The Equivalence Postulate of Quantum Mechanics
The Equivalence Principle (EP), stating that all physical systems are
connected by a coordinate transformation to the free one with vanishing energy,
univocally leads to the Quantum Stationary HJ Equation (QSHJE). Trajectories
depend on the Planck length through hidden variables which arise as initial
conditions. The formulation has manifest p-q duality, a consequence of the
involutive nature of the Legendre transform and of its recently observed
relation with second-order linear differential equations. This reflects in an
intrinsic psi^D-psi duality between linearly independent solutions of the
Schroedinger equation. Unlike Bohm's theory, there is a non-trivial action even
for bound states. No use of any axiomatic interpretation of the wave-function
is made. Tunnelling is a direct consequence of the quantum potential which
differs from the usual one and plays the role of particle's self-energy. The
QSHJE is defined only if the ratio psi^D/psi is a local self-homeomorphism of
the extended real line. This is an important feature as the L^2 condition,
which in the usual formulation is a consequence of the axiomatic interpretation
of the wave-function, directly follows as a basic theorem which only uses the
geometrical gluing conditions of psi^D/psi at q=\pm\infty as implied by the EP.
As a result, the EP itself implies a dynamical equation that does not require
any further assumption and reproduces both tunnelling and energy quantization.
Several features of the formulation show how the Copenhagen interpretation
hides the underlying nature of QM. Finally, the non-stationary higher

VLBI observations of nearby radio loud Active Galactic Nuclei
We present an update of the parsec scale properties of the Bologna Complete
Sample consisting of 95 radio sources from the B2 Catalog of Radio Sources and
the Third Cambridge Revised Catalog (3CR), with z < 0.1. Thanks to recent new
data we have now parsec scale images for 76 sources of the sample. Most of them
show a one-sided jet structure but we find a higher fraction of two-sided
sources in comparison with previous flux-limited VLBI surveys. A few peculiar

Mandarin Market Segments Based on Consumer Sensory Evaluations
Ninety-five consumers in seven grocery stores tasted unidentified peeled sections of three mandarins (a tangerine, a satsuma, and a clementine), and provided demographic and purchase information. Forty-four percent of the respondents preferred tangerines, 34 percent satsumas, and 22 percent clementines. The probability of preferring each of type of mandarin was estimated from internal quality analysis of paired samples, as well as from demographic and purchase responses. Formalizing Size-Optimal Sorting Networks: Extracting a Certified Proof Checker
Since the proof of the four color theorem in 1976, computer-generated proofs
have become a reality in mathematics and computer science. During the last
decade, we have seen formal proofs using verified proof assistants being used
to verify the validity of such proofs.
In this paper, we describe a formalized theory of size-optimal sorting
networks. From this formalization we extract a certified checker that
successfully verifies computer-generated proofs of optimality on up to 8
inputs. The checker relies on an untrusted oracle to shortcut the search for
witnesses on more than 1.6 million NP-complete subproblems.Comment: IMADA-preprint-c
Thermal noise limitations to force measurements with torsion pendulums: Applications to the measurement of the Casimir force and its thermal correction
A general analysis of thermal noise in torsion pendulums is presented. The
specific case where the torsion angle is kept fixed by electronic feedback is
analyzed. This analysis is applied to a recent experiment that employed a
torsion pendulum to measure the Casimir force. The ultimate limit to the
distance at which the Casimir force can be measured to high accuracy is
discussed, and in particular the prospects for measuring the thermal correction

Dvoretzky type theorems for multivariate polynomials and sections of convex bodies
In this paper we prove the Gromov--Milman conjecture (the Dvoretzky type
theorem) for homogeneous polynomials on , and improve bounds on
the number in the analogous conjecture for odd degrees (this case
is known as the Birch theorem) and complex polynomials. We also consider a
stronger conjecture on the homogeneous polynomial fields in the canonical
bundle over real and complex Grassmannians. This conjecture is much stronger
and false in general, but it is proved in the cases of (for 's of
certain type), odd , and the complex Grassmannian (for odd and even and
any ). Corollaries for the John ellipsoid of projections or sections of a
convex body are deduced from the case of the polynomial field conjecture
GRIDKIT: Pluggable overlay networks for Grid computing
A `second generation' approach to the provision of Grid middleware is now emerging which is built on service-oriented architecture and web services standards and technologies. However, advanced Grid applications have significant demands that are not addressed by present-day web services platforms. As one prime example, current platforms do not support the rich diversity of communication `interaction types' that are demanded by advanced applications (e.g. publish-subscribe, media streaming, peer-to-peer interaction). In the paper we describe the Gridkit middleware which augments the basic service-oriented architecture to address this particular deficiency. We particularly focus on the communications infrastructure support required to support multiple interaction types in a unified, principled and extensible manner-which we present in terms of the novel concept of pluggable overlay networks

The Quantum Reduced Action In Higher Dimensions
The solution with respect to the reduced action of the one-dimensional
stationary quantum Hamilton-Jacobi equation is well known in the literature.
The extension to higher dimensions in the separated variable case was proposed
in contradictory formulations. In this paper we provide new insights into the
construction of the reduced action. In particular, contrary to the classical
mechanics case, we analytically show that the reduced action constructed as a
sum of one variable functions does not contain a complete information about the
quantum motion. In the same context, we also make some observations about
recent results concerning quantum trajectories. Finally, we will examine the
conditions in which microstates appear even in the case where the wave function
