    Volunteer Management System

    The Volunteer Management System (VMS) aims to partially automate the work scheduling process and the tracking of working hours for volunteers under the employ of a local science center. The currently implemented system involves the volunteers signing up on a weekly list to confirm availability for duty which will then be used by the human resources department’s staff to construct a weekly duty roster .This method is tedious and time consuming, for both volunteers and staff. By creating and developing an intuitive system, VMS, the process will be streamlined, joining the availability list sign up and the weekly roster generator into one software application. This will save considerable amount of man hours, as it takes the decision making process of assigning volunteers to a timeslot in the weekly roster, based on their criterion, and relegates it to the application. The target users of this application will be the HR subdivision in charge of managing the volunteers, namely the Volunteers Management Unit (VMU) and the volunteers themselves. The project will adopt the Iterative and incremental development methodology, which promotes constant reevaluation, and will be built on the java programming language and developed on the Netbeans IDE, for the GUI and algorithm implementation. The database section to store the volunteers’ data will be handled with Microsoft Access. In conclusion, this software application will save a lot of time and effort on the part of the staff and increase the efficiency with which the volunteers are managed

    The measuring af previous of firm's performances is one of the best ways for all parties that are interesting to the firm to predict its performance. The case of this study is Board Effectiveness and ownership structure, in point of view corporate governance, of Islamic Banks in Indonesia. This research use book value approach to measure firm's performance that is influenced by board composition, where board composition of the firms consist of number of board of commissioners, independent commissioners, ond differences between majority and non majority shareholders. Firm's performance is represented by Return on Asset (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), BOPO, and Net Interest Margin (NIM). This research is designed as descriptive analysis for sample 2004 - 2007. The analysis output validity tested by using coefficient of correlation and ANOVA model. The result of the analysis: 1) The number of board commissioners have significant influence to the Islamic BAnk's performance toward ROA, ROE and BOPO, except in NIM indicators 2) Proportion of Independent Commissioners have significant influence towards ROA, ROE, BOPO, except NIM indicators, 3) There is significant differences between majority shareholders toward non-majority shareholders towards ROA, ROE, except in BOPO and NIM indicators.     Thermal Spray Coating for Corrosion Under Insulation Prevention

    orrosion under Insulation (CUI) is one of the predominant mechanical integrity issues affecting the industry. CUI refers to external corrosion, but it is difficult to detect because of the insulation cover that masks the corrosion problem. One of the options to prevent corrosion under insulation is by protective coating systems. Thermal spray coating (TSC) is an advanced coating system and shows promising performance in harsh environment and could be used for preventing CUI. However, the application of TSC is not attractive due to high initial cost. The project focused on evaluation of TSC based on corrosion performance using linear polarization method, salt spray test and evaluation of coating mechanical performance using adhesion test, bend test and microstructure characterization of the coating. For the salt spray test, there was no sign of corrosion products especially at the center (fully coated region). TSC protected the steel satisfactorily, whether by barrier effect and by cathodic protection. Under Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) TSC did not show any corrosion defects after 336 hours of continuous exposure to salt fog test which means the coating is a perfect barrier from corrosive environment. The LPR test results showed that the TSC yields low corrosion rate of 0.05mm/year compared to the bare steel especially at high temperature 80 oC where usually normal coating fails. In conclusion, TSC was evaluated technically acceptable for long term protection of corrosion under insulation. Further research should be done on corrosion performance and life cycle cost by comparing the TSC with conventional coating

    Impelemtasi Distribution Requrement Planning Dan Saving Matrixs Untuk Meminalisasi Biaya Distribusi

    PT. XYZ is a limited liability company engaged in the pharmaceutical sector. PT. XYZ is the main distributor for the fast-growing pharmaceutical company ABC company. In the development of its products, this company still often experiences disruptions in distribution activities because of the intuitive route and distribution planning currently carried out using trial and error methods so that the company's distribution operational costs are correct with the company's distribution costs of Rp. 67,405,801 and the company mileage method of 1956 km. This study aims to minimize the time and costs incurred by the company in distributing its products. In this study, the comparison of the cost of storing and inventory using the DRP method and the company method leaves the saving method. This study indicates that using the DRP method can provide a saving and delivery cost of 73% with an amount of Rp. 48,873,021 and for the savings results using the Saving Matrix method shows that this method can optimize the distance by 0.13% with a total distance of 24 km from the previous company's distance and route.PT. XYZ merupakan perusahaan perseroan terbatas yang bergerak dibidang farmasi. PT. XYZ adalah distributor utama untuk perusahaan farmasi yang berkembang dengan pesat yaitu perusahaan ABC. Dalam mendistribusikan produknya, perusahaan ini masih sering mengalami keterlambatan dalam aktivitas distribusinya karena rute yang di tempuh hanya bersifat intuisi dan perencanaan distribusi yang dilakukan pada saat ini hanya menggunakan metode trial dan eror sehingga biaya operasional pendistribusian perusahaan  menjadi kurang tepat dengan biaya distribusi perusahaan sebesar Rp.67.405.801 dan jarak tempuh metode perusahaan sebesar 1956 km. Tujuan di lakukan penelitian ini adalah untuk meminimalisasi waktu dan ongkos yang dikeluarkan oleh perusahaan dalam pendistribusian produknya. Dalam penelitian ini dibahas perbandingan biaya simpan dan persediaan mengunakan metode DRP dan metode perusahaan, kemudian menentukan penghematan jarak menggunakan metode saving matrix. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa dengan menggunakan metode DRP dapat menghemat biaya simpan dan biaya pengiriminan sebesar 73% dengan jumlah Rp. 48.873.021 dan untuk hasil penghematan jarak menggunakan metode Saving Matrixs menunjukan bahwa metode tersebut dapat mengoptimalkan jarak sebesar 0,13% dengan jumlah jarak 24 km dari jarak dan rute perusahaan sebelumnya.

    PENGARUH MODEL PEMBELAJARAN KOOPERATIF TIPE STUDENT TEAM ACHIEVMENT DIVISION (STAD) DAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN LANGSUNG TERHADAP PENGUASAAN KETERAMPILAN TEKNIK DASAR BOLABASKET

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali informasi yang terkait yang terkait dengan pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dan konvensional terhadap penguasaan keterampilan dasar bolabasket pada siswa kelas X SMA PGRI 1 Bandung. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode ekperimen dengan menggunakan desain Randomize Pretest-Posttest Control Goup Design. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah siswa SMA PGRI 1 Bandung kelas X yang berjumlah 10 kelas di SMA PGRI 1 Bandung. Sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu sebanyak 75 siswa kelas X. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan cluster random sampling. Hasil penghitungan (1). Uji paired sampel t tes. didapat nilai p-value 0.000 < 0.05. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD terhadap penguasaan keterampilan teknik dasar bolabasket siswa SMA kelas X. (2). Uji paired sampel t tes. didapat nilai p-value 0.000 < 0.05. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran konvensional terhadap penguasaan keterampilan teknik dasar bolabasket siswa SMA kelas X. (3). Uji independent t tes didapat nilai t-hitung 8.271 dengan probabitas Sig. (2-tailed) adalah 0.000. karena probabilitas Sig. (2-tailed) < 0,05 maka H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima. Kesimpulan Model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD lebih berpengaruh dibandingkan model pembelajaran konvensional terhadap penguasaan keterampilan teknik dasar bolabasket siswa SMA kelas X. This study aims to explore information through various aspects related to the influence of STAD and conventional cooperative learning models on mastery of basic basketball skills in class X SMA PGRI 1 Bandung. The method used is an experimental method using the Randomize Pretest-Posttest Control Goup Design. The population in this study were students of class X PGRI 1 Bandung, totaling 10 classes at SMA PGRI 1 Bandung. The samples in this study were 75 class X students. The sampling technique used cluster random sampling. Calculation results (1). Paired test sample t test. a p-value of 0.000 <0.05 was obtained. Then it can be concluded that there is an influence of the STAD type cooperative learning model on the mastery of basic technical skills in basketball for high school students in grade X. (2). Paired test sample t test. a p-value of 0.000 <0.05 was obtained. Then it can be concluded that there is an influence of conventional learning models on the mastery of basic technical skills in basketball for high school students in grade X. (3) Independent test t test obtained t-test value of 8.271 with the probability of Sig. (2-tailed) is 0,000. because of the probability of Sig. (2-tailed) <0.05 then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Conclusion The STAD type cooperative learning model is more influential than the conventional learning model on the mastery of basic technical skills in X-grade high school basketball students

    PENERAPAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN INKUIRI UNTUK MENINGKATKAN HASIL BELAJAR SISWA PADA PELAJARAN IPA TOPIK MENDESKRIPSIKAN GAYA, GERAK, DAN ENERGI

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh hasil kegiatan dan pengamatan langsung di kelas V SDN Cimahi Mandiri 2 yang menunjukan bahwa pelajaran IPA umumnya disajikan secara verbal melalui kegiatan ceramah, pembelajaran lebih berpusat kepada guru, akibatnya pemahaman konsep siswa menjadi rendah, siswa menjadi cepat bosan, malas, dan jenuh dalam mempelajarinya.Berdasarkan permasalahan di atas, maka penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran proses model pembelajaran inkuiri. Dengan model pembelajaran inkuiri ini diharapkan siswa mampu memahami konsep pembelajaran IPA, dimana siswa tidak hanya menghafal informasi melainkan memahami prinsip yang melandasi pengetahuan, tumbuh sikap keinginan bertanya, dan mengkomunikasikan pengetahuan yang diperoleh dalam bentuk tulisan. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas v SDN Cimahi Mandiri 2 Kecamatan Cimahi Tengah Kota Cimahi dengan subjek sample sebanyak 24 siswa. Metode penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan dalam 3 siklus tindakan. Tiap siklus terdiri dari 4 kegiatan yaitu : perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi, analisis dan refleksi. Instrument yang digunakan adalah berupa tes, lembar observasi dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian dengan model pembelajaran inkuiri ternyata selain meningkatkan hasil belajar, menunjukan perkembangan sikap siswa yaitu keterbukaan, objektivitas, disiplin, kerjasama dan bertanggung jawab yang merupakan ciri-ciri sikap ilmiah yang memang harus ditumbuhkan pada diri siswa ketika pembelajaran IPA, sehingga harapan kita sebagai pendidik memiliki siswa yang dapat berfikir secara logis, kritis, dan kreatif akan terwujud. Ini terlihat dari peningkatan hasil belajar siswa dari setiap siklusnya yaitu Siklus I nilai rata-rata 68. Pada Siklus II mengalami peningkatan nilai rata-ratanya menjcapai 76. Begitupula dengan Siklus III nilai rata-ratanya mencapai 82. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa pemahaman siswa cukup merata dengan tingkat pencapaian yang tergolong cukup berhasil
