Uniqueness of solutions of the stochastic Navier-Stokes equation with invariant measure given by the enstrophy
A stochastic Navier-Stokes equation with space-time Gaussian white noise is
considered, having as infinitesimal invariant measure a Gaussian measure
\mu_{\nu} whose covariance is given in terms of the enstrophy. Pathwise
uniqueness for \mu_{\nu}-a.e. initial velocity is proven for solutions having

Maxillary nerve block: A comparison between the greater palatine canal and high tuberosity approaches.
Aim: Analgesia and anxiolysis during dental procedures are important for dental care and
patient compliance. This study aims to compare two classical maxillary nerve block (MNB)
techniques: the greater palatine canal (GPC) and the high tuberosity (HT) approaches,
seldom used in routine dental practice.
Methods: The study was conducted on 30 patients, scheduled for sinus lift surgery, who
were randomly divided into 2 groups: the GPC approach to the MNB was used in 15 and the
HT one in the other 15 patients. Anxiolysis was also used, depending on the results of the
pre- preoperative assessment. Patients\u2019 sensations/pain during the procedure, details about
anesthesia, and the dentist\u2019s considerations were all recorded. Data are expressed as mean
\ub1SD. Statistical tests including ANOVA, \u3c72 following Yates correction and linear regression
analysis were carried out. A < 0.05 p value was considered significant.
Results: Study results showed that the anesthesia was effective and constant in the molar
and premolar area. Additional infiltrations of local anesthetics were necessary for vestibular
and palatal areas in the anterior oral cavity, respectively, in the GPC and HT groups. The
two techniques were equally difficult to carry out in the dentist\u2019s opinion. There were
no differences in pain or unpleasant sensations between the two groups, nor were any
anesthesia-related complications reported.
Conclusion: The GPC approach ensures effective anesthesia in the posterior maxillary
region as far as both the dental pulp and the palatal/vestibular mucous membranes are
concerned; the HT approach did not guarantee adequate anesthesia of the pterygopalatine
branch of the maxillary nerve. These regional anesthesia techniques were characterized
by a low incidence of intra and postoperative pain, no noteworthy complications, and high
patient satisfaction

Mechanisms producing different precipitation patterns over northâeastern Italy: insights from HyMeXâSOP1 and previous events
During the first HyMeX Special Observation Period (SOP1) field campaign, the target site of northâeastern Italy (NEI) experienced a large amount of precipitation, locally exceeding the climatological values and distributed among several heavyârainfall episodes. In particular, two events that occurred during the last period of the campaign drew our attention. These events had common largeâscale patterns and a similar mesoscale setting, characterised by southerly lowâlevel flow interacting with the Alpine orography, but the precipitation distribution was very different. During Intensive Observing Period IOP18 (31 Octoberâ1 November 2012), convective systems were responsible for intense rainfall mainly located over a flat area of the eastern Po Valley, well upstream of the orography. Conversely, during IOP19 (4/5 November 2012), heavy precipitation affected only the Alpine area. In addition to IOP18 and IOP19, the present study analyses other heavyâprecipitation episodes that display similar characteristics and which occurred over NEI during the autumn of recent years. A highâresolution (2 km grid spacing) nonâhydrostatic NWP model and available observations are used for this purpose.
The two different observed precipitation patterns are explained in terms of interaction between the impinging flow and the Alps. Depending on the thermodynamic profile, convection can be triggered when the impinging flow is forced to rise over a preâexisting coldâair layer at the base of the orography. In this situation a persistent blockedâflow condition and upstream convergence are responsible for heavy rain localized over the plain. Conversely, if convection does not develop, flowâover conditions are established and heavy rain affects the Alps. Numerical parameters proposed in the literature are used to support the analysis.
Finally, the role of evaporative cooling beneath the convective systems is evaluated. It turns out that the stationarity of the systems upstream of the Alps is mainly attributable to persistent blockedâflow conditions, while convective outflow slightly modifies the location of precipitation
Oral malodor in Special Care Patients: current knowledge
Epidemiological studies report that about 50% of the population may have oral malodor
with a strong social and psychological impact in their daily life. When intra-oral causes are
excluded, referral to an appropriate medical specialist is paramount for management and
treatment of extra-oral causes. The intra-oral causes of halitosis are highly common, and the
dentist is the central clinician to diagnose and treat them. Pseudohalitosis or halitophobia
may occur and an early identification of these conditions by the dentist is important in order
to avoid unnecessary dental treatments for patients who need psychological or psychiatric
therapy. The organoleptic technique is still considered the most reliable examination method
to diagnose genuine halitosis. Special needs patients are more prone than others to have
oral malodor because of concurrent systemic or metabolic diseases, and medications.
The present report reviews halitosis, its implications, and the management in special care
dentistry
V405 Aurigae: A High Magnetic Field Intermediate Polar
Our simultaneous multicolor (UBVRI) circular polarimetry has revealed nearly
sinusoidal variation over the WD spin cycle, and almost symmetric positive and
negative polarization excursions. Maximum amplitudes are observed in the B and
V bands (+-3 %). This is the first time that polarization peaking in the blue
has been discovered in an IP, and suggests that V405 Aur is the highest
magnetic field IP found so far. The polarized flux spectrum is similar to those
found in polars with magnetic fields in the range B ~ 25-50 MG. Our low
resolution circular spectropolarimetry has given evidence of transient features
which can be fitted by cyclotron harmonics n = 6, 7, and 8, at a field of B =
31.5 +- 0.8 MG, consistent with the broad-band polarized flux spectrum. Timings
of the circular polarization zero crossovers put strict upper limits on WD spin
period changes and indicate that the WD in V405 Aur is currently accreting
closely at the spin equilibrium rate, with very long synchronization
timescales, T_s > 10^9 yr. For the observed spin to orbital period ratio,
P_{spin}/P_{orb} = 0.0365, and P_{orb} ~ 4.15 hr, existing numerical accretion
models predict spin equilibrium condition with B ~ 30 MG if the mass ratio of
the binary components is q_1 ~ 0.4. The high magnetic field makes V405 Aur a

Hydrogen vs. Battery in the long-term operation. A comparative between energy management strategies for hybrid renewable microgrids
The growth of the worldâs energy demand over recent decades in relation to energy intensity and demography is clear. At the same time, the use of renewable energy sources is pursued to address decarbonization targets, but the stochasticity of renewable energy systems produces an increasing need for management systems to supply such energy volume while guaranteeing, at the same time, the security and reliability of the microgrids. Locally distributed energy storage systems (ESS) may provide the capacity to temporarily decouple production and demand. In this sense, the most implemented ESS in local energy districts are smallâmedium-scale electrochemical batteries. However, hydrogen systems are viable for storing larger energy quantities thanks to its intrinsic high mass-energy density. To match generation, demand and storage, energy management systems (EMSs) become crucial. This paper compares two strategies for an energy management system based on hydrogen-priority vs. battery-priority for the operation of a hybrid renewable microgrid. The overall performance of the two mentioned strategies is compared in the long-term operation via a set of evaluation parameters defined by the unmet load, storage efficiency, operating hours and cumulative energy. The results show that the hydrogen-priority strategy allows the microgrid to be led towards island operation because it saves a higher amount of energy, while the battery-priority strategy reduces the energy efficiency in the storage round trip. The main contribution of this work lies in the demonstration that conventional EMS for microgridsâ operation based on battery-priority strategy should turn into hydrogen-priority to keep the reliability and independence of the microgrid in the long-term operation
Beam loading assisted matching scheme for high quality plasma acceleration in linear regime
We propose and we numerically design a working point for beam driven plasma wakefield acceleration that allows us to preserve the witness quality. This working point is a new scheme where a low density driver generates a wakefield in linear regime and the witness transverse evolution is dominated by the beam loading effect. We derived optimal matching conditions to prevent the phase space degradation by means of a transverse envelope equation
Religious tourism and seduction: the case of Sacred Mount of Varallo
Since 2003 the Sacred Mount of Varallo is included in the World Heritage List of UNESCO because it represents a successful integration of architecture and fine art into a landscape of great beauty for spiritual reasons. As the other Sacred Mounts of Piemonte and Lombardia (Italy), it represents a place in witch all visitors (tourist or pilgrims) couldn\u2019t resist the attraction of and environment full of spiritual and natural seduction.
According to these characteristics, the paper aims to define who visits the Sacred Mount of Varallo and which experiences he/she is looking for. In this way we try to understand how a classical religious tourism destination could seduce the third millennium tourist.
The research methodology is based both on official statistical data, and on a questionnaire delivered to visitors
Phase-resolved far-ultraviolet HST spectroscopy of the peculiar magnetic white dwarf RE J0317-853
We present phase resolved FUV HST FOS spectra of the rapidly rotating, highly
magnetic white dwarf RE J0317-853. Using these data, we construct a new model
for the magnetic field morphology across the stellar surface. From an expansion
into spherical harmonics, we find the range of magnetic field strengths present
is 180-800MG. For the first time we could identify an absorption feature
present at certain phases at 1160A as a ``forbidden'' 1s_0 -> 2s_0 component,
due to the combined presence of an electric and magnetic field.Comment: 15 pages including 4 figures. Accepted for publication in ApJ Letter
