Extending UML templates towards computability
UML templates allow the specification of generic model elements that can be reproduced in domain models
by means of the Bind relationship. Binding to a template encompasses the substitution of that template’s
parameters by compatible domain elements. The requirement of compatibility, however, is checked over by
UML in a very permissive way. As a consequence, binding to a template can result in badly-formed models
and non-computable expressions. Such option in the design of UML was certainly intentional and meant to
allow for richer semantics for the Bind relationship, as the specialization of the concept is advised at several
points of the standard. This paper proposes one such specialization. One that guarantees well-formedness
and computability for elements bound to a template. This is achieved by introducing the concept of
Functional Conformance, which is imposed between every template’s parameter and its application domain
substitute. Functional conformance is defined in terms of well-formedness rules, expressed as OCL

Fever and Generalised Lymphadenopathy in an HIV-Positive Patient: a Diagnostic Challenge
Fever and generalised lymphadenopathy is a common presentation of a variety of diseases and a thorough investigation is often necessary for appropriate diagnosis.We present a 53-year-old male patient admitted with fever, weight loss of 15 kg in 3 months and abdominal discomfort. Examination was only remarkable for axillary and inguinal lymphadenopathy. Blood tests showed normocytic normochromic anaemia, cholestasis and a previously unknown HIV-1 infection with lymphocyte CD4 +count of 239 cells/mm(3) and viral load 3.172.370 copies/mL. A body CT scan showed multiple axillary, mediastinal, lumbar, aortic, iliac and pelvic lymphadenopathy as well as hepatosplenomegaly. An excisional biopsy of the left axillary lymphadenopathy was performed and histology ultimately revealed multicentric Castleman's disease associated with Human Herpes Virus-8. After initiation of antiretroviral therapy, rituximab was given and progressive clinical improvement occurred.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Ultra light vertical array remote data acquisition system
SiPLAB Report 03/05, FCT, University of Algarve,2005.In the framework of the ATOMS project, a project devoted to study uppwelling processes off the S. Vicente Cape, Portugal, by oceanographic and acoustic means, it was requested to adapt an existent underwater acoustic acquisition system named Ultra Light Vertical Array (ULVA) to fulfil the project requirements. The ULVA system was a vertical instrumented with up to 16 hydrophones and various non-acoustic sensors (thermistors, tiltmeters and pressure gauges). The ULVA system was used during the INTIFANTE project sea trial, where the acquired data were transmitted through a radio link to a remote PC station located in a vessel for storage, monitoring and online processing. In order to overcome data loses due to radio link fails, identified during the INTIFANTE sea trial, and improve the mobility of the vessel where the PC station is located, a must for the ATOMS project, it was decided to transform the ULVA system into an autonomous acquisition system with local storage facilities, lower power consumption, capability of on line remote quality control of the acquired data and positioning information. The first version of this new system, named Ultra Light Vertical Array/Remote Data Acquisition System (ULVA/RDAS), was described in the report. During the sea trial MREA'04 it was found that an auxiliary UHF radio link used to send some commands to the ULVA, like switch on/off the power or switch on/off the array electronics, remains a source of problems in the ULVA/RDAS. Thus, it was decided to remove the UHF link from the system, emulating its facilities by new developed hardware. In this new version (second) of the ULVA/RDAS system, it was also introduced a new monitoring software, in order to improve its robustness and share a common user interface with other SiPLAB acquisition systems. Business processes modelling and diagnosis
The computerization of relevant information in organizations is increasingly becoming a necessary reality in companies that want to be present in a market that is characterized by innovation, adaptability and where bigger amounts of information are increasingly available and accessible to everyone, the use of Social Collaboration tools in organizations become increasingly crucial to keep a business running (Brocke et al. 2018). In (Alter 2013), work systems are described as systems “in which human participants and machines perform work (processes and activities) using information, technology and other resources to produce specific products/services for specific internal and external customers”. The computerization of processes is not, however, so complete because all the formal and informal relationships among employees, which underlie each organization and have a high impact on the correct definition of processes, are not correctly considered.

How to break access control in a controlled manner
The Electronic Medical Record (EMR) integrates heterogeneous information within a Healthcare Institution stressing the need for security and access control. The Biostatistics and Medical Informatics Department from Porto Faculty of Medicine has recently implemented a Virtual EMR (VEMR) in order to integrate patient information and clinical reports within a university hospital. With more than 500 medical doctors using the system on a daily basis, an access control policy and model were implemented. However, the healthcare environment has unanticipated situations (i.e. emergency situations) where access to information is essential. Most traditional policies do not allow for overriding. A policy that allows for Break-The-Glass (BTG) was implemented in order to override access control whilst providing for non-repudiation mechanisms for its usage. The policy was easily integrated within the model confirming its modularity and the fact that user intervention in defining security procedures is crucial to its successful implementation and use

O elevado consumo de energia nos edifícios tem vindo a ser responsável pela publicação de legislação europeia que visa limitar esse consumo, por via da melhoria dos processos construtivos e da adopção de estratégias de redução do consumo em paralelo com a definição de esquemas de certificação energética que permitam ao mercado escolher e por essa via promover a disseminação das melhores práticas. Em Portugal é o RCCTE, actualmente em processo de revisão, que para além dos requisitos mínimos construtivos obriga a colocação de colectores solares térmicos, mas também valoriza a introdução de outras renováveis nos edifícios. Neste texto iremos percorrer de forma sucinta, as várias tecnologias e aspectos de desenho que já se apresentam no terreno ou se perfilam no horizonte próximo e que em conjunto permitem aproximar de zero, o balanço energético dos edifícios
Long-range dependencies of euronext capital markets: A dynamic detrended analysis
This paper aims to test efficiency, in its weak form, in the capital
markets of the Netherlands (AEX), Belgium (BEL 20), France (CAC 40),
Ireland (ISEQ 20), Norway (OSEBX), Portugal (PSI 20), in the period from
April 4, 2019 to April 1, 2021. The sample was partitioned into two subperiods,
the first and second wave of the global pandemic: April 4, 2019
to April 30, 2020; May 4, 2020 to April 1, 2021. To carry out this analysis,
different approaches were undertaken to analyze whether: (i) Euronext’s
stock markets have more significant long memories in the first or
second wave of the global pandemic? The results show the presence of
sharp long memories during the first wave of the global pandemic, particularly
in the stock indices OSEBX (0.67), PSI 20 (0.67), AEX (0.66), BEL 20
(0.64), CAC 40 (0.62), ISEQ 20 (0.61), which implies that the yields are autocorrelated
in time and, there is a reversal of the average, in all indexes.
Regarding the second wave of the global pandemic, we found that most
Euronext stock markets don’t reject the random walk hypothesis, with
the exception of the Norwegian (0.56) and Portugal (0.55) stock markets.
These findings show that the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic was accentuated
during the first wave, but from May 2020 the markets adjusted
and showed balance. The authors believe that the results achieved
will be a benefit to international investors seeking efficient diversification

Reverse osmosis powered by concentrating solar power (CSP): a case study for Trapani, Sicily
The objective of this paper is to analyse the physical performance of two technologies in a water and electricity co-generation scheme: Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plant coupled to a Reverse
Osmosis (RO) unit for a location in the city of Trapani, in southern Italy. The modelled system is compared with the results of another study [2], in which a Multi-Effect Desalination (MED) is powered by a CSP plant for the same location in Italy, using as reference an existing stand-alone gas powered MED plant located at Trapani [3] (which has operated until very recently). The overall aim is to assess and compare these two cogeneration schemes, using as reference the existing MED plant. This work was conducted using as the main simulation tool: the System Advisor Model (SAM) developed by the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL); a recent upgrade to SAM made available to this work through Laboratório Nacional de Energia e Geologia I.P. (LNEG); and the Reverse Osmosis System Analysis (ROSA) developed by the Dow
Chemical Company. A technical visit to a real commercial RO plant in the south of Portugal (Alvor) was conducted, and the data gathered was used in the validation of the ROSA model. The results for the Trapani case study show that the CSP-RO arrangement has the capability to produce ~50% of the total production of the full scale plant at Trapani, if operated at nominal capacity, year round. Also, the CSP-RO system
provides ~20% more electricity and water than the CSP-MED system throughout the studied period of one year. The two co-generation schemes provide promising potential to fight the issues related to fresh water shortages and dependency on fossil fuelled desalination. Thus, they can aid in decreasing the effects associated with CO2 emissions and climate change
Neoplasia Blástica de Células Dendríticas Plasmocitóides
Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm is a rare and aggressive hematodermic neoplasia with frequent cutaneous involvement and leukemic dissemination. We report the case of a 76-year-old man with a 2
month history of violaceous nodules and a tumor with stony consistency, located on the head, and mandibular, cervical and supraclavicular lymphadenopathies. Multiple thoracic and abdominal adenopathies were identified on computerized tomography. Flow cytometry analysis of the skin, lymph node and bone marrow biopsies demonstrated the presence of plasmocytoid dendritic cell neoplastic precursor cells (CD4+, CD45+, CD56+ and CD123+ phenotype). After initial clinical and laboratorial complete remission with chemotherapy, the patient died due to relapse of the disease associated with the appearance of a cervical mass with medullary compromise
