CP properties of symmetry-constrained two-Higgs-doublet models
The two-Higgs-doublet model can be constrained by imposing Higgs-family
symmetries and/or generalized CP symmetries. It is known that there are only
six independent classes of such symmetry-constrained models. We study the CP
properties of all cases in the bilinear formalism. An exact symmetry implies CP
conservation. We show that soft breaking of the symmetry can lead to
spontaneous CP violation (CPV) in three of the classes.Comment: 14 pages, 2 tables, revised version adapted to the journal

Constraining parameter space in type-II two-Higgs doublet model in light of a 126 GeV Higgs boson
We explore the implications of a 126 GeV Higgs boson indicated by the recent
LHC results for two-Higgs doublet model (2HDM). Identifying the 126 GeV Higgs
boson as either the lighter or heavier of CP even neutral Higgs bosons in 2HDM,
we examine how the masses of Higgs fields and mixing parameters can be
constrained by the theoretical conditions and experimental constraints. The
theoretical conditions taken into account are the vacuum stability,
perturbativity and unitarity required to be satisfied up to a cut-off scale. We
also show how bounds on the masses of Higgs bosons and mixing parameters depend
on the cut-off scale. In addition, we investigate whether the allowed regions
of parameter space can accommodate particularly the enhanced di-photon signals,
ZZ* and WW* decay modes of the Higgs boson, and examine the prediction of the
signal strength of Z{\gamma} decay mode for the allowed regions of the
parameter space.Comment: To be published in JHEP, 20 pages, 11 figures, Figures and results

Detection and phylogenetic analysis of Orf virus from sheep in Brazil: a case report
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p><it>Orf virus </it>(ORFV), the prototype of the genus <it>Parapoxvirus </it>(PPV), is the etiological agent of contagious ecthyma, a severe exanthematic dermatitis that afflicts domestic and wild small ruminants. Although South American ORFV outbreaks have occurred and diagnosed there are no South American PPV major membrane glycoprotein B2L gene nucleotide sequences available.</p> <p>Case presentation</p> <p>an outbreak of ovine contagious ecthyma in Midwest Brazil was investigated. The diagnosis was based on clinical examinations and molecular biology techniques. The molecular characterization of the virus was done using PCR amplification, cloning and DNA sequencing of the B2L gene. The phylogenetic analysis demonstrated a high degree of identity with ORFV strains, and the isolate was closest to the ORFV-India 82/04 isolate. Another Brazilian ORFV isolate, NE1, was sequenced for comparative analysis and also showed a high degree of identity with an Asian ORFV strain.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Distinct ORFV strains are circulating in Brazil. This is the first report on the phylogenetic analysis of an ORFV in South America.</p
Symmetries and renormalisation in two-Higgs-doublet models
We discuss the classification of symmetries and the corresponding symmetry
groups in the two-Higgs-doublet model (THDM). We give an easily useable method
how to determine the symmetry class and corresponding symmetry group of a given
THDM Higgs potential. One of the symmetry classes corresponds to a Higgs
potential with several simultaneous generalised CP symmetries. Extending the CP
symmetry of this class to the Yukawa sector in a straightforward way, the
so-called maximally-CP-symmetric model (MCPM) is obtained. We study the
evolution of the quartic Higgs-potential parameters under a change of
renormalisation point. Finally we compute the so called oblique parameters S,
T, and U, in the MCPM and we identify large regions of viable parameter space
with respect to electroweak precision measurements. We present the
corresponding allowed regions for the masses of the physical Higgs bosons.
Reasonable ranges for these masses, up to several hundred GeV, are obtained
which should make the (extra) Higgs bosons detectable in LHC experiments.Comment: 16 pages, 2 figure

Fast WDM provisioning with minimal probing: the first field experiments for DC exchanges
We propose an approach to estimate the end-to-end GSNR accurately in a short
time when a data center interconnect (DCI) network operator receives a service
request from users, not by measuring the GSNR at the operational route and
wavelength for the End-End optical path but by simply applying a QoT probe
channel link by link, at a convenient wavelength/modulation-format for
measurement. Assuming connections between coherent transceivers of various
frequency ranges, modulators, and modulation formats, we propose a new device
software architecture in which the DCI network operator optimizes the
transmission mode between user transceivers with high accuracy using only
standard parameters such as Bit Error Rate. In this paper, we first
experimentally built three different routes of 32 km/72 km/122 km in the C-band
to confirm the accuracy of this approach. For the operational end-to-end GSNR
measurements, the accuracy estimated from the sum of the measurements for each
link was 0.6 dB, and the wavelength-dependent error was about 0.2 dB. Then,
using field fibers deployed in the NSF COSMOS testbed (deployed in an urban
area), a Linux-based transmission device software architecture, and coherent
transceivers with different optical frequency ranges, modulators, and
modulation formats, the fast WDM provisioning of an optical path was completed
within 6 minutes (with a Q-factor error of about 0.7 dB).Comment: 9 pages, 11 figures, 3 table
