The study evaluated the implementation of GK program components in the communities in Eastern Samar. A descriptive method was employed utilizing a questionnaire to identify the profile of the implementers, the program implementation and the difference of perceptions of the beneficiaries and implementers of the GK program. The results showed that 35.7% of the implementers were 51-60 years old, 64.3% were males, 35.7% finished bachelor’s degree and 28.6% attended 4-6 and 1-3 trainings respectively. It was revealed that shelter and environment and values components were evaluated to be adequate while the rest of the program components were inadequate. The difference of perception of the two-group of respondents on the implementation of the program yielded no significant difference

This study evaluated the personal qualities, work values and job performance of graduates using the descriptive correlation method employing self-structured questionnaires. The results of the study revealed that the personal qualities of graduates in terms of personal character, initiative and personality were found to be very good. The work values of the graduates such as work ethics, diligence, teamwork and creativity were rated “practiced” by the respondents. However, motivation, self-confidence and professionalism were rated “moderately practiced” by the supervisors but graded “practiced” by the graduates themselves. The difference in work values of diligence, self-motivation, creativity, self-confidence and professionalism were rated significant except for work ethics and creativity. The graduate respondents’ performance rating for the School Year 2010- 2011 reached a mean of 4.19 or very satisfactory. The relationship between personal qualities in terms of personal character, initiative and personality and job performance were not significant. Similarly, the relationship between work values in terms of work ethics, diligence, teamwork, selfmotivation, creativity and professionalism and job performance were not significant, except for self-confidence

Factors Affecting Sentinel Node Metastasis in Thin (T1) Cutaneous Melanomas: Development and External Validation of a Predictive Nomogram

PURPOSE Thin melanomas (T1; ≤ 1 mm) constitute 70% of newly diagnosed cutaneous melanomas. Regional node metastasis determined by sentinel node biopsy (SNB) is an important prognostic factor for T1 melanoma. However, current melanoma guidelines do not provide clear indications on when to perform SNB in T1 disease and stress an individualized approach to SNB that considers all clinicopathologic risk factors. We aimed to identify determinants of sentinel node (SN) status for incorporation into an externally validated nomogram to better select patients with T1 disease for SNB. PATIENTS AND METHODS The development cohort comprised 3,666 patients with T1 disease consecutively treated at the Istituto Nazionale Tumori (Milan, Italy) between 2001 and 2018; 4,227 patients with T1 disease treated at 13 other European centers over the same period formed the validation cohort. A random forest procedure was applied to the development data set to select characteristics associated with SN status for inclusion in a multiple binary logistic model from which a nomogram was elaborated. Decision curve analyses assessed the clinical utility of the nomogram. RESULTS Of patients in the development cohort, 1,635 underwent SNB; 108 patients (6.6%) were SN positive. By univariable analysis, age, growth phase, Breslow thickness, ulceration, mitotic rate, regression, and lymphovascular invasion were significantly associated with SN status. The random forest procedure selected 6 variables (not growth phase) for inclusion in the logistic model and nomogram. The nomogram proved well calibrated and had good discriminative ability in both cohorts. Decision curve analyses revealed the superior net benefit of the nomogram compared with each individual variable included in it as well as with variables suggested by current guidelines. CONCLUSION We propose the nomogram as a decision aid in all patients with T1 melanoma being considered for SNB

Resistivity measurement techniques for composite materials

In this article, the theoretical concepts and the experimental techniques for measurements of the volume and surface resistivity of carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) composite materials have been explained. The purpose of these measurements is to investigate the potential of composite materials as lightning arrestors for an aircraft. In particular, the AC resistivity method and the Delta mode of measurement have been described in detail. A few measurements were carried out using an indigenously designed and fabricated collinear four-probe resistivity measurement tool, for which factors dependent on the dimensions of the samples have to be incorporated, as per the ASTM F390-11 standards. The validity of the two-probe and four-probe methods is also analyzed, along with techniques to minimize errors in measurements. Conductivity measurements on uni-directional laminates have been made in the longitudinal (fibre) direction as well as perpendicular to it, indicating a marked difference in the relative magnitudes. When investigating the potential of materials as lightning arrestors, a very high surface conductivity is desired so that lightning currents (even of the order of kA) pass along the exterior of the aircraft, without penetrating the underlying structure. The effects of the addition of copper nanotubes (CNT) and copper mesh have also been studied. The instruments involved in these experiments have been automated based on the IEEE – 488.2 protocols. The software to program them was developed using Labview. Measurements have also been performed on standard samples to test the accuracy of the data. Currents ranging from 0.1 to 100mA were passed, to deduce the current-dependency of the surface resistivity of these materials
