    GeV Scale Asymmetric Dark Matter from Mirror Universe: Direct Detection and LHC Signatures

    Mirror universe is a fundamental way to restore parity symmetry in weak interactions. It naturally provides the lightest mirror nucleon as a unique GeV-scale asymmetric dark matter particle candidate. We conjecture that the mirror parity is respected by the fundamental interaction Lagrangian, and its possible soft breaking arises only from non-interaction terms in the gauge-singlet sector. We realize the spontaneous mirror parity violation by minimizing the vacuum Higgs potential, and derive the corresponding Higgs spectrum. We demonstrate that the common origin of CP violation in the visible and mirror neutrino seesaws can generate the right amount of matter and mirror dark matter via leptogenesis. We analyze the direct detections of GeV-scale mirror dark matter by TEXONO and CDEX experiments.     Mechanistic Advances on Developmental Initiation, Maturation, and Ovulation of Oocytes in Domestic Cattle

    With the continuous development of society, people’s demand for meat and milk continues to expand, especially beef and milk consumption. In order to improve the production efficiency of domestic cattle, frozen sperm, artificial fertilization, embryo transfer, and other reproductive technologies have been deeply studied and widely used, but the problem of beef and milk supply has not been fundamentally solved. The quality of oocytes is directly related to fertilization, embryo development, growth of fetal calf before and after birth, and its production performance. A thorough understanding of the mechanism of oocyte development initiation, maturation, and ovulation in domestic cattle will lay a theoretical foundation for us to further improve its production efficiency. This chapter focuses on summarizing and analyzing the recent progress of domestic cattle raising on the above issues and puts forward suggestions and prospects for future related work

    Bidirectional Correlation-Driven Inter-Frame Interaction Transformer for Referring Video Object Segmentation

    Referring video object segmentation (RVOS) aims to segment the target object in a video sequence described by a language expression. Typical multimodal Transformer based RVOS approaches process video sequence in a frame-independent manner to reduce the high computational cost, which however restricts the performance due to the lack of inter-frame interaction for temporal coherence modeling and spatio-temporal representation learning of the referred object. Besides, the absence of sufficient cross-modal interactions results in weak correlation between the visual and linguistic features, which increases the difficulty of decoding the target information and limits the performance of the model. In this paper, we propose a bidirectional correlation-driven inter-frame interaction Transformer, dubbed BIFIT, to address these issues in RVOS. Specifically, we design a lightweight and plug-and-play inter-frame interaction module in the Transformer decoder to efficiently learn the spatio-temporal features of the referred object, so as to decode the object information in the video sequence more precisely and generate more accurate segmentation results. Moreover, a bidirectional vision-language interaction module is implemented before the multimodal Transformer to enhance the correlation between the visual and linguistic features, thus facilitating the language queries to decode more precise object information from visual features and ultimately improving the segmentation performance. Extensive experimental results on four benchmarks validate the superiority of our BIFIT over state-of-the-art methods and the effectiveness of our proposed modules

    Effects of space flight factors on genetic diversity of Buchloe dactyloides seeds

    The objective of this research was to investigate the effects of space flight factors on Buchloe dactyloides “Jingyin No.3” seeds. After the retrieval, basic turf characters of plants were tested. Among the 100 plants tested, 21 showed great change on phenotype characters, including leaf blade length and width, height, stem diameter, number of tillers, number and length of stolon, length of stolon inter node, leaf color and extent of leaf turning yellow. 33 primers were screened in inter-simple sequence repeats (ISSR) analysis to evaluate DNA variation between mutations and their ground controls. Results show that 15.6 reliable bands were generated by 7 primers, of which 12.9 (80.9%) were polymorphic. Based on the study, we can conclude that the space flight factors could induce inheritable mutagenic changes on B. dactyloides seeds, and do further research to demonstrate these changes in genetic material of the mutants.Key words: Genetic diversity, Buchloe dactyloides, spaceflight, inter-simple sequence repeats

    Combining interscalene brachial plexus block with intravenous-inhalation combined anesthesia for upper extremity fractures surgery: A randomized controlled trial

    AbstractBackground: A parallel-group randomized controlled trial (RCT) was conducted to evaluate the effect of combining the interscalene brachial plexus block (IBPB) with Intravenous–inhalation combined anesthesia to isolated Intravenous–inhalation anesthesia in the upper extremity fractures surgery of elderly patients. Methods: One hundred elderly patients who underwent upper extremity surgery were randomly assigned to received isolated Intravenous–inhalation combined anesthesia (group CI, n = 50) and IBPB associated with Intravenous–inhalation combined anesthesia (group NB, n = 50). Associated side effects, recovery time after operation, as well as the dose of intraoperative vasoactive agents and auxiliary drugs were noted. Results: The two groups were not significantly different in gender (P = 0.539), ages (P = 0.683) and weight (P = 0.212). Five patients (10%) in the group NB and 17 patients (34%) in the group CI suffered from preoperative hypotension (P = 0.004). Besides, lower incidence of other adverse effects such as mental stress, incision pain and hypertension were also found in the group NB; however, the differences were not statistically significant (P > 0.05). The consumption of general anesthetics in the group NB was significantly less than that of the group CI (propofol, P = 0.004; lsoflurane, P < 0.001), and the recovery time of the group NB was significantly shorter than that of the group CI (P = 0.020). Conclusion: Combining IBPB with Intravenous–inhalation combined anesthesia in elderly patients hold a greater potential for upper extremity fractures surgery due to its improved clinical effectiveness and fewer side effects

    Continuous genomic surveillance monitored the in vivo evolutionary trajectories of Vibrio parahaemolyticus and identified a new virulent genotype

    Our ability to predict evolutionary trajectories of pathogens is one of the promising leverages to fight against the pandemic disease, yet few studies have addressed this question in situ, due to the difficulty in monitoring the milestone evolutionary events for a given pathogen and in understanding the evolutionary strategies. In this study, we monitored the real-time evolution of Vibrio parahaemolyticus in response to successive antibiotic treatment in three shrimp farms in North China from 2011 to 2018 by whole-genome sequencing. Results showed that the stepwise emergence of resistance was associated with the antibiotic usage. Genomic analysis of resistant isolates showed that the acquisition of the resistant mobile genetic elements flanked by an insertion sequence (ISVal1) closely mirrored the antibiotics used in shrimp farms since 2014. Next, we also identified 50 insertion sites of ISVal1 in the chromosome, which facilitated the formation of pathogenicity islands (PAIs) and fitness islands in the following years. Further, horizontal transfers of a virulent trh-nikure genomic island (GI) and two GIs improving the fitness have been observed in two farms since 2016. In this case study, we proposed that the insertion sequence triggered four major evolutionary events during the outbreaks of shrimp disease in three farms, including horizontal transfer of transposon (HTT) (stage 1), the formation of resistance islands (stage 2) and the PAIs (stage 3), and horizontal transfer of the PAIs (stage 4). This study presented the first in vivo evolutionary trajectories for a given bacterial pathogen, which helps us to understand the emergence mechanisms of new genotypes. IMPORTANCE Most human infectious diseases originate from animals. Thus, how to reduce or prevent pandemic zoonoses before they emerge in people is becoming a critical issue. Continuous genomic surveillance of the evolutionary trajectories of potential human pathogens on farms is a promising strategy to realize early warning. Here, we conducted an 8-year surveillance of Vibrio parahaemolyticus in three shrimp farms. The results showed that the use of antibiotics and horizontal transfer of transposons (HTT) drove the evolution of V. parahaemolyticus, which could be divided into four stages: HTT, formation of resistance islands, formation of pathogenicity islands (PAIs), and horizontal transfer of PAIs. This study presented the first in vivo monitoring of evolutionary trajectories for a given bacterial pathogen, providing valuable information for the prevention of pandemic zoonoses
