in the full scale system
Egy középső vaskori leletegyüttes Mezőzomborról, Északkelet-Magyarország = A Middle Iron Age Assemblage of Finds from Mezőzombor, NE Hungary
New Path in the Research of Hillforts in the North Hunharian Mountains
Altogether 44 Late Bronze and Early Iron Age hillforts have been identified in the territory of Hungary thus far. The
since-legendary topographic work by Gyula Nováki, in which he has discovered, surveyed, and described sites that
were already known during the 19th century and new ones, represented a massive leap forward in their research.
The systematic survey programme started in 2006 by a dedicated team of the Institute of Archaeological Sciences
of the Eötvös Loránd University (ELU, Budapest) resulted in another major expansion of the available body of
information. The research team used metal detectors to survey the hillfort settlements in the region (V. Szabó 2017). Though some archaeological investigation has been carried out on every fortified settlement in the region by
today, comprehensive complex evaluation was only attempted in two cases (Szilvásvárad-Kelemenszéke, V. Szabó
& bíró 2018; V. Szabó 2019, 213–224 and Tállya-Óvár). The present study surveys the methodology and current
results of the investigations on the hillfort at Tállya-Óvár
