This paper starts by critically reviewing the way in which universities design their measures of performance. We argue that the “one size fits all” performance measurement approach adopted by so many universities is not appropriate when departments have very different operating models. The paper proposes using “business model design” to enable university departments and centres to design and develop their own “sustainability model”, which in turn may help them develop more appropriate performance measurement systems. Contemporary performance measurement systems: A review of their consequences and a framework for research

The main purpose of this paper is to develop a conceptual framework for understanding the literature on the consequences of contemporary performance measurement (CPM) systems and the theories that explain these consequences. The framework is based on an in-depth review of 76 empirical studies published in high-quality academic journals in the areas of accounting, operations, and strategy. The framework classifies the consequences of CPM into three categories: people's behaviour, organizational capabilities, and performance consequences. As atitudes face à Dificuldade Intelectual

Mesmo com as mais recentes inovações a nível político no sentido da igualdade de oportunidades para a participação social, as pessoas com dificuldades intelectuais e desenvolvimentais (DID) ainda são confrontadas com inúmeras barreiras, de entre as quais as atitudinais. A falta de conhecimento sobre as suas capacidades e de um contacto de qualidade com estas pessoas, leva à formação de atitudes negativas, pré-conceitos, discriminação e distância social, atuando como obstáculos à inclusão efetiva destas pessoas. É neste contexto que se fundamenta este artigo que tem como objetivo situar a informação atual existente a este nível, numa tentativa de se perceberem quais as principais variáveis (facilitadores e bareiras) que poderão influenciar as atitudes, qual a importância da sua avaliação e que instrumentos são utilizados neste processo, visando a validação de estratégias de mudança nas áreas da educação especial e da reabilitação. O conhecimento sobre as atitudes permitirá compreender a natureza da interação das pessoas com e sem dificuldades, e a identificação das dimensões das atitudes negativas pode oferecer pistas para políticas, programas intervenção e procedimentos de educação e sensibilização para a mudança de atitudes, com a respetiva monitorização
