Structural Policy Challenges in Slovakia
The paper presents possible approaches for measuring the quality of life together with their strengths and weaknesses. We identify 10 outcome indicators, which could help not only to set targets, but also as a quantitative benchmark for structural policy evaluation in Slovakia. In addition to that we present several case studies with best practices mainly from EU countries. Utility Independence of Multiattribute Utility Theory is Equivalent to Standard Sequence Invariance of Conjoint Measurement
Utility independence is a central condition in multiattribute utility theory, where attributes of outcomes are aggregated in the context of risk. The aggregation of attributes in the absence of risk is studied in conjoint measurement. In conjoint measurement, standard sequences have been widely used to empirically measure and test utility functions, and to theoretically analyze them. This paper shows that utility independence and standard sequences are closely related: utility independence is equivalent to a standard sequence invariance condition when applied to risk. This simple relation between two widely used conditions in adjacent fields of research is surprising and useful. It facilitates the testing of utility independence because standard sequences are flexible and can avoid cancelation biases that affect direct tests of utility independence. Extensions of our results to nonexpected utility models can now be provided easily. We discuss applications to the measurement of quality-adjusted life-years (QALY) in the health domain
Stereo audio power amplifier with microcontroller
Táto bakalárska práca sa zaoberá návrhom stereo audio výkonového zosilňovača ktorého vybrané funkcie, ako sú riadenie hlasitosti, hĺbok, výšok a balance, ovláda cez digitálne potenciometre šestnásťbitový mikrokontrolér. Nastavenie vybraných funkcií je zobrazované na jednoduchom LCD displeji. Navrhovaný zosilňovač je jednoduchý na obsluhu a teda nachádza uplatnenie v širokom spektre zvukových zariadení, ako je napríklad zosilnenie vstupného signálu z prehrávača prenosových zvukových médií alebo na zosilnenie audio signálu v televíznej technike. Vlastný návrh je možné realizovať z bežne dostupných súčiastok.This bachelor thesis deals with designing stereo audio power amplifier, which specified functions such as control of volume, depths, treble and balance, are contoled by 16-bit microcontroler with digital potentiometers. Setting those functions is pictured on simple LCD display. Opted amplifier is easy to control ergo it finds use in wide spectre of audio devices such as ampliffing input signal from transmission audio media player or audio signal in television devices. Used design is able to be realized of easy to get components.
ASSESSMENT OF RISK TO DISTRIBUTION WORKERS
Ovaj rad predstavlja analizu rizika stradavanja radnika na održavanju postrojenja srednjeg napona distribucijske tvrtke. Proizašao je iz niza istraživanja (povrede na radu, vrijeme na održavanju postrojenja, kvarovi sa zemljom i kvarovi uzemljivača) i predstavlja skup svih prikupljenih relevantnih informacija o ugrozi radnika.
Važnost ovoga rada je što se u osnovi bavi kvarovima, zastojima, prekidima, ali i popravcima (predviđanjem, otkrivanjem i otklanjanjem kvarova), održavanjima, obnavljanjima, unaprjeđenjima i poboljšanjima tehničkih sustava, kao i posljedicama kvarova, kako u tehničkim sustavima, tako i u okolišu tehničkih sustava.
Radnici distribucije električne energije najvećim su dijelom svog radnog vremena na poslovima održavanja elektroenergetskih objekata, tj. električnih mreža i postrojenja srednjeg i niskog napona. Tijekom rada nalaze se u potencijalno opasnoj okolini koja može ugroziti njihovo zdravlje i život. Naravno da moraju biti obučeni za rad na siguran način i koristiti sredstva zaštite na radu, no opasnosti se time ne uklanjaju u potpunosti, nego se tek time smanjuje mogućnost ozljede i njezina veličina. Sve tvrtke, pa i one koje se bave distribucijom električne energije, vode računa o troškovima u kojima veliki dio otpada na troškove ljudskog rada. Trošak je stoga i ozljeda radnika za vrijeme rada, što zbog bolovanja, što zbog mogućih odšteta koje će sve više biti značajan faktor u poslovanju tvrtke. Stoga je potrebno unaprijed sagledati sve potencijalne opasnosti koje mogu ugroziti zdravlje i život radnika za vrijeme rada na održavanju. Upravljanje takvim rizicima postat će sve više zadaća svih tvrtki, ne toliko iz humanih razloga, koliko iz razloga držanja troškova pod kontrolom.This article presents an analysis of the risk to workers maintaining the medium-voltage facilities of distribution companies, as derived from a series of investigations (injuries at work, time spent on equipment maintenance, ground faults and failures in the grounding system) and represents a group of all the relevant information collected on hazards to workers.
The importance of this study is that it is basically concerned with failures, stoppages and interruptions but also repairs (the forecasting, detecting and eliminating of failures), maintenance, replacement, advancements and improvements in the technical systems, as well as the consequences of failures in technical systems and the surroundings thereof. Electricity distribution workers spend most of their working time on the tasks of maintaining electric power facilities, i.e. electricity networks and medium-voltage and low-voltage electric power facilities. While they are working, they are in a potentially hazardous environment that can endanger their health and lives. Naturally, they must be trained to work in a safe manner and use protective equipment. This does not completely eliminate the hazards but in this way the potential for injury and the severity thereof are reduced. All companies, including those engaged in the distribution of electrical energy, take costs into account, much of which are for human labor. Worker injury during working time is also an expenditure, due to sick leave and potential damages, which will be increasingly significant factors in company operations. Therefore, it is important to review all the potential hazards that can endanger the health and life of a worker during maintenance work. Modification of the 3D printer for the processing of the high-performance thermoplastic polymers in the production process of transport system components
Nowadays, the ability to process the high-performance thermoplastic polymers has been still the domain of the industrial 3D printers. This article describes the possibilities of the commercial 3D printer modification to achieve the required boundary conditions for the processing of the high-performance thermoplastics with adequate mechanical properties. These materials have a very high melting point, and it is inevitable to ensure this increased temperature in the entire print volume. Therefore, it was necessary to perform the numerical simulations focused mainly on the thermal load of the 3D printer construction. Ovčara – the Grey Zone of the International Community (1992-1994)
Masovna grobnica na Ovčari jedan je od najtragičnijih podsjetnika na žrtvu pretrpljenu u Domovinskom ratu kada je najmanje 200 ranjenika iz vukovarske bolnice odvedeno i smaknuto u blizini poljoprivrednog dobra VUPIK-a na Ovčari. Prva javna saznanja o događaju u blizini Ovčare javljaju se u listopadu 1992. godine objavom članka u Vjesniku naslovljenog „Ranjenike su izveli na stražnji izlaz“, na temelju svjedočenja preživjelog, kasnije zarobljenika razmijenjenog u Nemetinu 1992. godine. S obzirom na to da se ekshumaciji posmrtnih ostataka pristupilo tek pune četiri godine nakon otkrića grobnice, odnosno u rujnu i listopadu 1996. godine, ovim radom pokušava se na temelju dostupnih dokumenata internetskih digitalnih baza ICTY-ja, sveučilišta Case Western Reserved u Ohiju (Cleveland) te onodobne periodike utvrditi koji su ključni čimbenici utjecali na otkrivanje masovne grobnice i njeno istraživanje te slijedom njih koji su razlozi utjecali na to da se ekshumaciji pristupi tek nakon što ICTY podiže optužnice u slučajevima tzv. Vukovarske trojke i Slavka Dokmanovića.The mass grave at Ovčara is one of the most tragic reminders of the sufferings of the Homeland War when 200 wounded persons from Vukovar Hospital were taken away and executed near the estate of VUPIK (Vukovar Agricultural Industrial Complex) at Ovčara. The first public insights into the occurrences near Ovčara were provided in October 1992 in the article published in Vjesnik entitled “The Wounded were Taken Away Through the Rear Exit” on the basis of the testimony of a survivor, later a prisoner who was exchanged in Nemetin in 1992. Paying due attention to the exhumation of the mortal remains not having been carried out until four whole years after the discovery of the mass grave, that is to say in September and October 1996, this paper endeavours to determine the key factors that affected its discovery and research on the basis of accessible digital database documents of the ICTY at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and according to the periodicals of the time; on the basis of these documents it is endeavoured to determine the reasons why the exhumation was performed only after the ICTY had already indicted the “Vukovar Three” and Slavko Dokmanović
