    Operation of the ATLAS end-cap calorimeters at sLHC luminosities, an experimental study

    The expected increase of luminosity at sLHC by a factor of ten with respect to LHC luminosities has serious consequences for the signal reconstruction, radiation hardness requirements and operations of the ATLAS liquid argon calorimeters (EMEC, HEC, FCAL) in the endcap, respectively forward region. Small modules of each type of calorimeter have been built. The layout and the components used are very close to the ones used in the construction of the ATLAS calorimeter. The goal is to simulate in the high intensity proton beam at IHEP /Protvino the particle impact as expected for ATLAS in sLHC. Depending on the position in pseudorapidity |η|, each forward calorimeter has to cope with a different particle and energy flux. Placing absorber elements in-between the various small calorimeter modules, the particle and energy flux as expected in ATLAS later - given the variation due to |η| and longitudinal position - can be simulated very well

    Import 02/11/2016This thesis focused on surveying in the process of completion of the building of nuclear power plant Mochovce - units 3 and 4. Concrete building structure of large area was chosen just the main production unit where they were concentrated in the most important technologies and the room the whole complex, including the reactor. In the first part of the work has been described by location, history, surveying activities for the project construction and completion of nuclear power plant and surveying equipment and measuring methods. The second part was devoted to particular geodetic tasks in accordance with the methodological instructions for surveying work for the project MO34. The result of my thesis has been set features: position, height, straight line and compared the results of the TLS method and spatial polar method.Diplomová práca bola zameraná na geodetické práce pri dostavbe stavebného objektu atómovej elektrárne Mochovce 3. a 4. blok. Z rozsiahleho areálu bol vybraný práve hlavný výrobný blok, kde boli sústredené najdôležitejšie technológie a miestnosti celého komplexu vrátane reaktorov. V prvej časti diplomovej práce bola popísaná lokalita, história, geodetické činnosti pre projekt výstavby a dostavby jadrovej elektrárne a geodetické vybavenie a metódy merania. Druhá časť bola venovaná jednotlivým geodetickým úlohám v súlade s metodickým návodom pre geodetickú činnosť pre projekt MO34.     The Ethnopolitics of the HZDS-SNS-ZRS Coalition Government in Slovakia from 1994 to 1998

    This article discusses the ethnopolitics of Vladimír Mečiar’s government in Slovakia in the period of years between 1994-1998, with a particular focus on the Hungarian minority. The introduction outlines ethnic heterogeneity in Slovakia, giving a brief historical background for some minorities. The next part covers the result of the 1994 parliamentary election, which led to the formation of the HZDS-SNS-ZRS coalition government headed by Vladimír Mečiar as Prime Minister. The study also includes the ideological profiles of the governmental parties, which are linked by strong accentuation of nationalism and statism. The article seeks to analyse the ethnopolitics of the government in the above-mentioned election term, evaluate its positive and negative aspects.     Factorization scheme and scale dependence in diffractive dijet production at low Q^2

    We calculate diffractive dijet production in deep-inelastic scattering at next-to-leading order of perturbative QCD, including contributions from direct and resolved photons, and compare our predictions to preliminary data from the H1 collaboration at HERA. We study how the cross section depends on the factorization scheme and scale M_\gamma at the virtual photon vertex for the occurrence of factorization breaking. The strong M_\gamma-dependence, which is present when only the resolved cross section is suppressed, is tamed by introducing the suppression also into the initial-state NLO correction of the direct part.Comment: 14 pages, 6 figure

    The VLQ Calorimeter of H1 at HERA: A Highly Compact Device for Measurements of Electrons and Photons under Very Small Scattering Angles

    In 1998, the detector H1 at HERA has been equipped with a small backward spectrometer, the Very Low Q^2 (VLQ) spectrometer comprising a silicon tracker, a tungsten - scintillator sandwich calorimeter, and a Time-of-Flight system. The spectrometer was designed to measure electrons scattered under very low angles, equivalent to very low squared four - momentum transfers Q^2, and high energy photons with good energy and spatial resolution. The VLQ was in operation during the 1999 and 2000 run periods.     One of the most challenging aspects of low x proton structure is the study of QCD dynamics - the evolution of partons between different kinematic regimes. In electron-proton deep-inelastic scattering, this can be investigated by studying processes in the target region of the proton - forward going jets. In this paper various measurements made at HERA by the H1 and ZEUS experiments are presented and compared to Monte Carlo models and fixed-order QCD calculations.Među najspornijim izazovima protonske strukture za male x je proučavanje QCD dinamike razvoja partona pri prijelazu među različitim kinematičkim uvjetima. To je moguće proučavanjem procesa u području protonske mete u duboko-neelastičnom raspršenju elektrona s protonima preko mlazova pod malim kutom. Predstavljamo više mjerenja suradnje H1 i ZEUS na HERI i uspoređujemo ih s Monte Carlo modelima i QCD računima određenog reda
