RFI mitigation: cyclostationary criterion
Radio astronomical observations are increasingly corrupted by radio frequency interferences. Thus, real- time ltering algorithms are becoming essential. One approach is to use a speci c time property of the Telecoms signals : the cyclostationarity. This property can be exploited for detection purpose or ltering purpose. In par- ticular, new generations of radio telescopes will be based on antenna arrays providing the possibility of applying spatial ltering techniques. In this paper, we compare the performance between classical approaches based on power statistics and cyclic approaches. This comparison is done through simulations on synthetic data and through simulations on real data acquired with the new generation low frequency array radio telescope, LOFAR
This thesis is a contribution to observation improvements for phased array radiotelescopes, in the presence of radio frequency interferers (RFIs). The originality ofthe study is the use of the cyclostationarity property, in order to improve the spatial separation between cosmic sources and telecommunication signals. This thesis is part of the European SKADS project, which aims to improve RFI mitigation techniques for future instruments in radio astronomy. We have proposed three spatial processing techniques: detection, estimation and subtraction and spatial filtering. The performance of the techniques presented have been evaluated through simulations on synthetic and/or real data, and compared to existing approaches.

Wireless water quality monitoring in the ism frequency band: a software and cognitive radio approach
International audienceA long-range transmission demonstrator for low data rate environmental sensor networks is under development. It uses the ISM free-access frequency band at 433 MHz. In addition to distance attenuation, a major issue is the presence of numerous radio frequency interferences in this band. With a view to optimizing the sensor life and cost, the system complexity has been shifted to the central station which will be based on array processing techniques. In this paper, we describe a spatial cyclostationary detector for triggering the acquisition of sensor data frames in this highly corruptive radio environment
