Possible energy-dependence of Theta_13 in neutrino oscillations
A simple three-flavor neutrino-oscillation model is discussed which has both
nonzero mass differences and timelike Fermi-point splittings, together with a
combined bi-maximal and trimaximal mixing pattern. One possible consequence
would be new effects in \nu_{\mu} \to \nu_{e} oscillations, characterized by an
energy-dependent effective mixing angle \Theta_{13}. Future experiments such as
T2K and NOvA, and perhaps even the current MINOS experiment, could look for
these effects.Comment: 15 pages with revtex4; title changed in journa
Lorentz-noninvariant neutrino oscillations: model and predictions
We present a three-parameter neutrino-oscillation model for three flavors of
massless neutrinos with Fermi-point splitting and tri-maximal mixing angles.
One of these parameters is the T-violating phase \epsilon, for which the
experimental results from K2K and KamLAND appear to favor a nonzero value. In
this article, we give further model predictions for neutrino oscillations.
Upcoming experiments will be able to test this simple model and the general
idea of Fermi-point splitting. Possible implications for proposed experiments
and neutrino factories are also discussed.Comment: 22 pages, v5: final version to appear in IJMP
A numerical examination of an evolving black string horizon
We use the numerical solution describing the evolution of a perturbed black
string presented in Choptuik et al. (2003) to elucidate the intrinsic behavior
of the horizon. It is found that by the end of the simulation, the affine
parameter on the horizon has become very large and the expansion and shear of
the horizon in turn very small. This suggests the possibility that the horizon
might pinch off in infinite affine parameter.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figures; acknowledgements adde
Photon-propagation model with random background field: Length scales and Cherenkov limits
We present improved experimental bounds on typical length scales of a
photon-propagation model with a frozen (time-independent) random background
field, which could result from anomalous effects of a static, multiply
connected spacetime foam.Comment: 6 pages with revtex4; v3: final versio
Usulan Strategi Pemasaran Toko Retail RC Motogarage - Penyedia Helm Sepeda Motor dan Peralatan Keselamatan Premium
Along with Indonesia\u27s economic growth and the need for practical and economical transportation vehicle, the number of two-wheeled motor vehicles or motorcycles users is increasing. This also resulted in an increasing demand for motorcycle safety gear given the importance factor of safety for motorcycle users. RC Motogarage, a retail store that sells motorcycle safety gear in Bandung, chooses to sell premium safety equipment products because the level of safety provided by the premium brand is relatively better than local brands. Being the current market leader, RC Motogarage sales decreased significantly due to the emergence of competitors. By using cluster analysis and factor analysis research methods, this research aims to produce the best solution to improve the marketing strategies of RC Motogarage
Dynamic Perceptual Changes in Audiovisual Simultaneity
Background: The timing at which sensory input reaches the level of conscious perception is an intriguing question still awaiting an answer. It is often assumed that both visual and auditory percepts have a modality specific processing delay and their difference determines perceptual temporal offset.
Methodology/Principal Findings: Here, we show that the perception of audiovisual simultaneity can change flexibly and fluctuates over a short period of time while subjects observe a constant stimulus. We investigated the mechanisms underlying the spontaneous alternations in this audiovisual illusion and found that attention plays a crucial role. When attention was distracted from the stimulus, the perceptual transitions disappeared. When attention was directed to a visual event, the perceived timing of an auditory event was attracted towards that event.
Conclusions/Significance: This multistable display illustrates how flexible perceived timing can be, and at the same time offers a paradigm to dissociate perceptual from stimulus-driven factors in crossmodal feature binding. Our findings suggest that the perception of crossmodal synchrony depends on perceptual binding of audiovisual stimuli as a common event
New Type of Traversable Wormhole
We review a new traversable-wormhole solution of the gravitational field
equation of general relativity without exotic matter. Instead of having exotic
matter to keep the wormhole throat open, the solution relies on a 3-dimensional
"spacetime defect," which is characterized by a locally vanishing metric
determinant. We also discuss the corresponding multiple-vacuum-defect-wormhole
solution and possible experimental signatures from a "gas" of vacuum-defect
wormholes. Multiple vacuum-defect wormholes appear to allow for backward time
travel.Comment: Invited paper at Bahamas Advanced Study Institute & Conferences
