    Women and people of color are particularly underrepresented in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematic (STEM) disciplines. This mixed methods study surveyed 527 engineers and interviewed eight female engineers to examine the current culture climate for diversity in engineering worksites, and how gender, race, and age intersect and affect engineers‘ perceptions of organizational inclusiveness and the learning environment surrounding diversity.     A Description and Classification of Siriono, a Tupi-Guarani Language

    The corpus of published material on Sirionó linguistics is small. Anselmo Schermair, a Franciscan missionary, was the first to publish a study of the Sirionó language. This work is primarily a vocabulary, with a few notes on the consonants and vowels. The words are placed in four classes: substantives, verbs, adjectives and adverbs, without any criteria being offered for the classification. A recent publication on Sirionó is that of Perry and Anne Priest and Joseph Grimes in which they discuss a specific problem of simultaneous ordering of certain syntactic and morphemic items--discussed in terms of spans and morphemic alterations involved within the spans . At the present time, Sirionó linguistics is lacking a structural grammar or a scientific description of the different linguistic levels. The present study is an attempt to supply this need

    Protocols are presented for measuring optical properties, and other environmental variables, to validate the radiometric performance of the Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS), and to develop and validate bio-optical algorithms for use with SeaWiFS data. The protocols are intended to establish foundations for a measurement strategy to verify the challenging SeaWiFS accuracy goals of 5 percent in water-leaving radiances and 35 percent in chlorophyll alpha concentration. The protocols first specify the variables which must be measured, and briefly review rationale. Subsequent chapters cover detailed protocols for instrument performance specifications, characterizing and calibration instruments, methods of making measurements in the field, and methods of data analysis. These protocols were developed at a workshop sponsored by the SeaWiFS Project Office (SPO) and held at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California (9-12 April, 1991). This report is the proceedings of that workshop, as interpreted and expanded by the authors and reviewed by workshop participants and other members of the bio-optical research community. The protocols are a first prescription to approach unprecedented measurement accuracies implied by the SeaWiFS goals, and research and development are needed to improve the state-of-the-art in specific areas. The protocols should be periodically revised to reflect technical advances during the SeaWiFS Project cycle

    The SEAPAK is a user interactive satellite data analysis package that was developed for the processing and interpretation of Nimbus-7/Coastal Zone Color Scanner (CZCS) and the NOAA Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) data. Significant revisions were made to version 1.0 of the guide, and the ancillary environmental data analysis module was expanded. The package continues to emphasize user friendliness and user interactive data analyses. Additionally, because the scientific goals of the ocean color research being conducted have shifted to large space and time scales, batch processing capabilities for both satellite and ancillary environmental data analyses were enhanced, thus allowing large quantities of data to be ingested and analyzed in background
