Metadiscourse In Covid-19 Vaccine Opinion Articles: A Contrastive Study Between American And Malaysian English-Language Online Newspapers
This paper seeks to explore the use of metadiscourse markers in COVID-19 vaccine
opinion articles in American and Malaysian online newspapers. The objectives in this study
include (1) to identify the metadiscourse categories and sub-categories used in Malaysian and
American online newspapers in COVID-19 vaccine opinion articles, (2) to investigate the
frequency of interactive and interactional metadiscourse markers in these two texts, (3) to
analyse how interactive and interactional metadiscourse markers are used to achieve
persuasion in the two texts, and (4) to investigate if there is any significant relationship
between the distribution and use of interactive and interactional metadiscourse in these texts.
In this study, descriptive research design with both qualitative and quantitative approach is
used. The research framework used in this study is Hyland’s (2005) taxonomy of
metadiscourse. The findings of this study reveal that both interactive and interactional
metadiscourse are present in American and Malaysian COVID-19 vaccine opinion articles.
However, there are similarities and differences in the way American and Malaysian writers
employ these markers in the writing of COVID-19 vaccine opinion articles
Excessive anticoagulation identified by emergency medical service through point-of-care coagulometry
Bleeding because of excessive anticoagulation is a well-recognized complication of coumadin therapy. In cases of potentially life-threatening bleeding such as intracranial haemorrhage, reversal of anticoagulation should be carried out as soon as possible. Here we report the case of an emergency patient in whom excessive anticoagulation was diagnosed at the scene by emergency medical service personnel through the use of a point-of-care coagulometer. Following hospital admission, findings were confirmed by central laboratory assessment of prothrombin time. The time gained through the use of portable coagulometers may contribute to improved pre-hospital emergency management of anticoagulated patients

Optimizing Shipping Operations through Real-Time Monitoring and Control: A Decision Support System for Container Stripping Processes
The shipping industry plays a vital role in the global economy, with container shipping being one of the critical components. Shipping companies outline the time for customer stripping days in its contracts. The availability of the containers depends on the stripping days. The stripping days’ tardiness will hinder the availability of the containers. Therefore, it is fundamental for shipping companies to monitor both the actual condition and the contract condition of stripping days to estimate container availability and prompt customers to expedite the unloading process. However, there has yet to be a tool for monitoring the actual and the contract conditions. In this study, we used the recorded container stripping data to analyze container stripping days, tardiness, and other important parameters that indicate the performance and reliability of stripping containers. These data were post-processed and analyzed using data mining methods, and the resulting information was visualized using a dashboard to facilitate quick and effortless monitoring the dashboard in this study depicts post-processed data on container stripping days and tardiness for each port of discharge, cargo, customer, and other parameters. The dashboard was constructed using Google Data Studio. As a result, the dashboard is expected to help companies monitor, control, and analyze customers with high tardiness, allowing companies to act and ensure that the number of available containers after stripping meets demand at a given time
Proximate composition, mineral content, cooking quality, and sensory properties of Kalinga mix and Moringa noodles
The main objective of this study is to develop an acceptable and nutrient-dense noodles from KALINGA mix and moringa. Materials for making the noodles such as KALINGA mix (rice, sesame seeds, mung bean), bread flour, and moringa powder were purchased at the local market of Los Baños, Laguna. Malnutrition in the Philippines remains to be a serious health problem, especially to low-income areas. Its challenges and enormity in the country require new research and innovations that are accessible and will make use of native resources to achieve better health and nutrition for the community. Hence an attempt to develop an acceptable and nutrient-dense noodles incorporating KALINGA mix and moringa. The noodles were prepared with different ratios of KALINGA mix (30g, 20g, 10g) and flour (70g, 80g, 90g, 100g). All samples were then added with 5g of moringa. The results of the study showed that all the cooking losses of the samples were below the technologically acceptable limit (≤8%). In the overall acceptability, the sample with 30g KALINGA has the highest mean score of 7.125 (like moderately). The proximate composition showed that the highest moisture content (7.64%), and crude protein (10.86%) were found in 10g KALINGA, whereas crude fat (15.57%), and ash (1.0%) were the highest in 30g KALINGA, crude fiber (0.73%) and NFE (69.77%) were highest in the control sample. For the mineral content, the control sample was highest in calcium (125 mg/100g), and iron (7.4mg/100g) while the 30g KALINGA had the lowest in both. Zinc is the same in all samples (1.2 mg/100g). In conclusion, the sample with 30g KALINGA was good in terms of its cooking quality, overall acceptability, and proximate composition. The control however was better in its calcium, and iron content

Autoeficácia, motivação e desempenho acadêmico de alunos durante à modalidade de aprendizagem flexível
Self-Efficacy is the belief that a person is capable of achieving a specific goal or performing a particular task while motivation represents the foundation for success in all activities that an individual engages in. This study aimed to determine the correlations between self-efficacy, motivation and academic performance of 862 students. Using spearman’s rho, results revealed that self-efficacy and motivation go along together for all students with different specializations. Most of the students’ grades are not directly affected by the motivation and self-efficacy. Responses of students for most of the challenges they encountered during the flexible learning mode are limited home setup for activities that require actual performances followed by the distraction they get from social media. Results of this study reveals that even during the pandemic, the students have positive outlook in life, but grades are not dependent on their self-efficacy and motivations. Automated Cardiac Realtime MRI Evaluation
We introduce our workflow to tackle automated evaluation of cardiac realtime MRI. The key approach is inspired by Active Learning and consists of N steps. First a limited amount of Training Data is annotated by staff with expert knowledge in the domain of pediatric cardiology. With this data we train a UNet using nnU-Net (Isensee, et. al). We then predict semantic labels with the trained model and use various techniques to judge the quality of each prediction. With that we are able to label each predicted segmentation with high or low quality. Predictions judged as low quality ones, are then presented to the domain experts and are manually corrected by them. Then, we can add those high quality labels to the training data set and start a new iteration by training the model. When the quality of predictions of an entire data set to be analyzed is high enough, we go on to synchronize the data set by assembling volumes of specific cardiac-respiration combinations based on the semantic segmentations. Finally, we are able to compute the stroke volume at different respiratory phases and compare them.
The workflow explained above is deployed as a Plugin for the Software "3D Slicer"
