Growth and nutritional response of Nemared peach rootstock infected with Pratylenchus vulnus and the mycorrhizal fungus Glomus mosseae
Les effets de l'interaction entre #Pratylenchus vulnus et le champignon mycorrhizien #Glomus mosseae sur les porte-greffe de pĂȘcher "Nemared" ont Ă©tĂ© Ă©tudiĂ©s en microparcelles pendant deux saisons de croissance. Le poids frais des pieds, le diamĂštre de la tige, la longueur des pieds et le poids frais des racines sont significativement plus faibles chez les pieds infestĂ©s par le nĂ©matode - qu'ils soient ou non colonisĂ©s par #G. mosseae Ă l'aide de mycorrhizes provoquent une diminution de la population finale du nĂ©matode et du nombre de nĂ©matodes par gramme de racine par rapport aux pieds infestĂ©s par #P. vulnus et non traitĂ©s Ă l'aide du champignon. La colonisation par les mycorrhizes n'est pas affectĂ©e par la prĂ©sence du nĂ©matode. Chez les pieds infestĂ©s par le nĂ©matode, le Cu est le seul Ă©lĂ©ment dĂ©ficitaire dĂ©tectĂ© par analyse foliaire, quoique des taux faibles de fer y aient Ă©tĂ© observĂ©s. Myristic acid potentiates palmitic acid-induced lipotoxicity and steatohepatitis associated with lipodystrophy by sustaning de novo ceramide synthesis.
Palmitic acid (PA) induces hepatocyte apoptosis and fuels de novo ceramide synthesis in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). Myristic acid (MA), a free fatty acid highly abundant in copra/palmist oils, is a predictor of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and stimulates ceramide synthesis. Here we investigated the synergism between MA and PA in ceramide synthesis, ER stress, lipotoxicity and NASH. Unlike PA, MA is not lipotoxic but potentiated PA-mediated lipoapoptosis, ER stress, caspase-3 activation and cytochrome c release in primary mouse hepatocytes (PMH). Moreover, MA kinetically sustained PA-induced total ceramide content by stimulating dehydroceramide desaturase and switched the ceramide profile from decreased to increased ceramide 14:0/ceramide16:0, without changing medium and long-chain ceramide species. PMH were more sensitive to equimolar ceramide14:0/ceramide16:0 exposure, which mimics the outcome of PA plus MA treatment on ceramide homeostasis, than to either ceramide alone. Treatment with myriocin to inhibit ceramide synthesis and tauroursodeoxycholic acid to prevent ER stress ameliorated PA plus MA induced apoptosis, similar to the protection afforded by the antioxidant BHA, the pan-caspase inhibitor z-VAD-Fmk and JNK inhibition. Moreover, ruthenium red protected PMH against PA and MA-induced cell death. Recapitulating in vitro findings, mice fed a diet enriched in PA plus MA exhibited lipodystrophy, hepatosplenomegaly, increased liver ceramide content and cholesterol levels, ER stress, liver damage, inflammation and fibrosis compared to mice fed diets enriched in PA or MA alone. The deleterious effects of PA plus MA-enriched diet were largely prevented by in vivo myriocin treatment. These findings indicate a causal link between ceramide synthesis and ER stress in lipotoxicity, and imply that the consumption of diets enriched in MA and PA can cause NASH associated with lipodystrophy
Nonlinear supersymmetry: from classical to quantum mechanics
Quantization of the nonlinear supersymmetry faces a problem of a quantum
anomaly. For some classes of superpotentials, the integrals of motion admit the
corrections guaranteeing the preservation of the nonlinear supersymmetry at the
quantum level. With an example of the system realizing the nonlinear
superconformal symmetry, we discuss the nature of such corrections and

Phase operators, temporally stable phase states, mutually unbiased bases and exactly solvable quantum systems
We introduce a one-parameter generalized oscillator algebra A(k) (that covers
the case of the harmonic oscillator algebra) and discuss its finite- and
infinite-dimensional representations according to the sign of the parameter k.
We define an (Hamiltonian) operator associated with A(k) and examine the
degeneracies of its spectrum. For the finite (when k < 0) and the infinite
(when k > 0 or = 0) representations of A(k), we construct the associated phase
operators and build temporally stable phase states as eigenstates of the phase
operators. To overcome the difficulties related to the phase operator in the
infinite-dimensional case and to avoid the degeneracy problem for the
finite-dimensional case, we introduce a truncation procedure which generalizes
the one used by Pegg and Barnett for the harmonic oscillator. This yields a
truncated generalized oscillator algebra A(k,s), where s denotes the truncation
order. We construct two types of temporally stable states for A(k,s) (as
eigenstates of a phase operator and as eigenstates of a polynomial in the
generators of A(k,s)). Two applications are considered in this article. The
first concerns physical realizations of A(k) and A(k,s) in the context of
one-dimensional quantum systems with finite (Morse system) or infinite
(Poeschl-Teller system) discrete spectra. The second deals with mutually

Structure of Pion Photoproduction Amplitudes
We derive and apply the finite energy sum rules to pion photoproduction. We
evaluate the low energy part of the sum rules using several state-of-the-art
models. We show how the differences in the low energy side of the sum rules
might originate from different quantum number assignments of baryon resonances.
We interpret the observed features in the low energy side of the sum rules with
the expectation from Regge theory. Finally, we present a model, in terms of a
Regge-pole expansion, that matches the sum rules and the high-energy

Generalization of the Darboux transformation and generalized harmonic oscillators
The Darbroux transformation is generalized for time-dependent Hamiltonian
systems which include a term linear in momentum and a time-dependent mass. The
formalism for the -fold application of the transformation is also
established, and these formalisms are applied for a general quadratic system (a
generalized harmonic oscillator) and a quadratic system with an inverse-square
interaction up to N=2. Among the new features found, it is shown, for the
general quadratic system, that the shape of potential difference between the
original system and the transformed system could oscillate according to a
classical solution, which is related to the existence of coherent states in the
system

Stabilization of clayey soil for subgrade using rice husk ash (RHA) and sugarcane bagasse ash (SCBA)
This document studies the stabilization of the soil used as a subgrade, by adding locally available materials such as rice husk ash (RHA) and sugarcane bagasse ash (SCBA). These aggregates were added to the soil in substitution by weight between 5%, 7.5% and 10%. By adding these, the expansiveness is reduced while the maximum dry density increases, in addition the tendency of CBR is increasing and then tends to decrease proportionally to the addition of the aforementioned aggregates. This indicates a peak in CBR and expandability. The best result obtained from CBR was 33.75% with the 5% replacement mixtures
Global behavior of cosmological dynamics with interacting Veneziano ghost
In this paper, we shall study the dynamical behavior of the universe
accelerated by the so called Veneziano ghost dark energy component locally and
globally by using the linearization and nullcline method developed in this
paper. The energy density is generalized to be proportional to the Hawking
temperature defined on the trapping horizon instead of Hubble horizon of the
Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universe. We also give a prediction of the
fate of the universe and present the bifurcation phenomenon of the dynamical
system of the universe. It seems that the universe could be dominated by dark

Spectropolarimetry of the H-alpha line in Herbig Ae/Be stars
Using the HiVIS spectropolarimeter built for the Haleakala 3.7m AEOS
telescope, we have obtained a large number of high precision spectropolarimetrc
observations (284) of Herbig AeBe stars collected over 53 nights totaling more
than 300 hours of observing. Our sample of five HAeBe stars: AB Aurigae,
MWC480, MWC120, MWC158 and HD58647, all show systematic variations in the
linear polarization amplitude and direction as a function of time and
wavelength near the H-alpha line. In all our stars, the H-alpha line profiles
show evidence of an intervening disk or outflowing wind, evidenced by strong
emission with an absorptive component. The linear polarization varies by 0.2%
to 1.5% with the change typically centered in the absorptive part of the line
profile. These observations are inconsistent with a simple disk-scattering
model or a depolarization model which produce polarization changes centered on
the emmissive core. We speculate that polarized absorption via optical pumping
of the intervening gas may be the cause.Comment: Accepted for publication in ApJ Letter
