    Get PDF

Much of the higher education institutions began to adopt the use of audio-visual resources in the classroom because it is considered by many actors involved as a facilitator and accelerator of the teaching process. We can see that in recent times a large amount organizations from educational system has been adopted the audiovisuals resources in classrooms due to assess from many actors connect to higher education arena as a spur and a mean to accelerate teaching process. Besides, the usage of this kind of resource is legimated from Education Bureau in Brazil when it considers as a positive criterion in the evaluation process of educational organizations. However a few studies have been conducted to verify the actual efficiency of the audiovisual resources in the teaching process and its influence in the performance e motivation on the student. Due to this consideration the purpose of this study is verify how de students have been using this kind of resource and the degree of relevance they credit to it. The present inquiry has its basis on the sociological view of Institutional Theory and the sample contemplates 90 students. The results were statistically treated with SPSS throughout parametric testes. The results of this research clearly point to the institutionalization of the use of audiovisual resources in the classroom. However, these results point to a flaw in the system, since the student is to consider that knowledge in topics (characteristic of the presentations), and often partial, as sufficient for their formation.

Polypyrrole/phytase amperometric biosensors for the determination of phytic acid in standard solutions

    Get PDF
Amperometric biosensors based on the physical immobilization of phytase (PhyA) into polypyrrole (PPy) films were prepared in aqueous medium. The PPy/PhyA films were characterized by cyclic voltammetry, and surface and structural characterization techniques, SEM and FTIR. Both voltammetric and amperometric transduction methods were used in order to detect phytic acid in acetate buffer at pH 5.5 at room temperature. The biosensors exhibited a detection limit of 0.15 mmol L-1 and a linear range of phytic acid content from 0.5 to 2.0 mmol L-1, which are adequate values for typical analyses of phytic acids in most seeds, grains, and vegetablesFAPESPCAPESCNP

Exploiting cascade reaction in bienzyme layer-by-layer films

Control of supramolecular architectures inherent in layer-by-layer (LbL) films allows for synergistic effects between the film components, as in reactions under controlled conditions. In this paper we show that a bienzyme system can be produced in LbL films, in which the product of a reaction catalyzed by invertase (INV) is used in a catalysis process involving glucose oxidase (GOx). As a proof of principle, simultaneous detection of glucose and sucrose is demonstrated for an optimized film architecture comprising poly allyllamine hydrochloride (PAH) alternated with INV + GOx layers (PAH/(GOx + INV))10. Though the sensitivity for sucrose is low because the product from the reaction with invertase has low electroactivity, the results confirm that cascade reactions can be performed in a controlled manner in LbL films with possible applications in sensors and bioelectrochemical devices.FAPESPCNPqCAPESnBioNet Films & Sensor

Information visualization techniques for sensing and biosensing

    Get PDF
The development of new methods and concepts to visualize massive amounts of data holds the promise to revolutionize the way scientific results are analyzed, especially when tasks such as classification and clustering are involved, as in the case of sensing and biosensing. In this paper we employ a suite of software tools, referred to as PEx-Sensors, through which projection techniques are used to analyze electrical impedance spectroscopy data in electronic tongues and related sensors. The possibility of treating high dimension datasets with PEx-Sensors is advantageous because the whole impedance vs. frequency curves obtained with various sensing units and for a variety of samples can be analyzed at once. It will be shown that non-linear projection techniques such as Sammon's Mapping or IDMAP provide higher distinction ability than linear methods for sensor arrays containing units capable of molecular recognition, apparently because these techniques are able to capture the cooperative response owing to specific interactions between the sensing unit material and the analyte. In addition to allowing for a higher sensitivity and selectivity, the use of PEx-Sensors permits the identification of the major contributors for the distinguishing ability of sensing units and of the optimized frequency range. The latter will be illustrated with sensing units made with layer-by-layer (LbL) films to detect phytic acid, whose capacitance data were visualized with Parallel Coordinates. Significantly, the implementation of PEx-Sensors was conceived so as to handle any type of sensor based on any type of principle of detection, representing therefore a generic platform for treating large amounts of data for sensors and biosensors.FAPESPCNPqCAPESINCT-INEOnBioNet Films & Sensor

    No full text
This work analyses six projects in which physics questioning games were elaborated and applied in High School classrooms from 1998 to 2001. The analysis had not only allowed to distinguish the characteristics of each project and also to communicate they have evolved going through three stages. The improvements introduced, mainly at the third stage, represent a major opportunity for feedback among participants (makers, appliers and players). The evolution of the games kept a tied connection with the interests, anguishes and questionings, but mainly with interpersonal and theoretical influences, lived by the teacher/researcher who was the creator of all these projects. There were two stages in the teacher reflection/action process. The first stage was characterized by her search for making the teaching of physics enjoyable; the second stage by her persistence in improving the games under the influence of Paul Black's theoretical perspective about formative assessment, which was the study subject of her research group. The last stage definitely contributed for the games improvements
