    Desain Konseptual Teras Reaktor Cepat Berumur Panjang Berpendingin S-CO2 dengan Bahan Bakar Uranium Metalik Alam

    Telah dibuat sebuah desain konsep teras reaktor cepat berpendingin S-CO2 dengan bahan bakar uranium metalik alam yang dapat beroperasi dalam waktu yang lama (berumur panjang). Metode penyusunan bahan bakar dilakukan menggunakan strategi burn-up modified CANDLE (Constant Axial shape of Neutron flux, nuclide densities and power shape During Life of Energy production). Strategi pembakaran CANDLE yang dimodifikasi dengan region pertama berada di dekat region terakhir telah diterapkan. Perhitungan teras reaktor dilakukan menggunakan modul CITATION pada sistem kode SRAC (Standard Reactor Analysis Code). Tahap awal penelitian dengan menghitung sel bahan bakar menggunakan modul PIJ sebagai input siklus telah dilakukan. Parameter perhitungan yang diamati adalah nilai faktor multiplikasi efektif (k-eff), distribusi daya arah aksial dan radial serta reaktivitas pada teras reaktor. Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan nilai k-eff dari awal siklus pembakaran sekitar 1,0490 hingga akhir siklus sebesar 1,0598. Distribusi daya arah aksial paling besar terjadi pada ketinggian teras 115 cm yaitu sebesar 1,9824 watt/cc. Sedangkan untuk distribusi daya arah radial paling besar terjadi di tengah teras yaitu sebesar 2,1697 watt/cc. Nilai  reaktivitas rata-rata selama waktu operasi sebesar 0,0562. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, keadaan teras reaktor memenuhi syarat untuk beroperasi. The conceptual design of a fast reactor core has been made with S-CO2 as a coolant and natural metallic uranium as a fuel, which can operate for a long time (long-life reactor). The fuel preparation method uses a strategy of burn-up modified CANDLE (Constant Axial shape of Neutron flux, nuclide density, and power shape During Life of  Energy production). The modified CANDLE burning strategy with the first region near the last region has been implemented. The reactor core calculation is performed using the CITATION module on the SRAC (Standard Reactor Analysis Code) code system. The initial phase of research by counting fuel cells using the PIJ module as a cycle input has been carried out. The calculation parameters observed were effective multiplication factor (k-eff), axial and radial power distribution, and reactivity on the reactor core. The calculation results show the k-eff value from the burning of life (BOL) cycle around 1.0490 until the end of the cycle of 1.0598. The largest axial power distribution occurs at the reactor core height of 115 cm,  equal to 1.9824 watts/cc, whereas the largest radial power distribution occurs in the center of the core, which is equal to 2.1697 watts/cc. The average reactivity value during the operation time of around 0.0562. Based on these results, the reactor core condition qualifies for operation

    Enhancing Students’ Speaking Skill by Applying Think Pair Share Technique to the Seventh Grade Students of SMP Tri Sakti Lubuk Pakam

    This research was mainly conducted in order to prove that Think Pair Share Technique  could improve speaking skill of the seventh grade students of SMP Tri Sakti Lubuk Pakam and to describe their responses towards think pair share technique in the processes of learning speaking skill. The quantitative data analysis showed the mean score increase from 41,7 in Pre-test with 0% of the students got score ≥ 70, in Formative-test 49,16 with 0% of the students got score ≥ 70, and 60,52 in Post-test with 55,55% of the students got score ≥ 70. This is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research findings showed that teaching speaking skill by applying Think Pair Share Technique to the seventh grade students of SMP Tri Sakti Lubuk Pakam could improve their speaking skill.     ANALISIS NEUTRONIK KEKRITISAN TERAS REAKTOR NUSCALE BERBAHAN BAKAR DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN SOFTWARE OPENMC

    [Title: Neutronic Analysis of the criticality level of the nuscale reactor core with  fuel using the  openMC software] This study analyzed the design of the NuScale reactor, which aims to determine the level of criticality by modeling the shape of the cell pin, assembly, and core with nuclear fuel in the form of uranium dioxide, which will be varied by changing the percentage of uranium-235 content as much as 0% to 7% by using monte carlo methods in OpenMC program code. This study was conducted to obtain the design of nuclear reactors as well as the calculation of the effective multiplication factor, fission reaction rate, and neutron flux distribution for two years of the combustion process (Burn-up). The result of the calculation for the effective multiplication factor and reaction rate states that the greater the percentage of enrichment in uranium-235, the greater the value of the resulting in both parameters. While the distribution of neutron flux produces the most significant value in the middle region or center of the fuel and is seen from the average value produced, and the smallest value is at the edge of the cell. The analysis of this NuScale reactor can later be used as a reference in preparing a safe and efficient reactor core. &nbsp

    TEACHING VOCABULARY BY USING SUBSTITUTION AND CUED RESPONSE DRILLS TECHNIQUE TO THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP NEGERI 41 MEDAN

    In learning a language, the first thing people should learn is vocabulary. Vocabulary is one of the essential aspects of language.  Without vocabulary nothing can be conveyed.  In other words, vocabulary is the core of the language itself.  The aim of this study is to find out whether or not Substitution and Cued Response Drills Technique gives improvement on students’ vocabulary mastery.  The subject of the study is the students of Class VIII E of SMP Negeri 41 Medan in the Academic Year of 2017/2018.  Vocabulary test, questionnaire, observation sheet and field notes were used as the instruments for collecting data. The results of the study showed the improvement of the students’ vocabulary mastery.  It is proven by the students’ mean score of each test: pre test is 45.37, formative test is 58.28 and post test is 70.12.  Moreover, the improvement could also be seen from the Minimum Mastery Criteria (Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimum) that showed the percentage of students’ score of pre test is 9.37%, formative test is 31.25%, and post test is 56.25%.  It can be concluded that there is a progress on student score percentage namely 46.88% from pre-test to post-test based on KKM. Therefore, the application of Substitution and Cued Response Drills Technique is suitable to teach vocabulary to the students

    IMPROVING STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION THROUGH LISTEN READ DISCUSS (LRD) STRATEGY

    This research was conducted in order to find out wheter LRD Strategy can improve students’ Reading Comprehension in Recount Text and to know the students’ responses toward the learning reading comprehension through LRD Strategy. The subjects of this research were the tenth grade students at SMA Budi Murni 3 Medan. In conducting this research, the writer used Classroom Action Research (CAR) as the method of the research. The data collected used quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data was gained from the result of pre-test, formative test and post-test. Meanwhile, qualitative data was gained from the result of field notes, observation sheets and questionnaire toward students and teacher activity. The result showed that LRD Strategy can improve the students’ reading comprehension especially in recount text. The improvement can be seen from the student’s mean score in the pre-test is 52.41, in the formative test is 74.48, and in the post-test is 80. Furthermore, the students’ responses toward the method of the teaching learning process sound great because above 90% of the students are interested, motivated and understand the lesson with LRD Strategy

    IMPROVING THE TWELFTH GRADE STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY THROUGH STORY TELLING TECHNIQUE IN SMA SANTO PETRUS MEDAN

    Vocabulary mastery is the basic language aspect that must be mastered before mastering English skill. The more words the students learn, the more they can understand and express their idea in that language. When they have inadequate vocabulary, they can say little things because they do not know how to say it in that language. That is why this study was conducted in order to improve the students’ vocabulary mastery. Storytelling technique can help students for remembering or mastering vocabulary. The objectives of this study are to find out whether Storytelling technique can improve the students’ English vocabulary mastery and find out the students’ responses after being taught by using Storytelling technique. The subjects of this study were the twelfth grade students of SMA Santo Petrus Medan. In conducting this study the writer used Classroom Action Research (CAR) as the method of the study. Tests were used to gather the quantitative data. In addition, field notes and observation sheet were used to gather qualitative data. Based on the finding of this study, it showed in pre-test only 4 students (16%) who passed KKM (Mastery Minimum Criterion) and in post-test 22 students (88%). The result of this study revealed that there was a significant improvement of the students’ achievements in the pre-test and in the post-test. It could be seen from the improvement of the students’ mean score 59.52 in pre-test to 80.48 in post-test. Furthermore, the students were interested in Storytelling technique. The analysis of the questionnaire showed that most of students agree to learn vocabulary by using Storytelling technique. It could be seen from the table, it showed that total of agree 47.2%. Therefore, Storytelling technique was an effective technique in helping students to improve their vocabulary mastery

    Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan berdasarkan latar belakang permasalahan bahwakurangnya akses informasi yang menyangkut potensi pariwisata yang bersifat sinematik dianggapsebagai salah satu faktor yang menjadikan Kampung Nde tidak menjadi destinasi wisata unggulandan ditakutkan akan hilang. Padahal kampung ini menyimpan kekayaan budaya sunda yang masihterjaga. Selain itu, kampung asri yang terletak di kecamatan Sukaresmi, Kabupaten Cianjur inimenyimpan kekayaan alam yang tidak kalah dari wisata lain.Hasil observasi menunjukan bahwa masyarakat, khususnya pemuda, Kampung Ndemasih kesulitan dalam hal teknik merekam, penyuntingan, dan mempublikasikan rekaman merekasebagai alat promosi Wisata Alam dan Budaya Kampung Nde. Proses promosi hanya dilakukandengan cara yang sporadis. Hal tersebut tentu menjadikan Kampung Nde tidak menjadi daerahwisata prioritas bagi para wisatawan dan ditakutkan akan hilang.Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberikan pemahaman yangsistematis mengenai sinematografi sebagai upaya mempromosikan Kampung Nde. Hal tersebutdapat berimbas kepada peningkatan kualitas ekonomi masyarakat setempat.Materi pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan dengan cara tatap muka. Tatap muka sendiridapat memberikan dampak yang signifikan karena masyarakat Kampung Nde akan diberikanpemahaman, latihan, dan pendampingan secara langsung.Masyarakat Kampung Nde merupakan subjek pengabdian masyarakat ini.     THE APPLICATION OF THINK-TALK-WRITE STRATEGY TO IMPROVE THE TENTH GRADE OF SMA SANTO YOSEPH MEDAN STUDENTS’ SKILL IN WRITING RECOUNT TEXT

    The aim of this study is to find whether Think – Talk – Write Strategy works effectively on improving the tenth grade students’ achievement in writing recount texts and to know the students’ responses after being taught by using Think – Talk – Write Strategy . in order to  achieve the objectives of study, a classroom action research was designed and carried out in this study. The subjects of this study were 32 students of class X- MIA2  OF SMA Santo Yoseph Medan in academic year 2018/2019. Test, observation sheet, and field notes were used as a instruments for collecting data. The results of the study showed significant improvement of the students’ skill in writing. It is proved by the students’ mean score of each test: pre-test was 57,5%, formative test was 67,22% and post-test  was 83,88% . In addition, the, the analysis result of the observation sheet and field notes showed Think – Talk – Write Strategy channge the students’ learning behavior being better than before. They were more enthusiastic during the teaching learning process in each cycle. The analysis result of questionnaire showed that Think – Talk – Write Strategy was useful to most of students to improve their learnig interest in writing recount text. Based on the results of those study instruments, it can be concluded that Think – Talk – Write Strategy as learning strategy gives the improvement to students’ skill in writing recount text. It is recommended for English teacher to apply Think – Talk – Write Strategy in teaching writing skill in order to improve students’ skill in writing expecially recount text.Â
