Teacher Educators’ Perceptions of Terrorism and the Role of Education: A Qualitative Inquiry

This qualitative study aimed at revealing terrorism perceptions held by teacher educators working in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, and their opinions regarding the role of education that may play in ending terrorism. A total of 30 teacher educators took part in the study. The data were collected using a questionnaire involving open-ended questions in addition to demographics. The data were analyzed using the content analysis technique. The findings were discussed in terms of relevant literature and the social and political context of Turkey, which yielded generalizable implications to other countries with a similar social construct

Yurtseverlik tutum ölçeğinin geçerlilik ve güvenilirlik çalışması

The purpose of this study was to investigate the reliability and validity of Turkish version of the Patriotism Attitude Scale (PAS) developed by Schatz, Staub and Lavine (1999). The study of the PAS was conducted on 490 undergraduate students at Gaziosmanpaşa University. For the exploratory factor analysis of the validity of the scale, factor loadings of the blind patriotism and the constructive patriotism factors were found between .331-.645, and .570-.792 respectively. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis for the goodness of fit statistics were computed as RMSEA= ,078; RMR=,080; SRMR=,071; GFI=,90; AGFI=,87; CFI=,81. The Cronbach’s Alpha for the internal consistency coefficient was found .76 for the blind patriotism, .77 for the constructive patriotism, and .75 for the PAS. In line of the findings obtained in this study, the PAS can be considered as a valid and reliable instrument for the blind and constructive patriotism attitudes.Bu çalışmanın amacı Schatz, Staub ve Lavine (1999) tarafından geliştirilen Yurtseverlik Tutum Ölçeği’nin (YTÖ) Türkçe uyarlamasını yaparak geçerlilik ve güvenirliğini incelemektir. İki alt boyuttan oluşan YTÖ’nin uygulaması Gaziosmanpaşa Üniversitesi’nde öğrenim gören 490 öğrenci üzerinde uygulanmıştır. Ölçeğin geçerliliği için uygulanan açıklayıcı faktör analizinde faktör yüklerinin kör yurtseverlik boyutunda .331-.645, yapıcı yurtseverlik boyutunda ise .570-.792 arasında değiştiği görülmüştür. Yapılan doğrulayıcı faktör analizi sonucunda elde edilen uyum iyiliği değerleri RMSEA= ,078; RMR=,080; SRMR=,071; GFI=,90; AGFI=,87; CFI=,81 olarak hesaplanmıştır. İç tutarlılık analizi için hesaplanan Cronbach Alpha katsayısı kör yurtseverlik boyutu için bu değer .76; yapıcı yurtseverlik boyutu için .77; ölçeğin tamamı için ise .75 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler YTÖ’nin kör ve yapıcı yurtseverlik tutumlarını ölçmede geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olduğunu ortaya koymuştur.&nbsp

Synthesis, characterization and luminescence properties of long afterglow Phosphor Ba4Al14O25:Eu,Dy

Long persistent afterglow phosphor, Ba4Al14O25:Eu2+,Dy3+ was prepared at high temperature by a solid state reaction in a weak reductive atmosphere. The crystal structure of Ba4Al14O25:Eu2+,Dy3+ has been determined as an orthorhombic Pmmm space group with a=18.200(6) Å, b=16.923(6) Å, c=5.131(21) Å, V=1580.3(9) Å3 and Z=8. The reflectance measurement was obtained by using the Diffuse Reflectance Spectrophotometer and the band gap energy of the undoped host phase of Ba4Al14O25 was calculated by using Kubelka-Munk treatment on the diffuse reflectance spectra, and found to be 4.72 eV. The excitation and emission peaks are broad bands and the main emission peak at 520 nm with shoulder at 496 nm belongs to the intrinsic defect of the host and 4f65d1→4f7 transition of Eu2+, respectively. The afterglow decay curve implied that this phosphor contains fast and slow-decay processes. The thermoluminescence glow curve showed one dominant glow peak observed at 50 oC and two weak glow peaks at around 140 oC and 220 oC which are related to the defects at different trap depths

Bir köpekte gerçek hermafrodismus: Olgu sunumu

True hermaphroditism in a dog is described in this case report. An eight month old cross-breed dog with enlarged structure protruding from the vulva was brought for an ovariohysterectomie operation. Physical examinations exposed the presence of an os clitoris and urethral orifice at the base of the os clitoris. Exploratory laparotomy was performed as a diagnostic and therapeutic procedure. Both gonadal tissues and the genital tract were removed during surgery and brought to the laboratory for pathological examinations. Microscopic examinations showed that the right gonad had both seminiferous tubules like testis and primer follicles like ovarium. The concentrations of serum progesterone, testosterone and 17β-estradiol were 0,188 ng/ml, 1,008 ng/ml and 23,61 pg/ml respectively. We concluded that this is a true hermaphrodismus case due to the simultaneous presence of two sex gonads.Bu çalışmada, gerçek hermafrodit bir köpek anlatılmıştır. Vulvasından dışarıya doğru çıkan büyük bir kitle olan 8 aylık melez bir köpek kısırlaştırma operasyonu için araştırma merkezimize getirildi. Fiziksel muayenelerde os klitorisin varlığı ve bunun bazalinde uretral deliğin olduğu saptandı. Teşhis ve tedavi amacıyla hayvana ovariohysterectomie operasyonu uygulandı. Her iki gonadal doku ve uterus patolojik incelemeler için laboratuvara gönderildi. Mikroskobik incelemeler, sağ gonadın hem testis gibi seminifer tubuller hem de ovaryum gibi primer foliküller içerdiğini gösterdi. Serum progesteron, 17β-östradiol ve testosteron düzeyleri sırasıyla 0,188 ng/ml, 23,61 pg/ml, 1,008 ng/ml olarak ölçüldü. Köpekte her iki gonadal dokunun aynı anda bulunması nedeniyle olgunun bir gerçek hermafrodismus olgusu olduğu kanısına varıldı

Preservice History Teachers’ Perceptions of Subject Matter Competency

Teachers should be able to understand conceptual constructs, viewpoints, and principles related to their field and organize teaching process accordingly. This is valid also for history teachers. They are expected to comprehend the basic conceptions related to subject areas and reflect them on classroom practices. The association between subject matter and pedagogy is significant for the quality of teaching. The drawbacks in content knowledge cause deficiencies in learning and a tendency to handle subjects in a similar manner. The aim of this study was to investigate preservice history teachers’ perceptions of content knowledge in terms of different variables. Within this scope, Scale of Perceived Competence in History as a Subject Matter was used as the data collection tool. The participants were composed of 305 preservice history teachers receiving pedagogical formation education at 3 different universities in Turkey during 2016-2017 academic year. The Mediator Role of Employee Voice in the Effect of Agile Leadership on Teachers’ Affective Occupational Commitment

The research aims to reveal the effect of teachers’ agile leadership perceptions on their affective occupational commitment and how employee voice plays a mediating role in this effect. The study group of the research consists of 354 teachers working in Istanbul in 2021. The research is carried out according to the relational survey model. Correlation analysis is carried out and tested using the suggested mediation model based on the relationship between the variables to determine the relationship between variables. According to the research findings, the agile leadership characteristics of school principals positively affect their affective occupational commitment. Additionally, mediation analysis showed that employee voice is a partial mediator between agile leadership characteristics and affective occupational commitment. This research contributes to the theory by revealing the important effects of the agile leader in the school. In the light of the findings, the implications of the agile leader, employee voice, and occupational commitment of teachers were discussed, and suggestions were made for future research

Spor Köşe Yazılarında 4 Büyük Kulübün Olumlu-Olumsuz Kavramlarla Birlikte Anılma Durumları ve Kulüp İmajı

Kulüpler hakkındaki köşe yazılarının olumlu veya olumsuz olması, kulüplerin imajı ve geleceği açısından oldukça önemlidir. Bu durumun araştırılması amacıyla bu çalışmada, 4 büyük kulübün spor köşe yazılarında olumlu ve olumsuz kavramlarla birlikte anılma durumları ve bunların kulüp imajına etkileri ortaya konulmuştur. Tirajı en yüksek 5 gazeteden 52 spor köşe yazarına ait 2017-2021 yılları arasındaki yazılardan içeriğinde Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray, Beşiktaş ve Trabzonspor geçen 9862 köşe yazısıyla çalışma yürütülmüştür. İşlemlerin tamamında Doğal Dil İşleme teknikleri ve Visual Studio ortamında C# dilinde geliştirilen yazılımdan faydalanılmıştır. 42 alt kavrama sahip 19 olumlu üst kavram ile 62 alt kavrama sahip 23 olumsuz üst kavramın köşe yazılarında kulüplerle birlikte anılma durumları, geliştirilen yazılımla belirlenmiştir. Araştırma bulgularında 4 kulüple farklı sıralamalarda olsa da en çok vurgulanan 3 olumlu kavramın “saygı, dost, adalet”; en az vurgulananlarınsa bütün kulüplerde aynı sıralamada “merhamet, şefkat, kibar” olduğu görülmüştür. Öte yandan en çok/en az vurgulanan 3 olumsuz kavramdaysa kulüpten kulübe farklılık belirlenmiştir. Fenerbahçe’yle en çok “kavga, sinir, düşman”, en az “vahşi, argo, hile”; Galatasaray’la en çok “hakaret, kavga, düşman”, en az “argo, vahşi, kışkırt”; Beşiktaş ve Trabzonspor’la en çok “haksız, kavga, sinir”; Beşiktaş’la en az “argo, vahşi, holigan”; Trabzonspor’la en az “argo, kışkırt, vahşi” olumsuz kavramları birlikte anılmıştır. Bununla birlikte, köşe yazılarında olumlu kavramlara olumsuz kavramlardan daha fazla yer verildiği tespit edilmiştir. Olumlu kavramlarla daha sık anılan kulüplerin kurumsal imajının ve saygınlığının artabileceği; olumsuz kavramlarla daha çok anılan kulüplerinse zihinlerde olumsuz yer ederek kulüp imajına uzun yıllar zarar verebileceği değerlendirilmiştir

Gömülü kaninlerin transmigrasyon insidansının belirlenmesi

Amaç: Bu çalışmanı amacı gömülü kanin dişler arsında transmigrant kanin insidansının belirlenmesi ve transmigrant kanin dişlerinin değerlendirilmesidir. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Bu çalışmada Ankara Üniversitesi Ağız, Diş ve Çene Cerrahisi Anabilim Dalında 2012 yılında tarafımızdan gömülü kanin diş sebebiyle muayene ve tedavi edilmiş 121 hastaya ait (36 erkek, 85 kadın) klinik ve panoramik radyografi görüntüleri retrospektif olarak analiz edilmiş ve transmigrant kanin içeren vakalar yaş, cinsiyet, pozisyon, lokalizasyon,tedavi protokolleri ve sınıflama açısından istatistiksel olarak değerlendirilmiş ve görülme sıklığı belirlenmiştir. Bulgular: 4 hasta veri eksikliği nedeniyle çalışma dışı bırakılmıştır. 117 hastada 146 kanin dişinin içerisinde 3 ü üst çene (1 erkek, 2 kadın) 10’u alt çene(2 erkek, 8 kadın) de olmak üzere 13 (3 erkek,10 kadın) tek taraflı transmigrant kanin bulunmuştur. Ortalama yaş 32.38 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Alt çenede görülenlerde Sınıf 1(%50) en sık rastlanılan pozisyon olmuştur. 8 dişin tedavisi çekim ile yapılırken 5 dişin tedavisinde takipyapılması uygun görülmüştür.. Gömülü kaninler arasında transmigrasyon görülme insidansı %8.90 olup bu oran üst çenede %2.52 olarak bulunmuşken alt çenede %37.03 olarak belirlenmiştir.Sonuçlar: Transmigrasyon görülme insidansı alt çenede üst çeneye oranla istatistiksel olarak anlamlı derecede yüksektir (p<0.05). Diş hekimlerinin yalnızca klinik muayene ile tespit edilemeyecek transmigrasyon ile karşılaşabileceklerinin farkında olmaları ve radyografik muayenelerini ihmal etmemeleri gerekmektedir.Anahtar Kelimeler: transmigrasyon; gömülü kanin; alt çene; üst çen

ACTIVE FOLLOW-UP DECISION IN PROSTATE CANCER; HOW SAFE IS THE BIOPSY GLEASON SCORE?

Amaç: Prostat spesifik antijenin tanımlanmasından sonra insidental prostat kanseri oranı yükselmiş ve hastalar gereksiz tedavilere maruz kalabilmişlerdir. İnsidental prostat kanseri olan hastalarda herhangi bir tedavi uygulanmadan yakın izlem kılavuzlara girmiş ve hastalara uygulanmaya başlamıştır. Ancak transrektal ultrasonografi eşliğinde biyopsi patolojilerindeki veriler ile radikal prostatektomi spesimen patolojilerindeki verilerin uyumsuzluğu, küratif tedavi ihtiyacı olabilecek hastaları riske atmaktadır. Bu çalışmada; radikal prostatektomi spesimenlerindeki Gleason skorları ile TRUS-bx Gleason skorlarının karşılaştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Materyal – Metot: Mart 2011 ile Haziran 2016 tarihleri arasında, kliniğimizde radikal prostatektomi cerrahisi geçirmiş hastaların verileri retrospektif olarak değerlendirildi. Hastaların transrektal ultrasonografi eşliğinde biyopsi öncesi PSA değerleri, biyopsi kor sayıları, kanser pozitif biyopsi kor sayıları, biyopsideki kanser yüzdeleri ve Gleason skorları tespit edilerek, radikal prostatektomi sonrası Gleason skorları, doku kanser oranları, cerrahi sınırlar ve patolojik evre ile karşılaştırıldı. Bulgular: Toplam 44 hastanın verileri değerlendirildi. Transrektal ultrasonografi eşliğinde biyopsi patolojisinde Gleason skoru 7 olan hastaların 1’inde (%16,6) prostat spesimen Gleason skoru >7 olarak tespit edildi Sonuç: Transrektal ultrasonografi eşliğinde biyopsi patolojilerinde bildirilen Gleason skorları ile radikal prostatektomi Gleason skorları arasında fark olabilmekte, bu fark özellikle biyopsi Gleason skoru 7 at 1 (16,6%) patient in both transrectal ultrasonography guided biopsy and radical prostatectomy Conclusion: There are differences between transrectal ultrasonography guided biopsy Gleason scores and the radical prostatectomy Gleason scores. This differences especially are obvious in patients with Gleason score <7. The reliability of gleason scores reported by the pathologists might be questionable so, in order to decide active surveillance for patients, other variables (core-tumor ratio, tumor core number, PSA) must also be considered
