Hydrometallurgical processing of gold-containing ore and its washed products
This article presents the results of hydrometallurgical studies of gold-bearing ore. The experiments were carried out on 2 parallel weighed portions with the analysis of products by assay (cake) and atomic absorption (solution) analyzes of gold. To determine the technological properties, tests were carried out on the direct and sorption cyanidation of ore samples using different material sizes, the concentration of the complexing agent in the solution and the preliminary treatment of the pulp with lime. The study of the sorption activity of the ore, as well as the dynamics of gold dissolution was carried out
Hybrid Hashing Method for Similar Vehicle Image Search
The novel hybrid method of a hash image calculation that can be applied in a search for similar vehicle images is proposed in this paper. The main novelty of the method described herein is the combination of two hashing types: the visual and semantic hash of the image. The method is based on SIFT and DCT algorithms. We use frontal vehicle images to test the method accuracy. The experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm has the practical application of image search in the vehicle identification systems based on license plate recognition. We show that method is a novel in this area. The proposed method is also applicable for use in other problem domains
On the kinetic equation approach to pair production by time-dependent electric field
We investigate the quantum kinetic approach to pair production from vacuum by
time-dependent electric field. Equivalence between this approach and the more
familiar S-matrix approach is explicitly established for both scalar and
fermion cases. For the particular case of a constant electric field exact
solution for kinetic equations is provided and the accuracy of low-density
approximation is estimated.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figure
Effect of Absorbing Layer Thickness on Efficiency Solar Cells Based on Cu(In,Ga)(S,Se)2
On the basis of one-dimensional model of the solar cell (SC) the influence of photoactive layer thickness on the photocurrent (a key
parameter for the collection efficiency of photogenerated charge carriers) of a has been studied. It is shown that for a typical Cu(In,Ga)(S,Se)2 - based SC the optimal value of the photoactive layer thickness is about 1.5 mkm. Reducing the thickness of the photoactive layer leads to a sharp decrease in the photocurrent and increase the series resistance
A View of Point Sources in Hickson Compact Groups: High AGN fraction but a dearth of strong AGNs
We present X-ray point source catalogs for 9 Hickson Compact Groups
(HCGs, 37 galaxies) at distances Mpc. We perform detailed X-ray point
source detection and photometry, and interpret the point source population by
means of simulated hardness ratios. We thus estimate X-ray luminosities ()
for all sources, most of which are too weak for reliable spectral fitting. For
all sources, we provide catalogs with counts, count rates, power-law indices
(), hardness ratios, and , in the full ( keV), soft
( keV) and hard ( keV) bands. We use optical emission-line
ratios from the literature to re-classify 24 galaxies as star-forming,
accreting onto a supermassive black hole (AGNs), transition objects, or
low-ionization nuclear emission regions (LINERs). Two-thirds of our galaxies
have nuclear X-ray sources with /UVOT counterparts. Two nuclei have
~ erg s, are strong
multi-wavelength AGNs and follow the known correlation for strong AGNs. Otherwise, most nuclei are X-ray faint,
consistent with either a low-luminosity AGN or a nuclear X-ray binary
population, and fall in the "non-AGN locus" in space, which also hosts other, normal, galaxies. Our results suggest
that HCG X-ray nuclei in high specific star formation rate spiral galaxies are
likely dominated by star formation, while those with low specific star
formation rates in earlier types likely harbor a weak AGN. The AGN fraction in
HCG galaxies with and erg
s is , somewhat higher than the fraction
in galaxy clusters.Comment: 77 pages (emulateapj), 28 tables, 11 figures. Accepted by ApJS on

Air-guided photonic-crystal-fiber pulse-compression delivery of multimegawatt femtosecond laser output for nonlinear-optical imaging and neurosurgery
Cataloged from PDF version of article.Large-core hollow photonic- crystal fibers (PCFs) are shown to enable a fiber-format air-guided delivery of ultrashort infrared laser pulses for neurosurgery and nonlinear-optical imaging. With an appropriate dispersion precompensation, an anomalously dispersive 15-mu m-core hollow PCF compresses 510-fs, 1070-nm light pulses to a pulse width of about 110 fs, providing a peak power in excess of 5 MW. The compressed PCF output is employed to induce a local photodisruption of corpus callosum tissues in mouse brain and is used to generate the third harmonic in brain tissues, which is captured by the PCF and delivered to a detector through the PCF cladding. Golden spiral photonic crystal fiber: polarization and dispersion properties
A golden spiral photonic crystal fiber (GS-PCF) design is presented in which air holes are arranged in a spiral pattern governed by the golden ratio, where the design has been inspired by the optimal arrangement of seeds found in nature. The birefringence and polarization properties of this fiber are analyzed using a vectorial finite-element method. The fiber that is investigated shows a large modal birefringence peak value of 0.016 at an operating wavelength of 1.55 μm and exhibits highly tuneable dispersion with multiple zero dispersion wavelengths and also large normal dispersion. The GS-PCF design has identical circular air holes that potentially simplify fabrication. In light of its properties, the GS-PCF could have application as a highly birefringent fiber and in nonlinear optics, and moreover the 2D chiral nature of the pattern could yield exotic properties
Отримання та аналіз препаратів каротиноїдів деяких штамів ксилотрофних базидіоміцетів
The aim of the study was selection of optimal conditions for obtaining carotenoid drugs of mycelium origin from the basidiomycete strains Laetiporus sulphureus Ls-08, Fomes fomentarius Ff-1201 and Fistulina hepatica Fh-18 and the study of antibacterial and total antioxidant activity of these compounds. The strains were surface grown on a glucose-peptone medium modified for each producer. The homogenized pigments of the mycelium strains were extracted with ethanol and the solvent was separated under vacuum at 60 ºC. The absorption spectra of the carotenoid drugs were recorded for alcoholic solutions at 350–500 nm. The antibacterial activity of the carotenoids was determined by the agar diffusion method, and the total antioxidant activity was determined by the DPPH-method. It was found that the optimum temperature for carotenoid extraction is 60 °C. The absorption spectra of carotenoid drugs showed three peaks in 420, 450 and 470 nm. These results respond to the β-carotene absorption spectra. The highest antioxidant activity was noted for carotenoid drugs from F. hepatica Fh-18 and L. sulphureus Ls-08 strains obtained at an extraction temperature of 40 and 60 °C respectively. The antibacterial activity of carotenoid drugs against the test cultures was not species dependent. Carotenoid drugs with a 20% concentrate obtained from the L. sulphureus Ls-08 strain had the highest antibacterial activity against the test cultures Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Carotenoids from the mycelium of F. hepatica Fh-18 had the highest antibacterial activity against the test culture Candida albicans. Extraction temperature of 60 °C is optimal for mycelial yield of carotenoids from the studied strains. All preparations of carotenoids exhibited antibacterial activity against the test microorganism cultures. The carotenoid drugs obtained at 40 and 60 °C from the strains F. hepatica Fh-18 and L. sulphureus Ls-08 respectively showed the highest antioxidant activity.
