    Interviews On Main

Interviews On Main is the script of a one woman performance piece. It was conceived as an exploration and process of how to develop and write a working script, and later, see the piece come to fruition by producing, acting, and directing it. This solo show process has allowed me to delve into discovering my personal aesthetic in order to make a strong, individual artistic statement. Additionally, this process has helped me to learn how to be a solo creative artist, and to have cultivated individual material to perform when I am not cast professionally. This thesis includes a table of contents detailing the order of the parts. Firstly, this thesis contains a practical documentation of the artistic process; the description of early ideas, research and development of Interviews On Main, the editing process, and the final working script. It also includes a chapter of script and performance analysis, as well as a vision for possible expansion to a longer piece, and how to revive it. Finally, the thesis includes the sources consulted, or pertaining to, the process of development

Whatever You Want Me to Be: The Purse, Identity, and Exchange in Ancient Greece

Since the 1930’s, scholars have interpreted the motif of the coin purse in Greek pottery imagery in a variety of ways, often treating the exact same image to vastly different iconographic readings to effectively define the purse in the world of ‘genre’ images. Not only do many of these studies often neglect chronology or distribution, they also confine themselves to a set, often repeated handful of purse-images without considering the massive scale and repetition found in Greek vase-production. This study will utilize evidence that includes provenance, shape, and chronology, in addition to analyzing patterns of gestures and gendered interactions within a large number of purse scenes. This study will examine the “purse” as an iconographic element within Greek pottery through the construction of a catalogue of images built from the Beazley Archive 2 Pottery Database. It is through this analysis that the image of the purse, within the data provided, does not confine itself to a singular, definite reading, but is instead a nuanced motif containing many different potential meanings. Thus, due to the ambiguity of the purse motif, a multivalent approach is necessary when interpreting the potential meaning(s) of the purse for an ancient viewer

Recent trends in soft-tissue infection imaging.

This article discusses the current techniques and future directions of infection imaging with particular attention to respiratory, central nervous system, abdominal, and postoperative infections. The agents currently in use localize to areas of infection and inflammation. An infection-specific imaging agent would greatly improve the utility of scintigraphy in imaging occult infections. The superior spatial resolution of (18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography ((18)F-FDG-PET) and its lack of reliance on a functional immune system, gives this agent certain advantages over the other radiopharmaceuticals. In respiratory tract infection imaging, an important advancement would be the ability to quantitatively delineate lung inflammation, allowing one to monitor the therapeutic response in a variety of conditions. Current studies suggest PET should be considered the most accurate quantitative method. Scintigraphy has much to offer in localizing abdominal infection as well as inflammation. We may begin to see a gradual increase in the usage of (18)F-FDG-PET in detecting occult abdominal infections. Commonly used modalities for imaging inflammatory bowel disease are scintigraphy with (111)In-oxine/(99m)Tc-HMPAO labeled autologous white blood cells. The literature on central nervous system infection imaging is relatively scarce. Few clinical studies have been performed and numerous new agents have been developed for this use with varying results. Further studies are needed to more clearly delineate the future direction of this field. In evaluating the postoperative spine, (99m)Tc-ciprofloxacin single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) was reported to be \u3e80% sensitive in patients more than 6 months after surgery. FDG-PET has also been suggested for this purpose and may play a larger role than originally thought. It appears PET/computed tomography (CT) is gaining support, especially in imaging those with fever of unknown origin or nonfunctional immune systems. Although an infection-specific agent is lacking, the development of one would greatly advance our ability to detect, localize, and quantify infections. Overall, imaging such an agent via SPECT/CT or PET/CT will pave the way for greater clinical reliability in the localization of infection

    The Dance

Growing up, I was the singer and my sister was the dancer. I would practice my art songs, arias, and Broadway ballads, and Danielle would drill away at her ballroom dance routines with her partner. While I would memorize lyrics, get into character, and be cast in local musicals, Danielle would compete in Dancesport at the Brigham Young University Marriott Center. She would cheer me on at my plays, and I would be at all her dance competitions with water bottles and a towel. I would spray on her tans, sew on her rhinestones, and glue on her fake eyelashes. She would Febreze my costumes, apply my makeup, and go over and over any tricky play choreography with me. And with each song and each dance, something magical was created
