We are in the age where business growth is based on how user-centric your services or goods is. Current research on wireless system is more focused on ensuring that user could achieve optimal throughput with minimal delay, disregarding what user actually wants from the services. Looking from con-nectivity point of view, especially in urban areas these days, there are multiple mobile and wireless access that user could choose to get connected to. As people are looking toward machine automa-tion, we understand that the same could be done for allowing users to choose services based on their own requirement. This paper looks into unconventional, non-disruptive approach to provide mobile services based on user requirements. The first stage of this study is to look for user association from three new perspectives. The second stage involved utilizing a reinforcement learning algorithm known as q-learning, to learn from feedbacks to identify optimal decision in reaching user-centric requirement goal. The outcome from the proposed deployment has shown significant improvement in user association with learning aware solution © BEIESP

Outage probability analysis of Co-Tier interference in heterogeneous network

    Get PDF
In Heterogeneous Network (HetNet), the femtocell (HeNB) has been deployed by the telecommunication industries to provide extensive coverage as well as capacity in an indoor. These HeNBs are Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) which is randomly used in co-channel with macrocell (MeNB) and causes the Co-Tier Interference (CTI) in OFDMA. The effect of CTI in OFDMA systems can lead the system throughput degradation and service disruption. Because of quick direct changing features in Rayleigh channel, it is compulsory to succeed the satisfactory performance. The signal-to-interference noise ratio (SINR) is arbitrary which drives the highest capacity to be an irregular variable. However, this paper derives the expressions of outage probabilities based on the hybrid Genetic Algorithm (GA) with biogeography based dynamic subcarrier allocation (HGBBDSA) algorithm is implemented in reducing the outage probability. The outage probability countenance is expressed for the moment-generating function of the total SINR at the receivers end. The simulation results demonstrate that the HGBBDSA can lessen the outage to 45 % than existing methods

Restaurant's Atmospheric Elements: What the Customer Wants

    Get PDF
AbstractThe purpose of the study is to examine youth customer behaviour due to the restaurant's atmospheric element environment. It also explores the environment of the restaurant and the use of atmospherics by the restaurateurs through the reactions of the customers. The dimensions of colour, design, lighting, and restaurant layout, among others, were measured. Qualitative data taken from 300 youth customers were analyzed, and interpretations of the relationships were made. It was found that atmospheric elements contributed significantly in each representation of customer behaviour

An academic perspective of assessment questions bank

    Get PDF
There are several electronic assessment systems being used in institutions of higher education (HE), especially in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institutions. Some of these institutions built their assessment system into their institution’s Virtual Learning Environments (VLE). Most of these assessment systems are for general purposes where assessment questions are in the form of simple multiple choice question (MCQ) or short-answer questions. In practice, these types of assessment questions do not match many of the current learning requirements and learning outcomes. The concept of an assessment question bank that can be used by academics to share assessment content within or across an institution is not new, but the advancement of technology and technical developments now have made such a repository realizable than ever before. A question bank is now a specialized repository that can be accessed via a web interface for platform independence. The use of technology in developing the question bank provides much relief for the chores associated with preparing assessments, which in turn enhances the quality of the questions and improves the quality of the assessments. This paper presents the experience of Open University Malaysia (OUM) in developing its own Question Bank (QBank). This QBank system is designed to help the Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who need to develop, classify and store their assessment such as MCQ and essay-type exam questions. This software is integrated with the OUM’s Virtual Learning Environments (myVLE) in order to allow easier and wider access to the SMEs and faculty. (Abstract by author

Scope Of Research on Sojourners in The Field of Tourism Studies

    Get PDF
This study conducts a comprehensive review of the current body of literature in order to elucidate the origins of sojourner studies, provide a clear definition of the sojourner concept, a concise summary and description of the four primary discourses within sojourner-related research, critically examine existing studies, and offer insights into potential avenues for future research. Narrative review method was used to systematically compile and analyse all sojourner-related articles published in English-language research journals up to 2023. Using Google search and Science Direct, a preliminary literature search and a thorough search on the research topic were conducted, respectively. To ensure the validity of the study, the relevant literature was tagged using a "snowballing" approach. Then, the relevant articles in core journals were read one by one and the literature in the field of tourism was intensively read. Finally, the relevant information was annotated and categorized by topic. The conclusion focuses on identifying research gaps in the field of tourism studies in the four areas of research perspectives; content, methodology, and theory on the research theme, and argues that more interdisciplinary perspectives are required to advance research in the areas of identity construction, cultural identity, and cross-cultural well-being of sojourners. This is the first systematic review of research on sojourners. It synthesizes the findings of 52 relevant research papers by analyzing publication trends. Key research gaps are identified and directions for future research are provided

The role of management commitment of service quality through job embeddedness on service recovery performance / Norhamizan Hamir

Service recovery is a corrective action that is carried out immediately by the service provider if the service offered went wrong. The employee is responsible to handle the situation in order to ensure that the customer who might not be satisfied with the situation that happens turns to be satisfied. One of the concepts of the service recovery that have been discussed in the literature is related to service recovery performance. The researcher defined that service recovery performance is to focus on the performance of frontline employees. Service recovery performance is not about a strategy or action to handle a service recovery situation which among others are an apology, giving discounted price and compensation but more towards the behavior of the frontline employees getting engage in resolving the situation. Past researchers have identified that the management commitment to service quality which represented by several indicators may lead to the service recovery performance of the employees. However, the relationship has a missing link. The objective of this conceptual paper is to further discuss the relationship between management commitment to service quality and service recovery performance with the present mediating role of job embeddedness among frontline hotel employees in four and a five-star hotels. The proposition suggested in this paper may require support with further empirical findings to be carried out

A review of length-weight relationships of freshwater fishes in Malaysia

    Get PDF
This manuscript reviews the length-weight relationships (LWRs) of freshwater fishes in Malaysia. A total of 102 LWRs of fishes gathered from literature pertaining to 64 freshwater fish species were analysed. A meta-analysis from 13 previous reports showed that the b values was ranged from 2.19 (Clarias batrachus) to 4.106 (Barbodes binotatus). Out of 64 observed species, 47 species (11 families) experienced positive allometric growth, while another 23 species (eight families) and 31 species (12 families) were recorded under isometric and negative allometric growth, respectively. The fish LWRs observed can be used as an indicator of environmental changes and fish ecological health for freshwater fishes in Malaysia

Businesses are made up of many sub-structure of activities. One particular activity that demands high attention is procurement. In the hospitality industry, the procurement department plays a major role in ensuring supply of raw material and goods are planned, purchased, distributed, and consumed efficiently. An influx of activities such as requisition, acquisition, and quality check is done in this department. In estimating the total cost of acquiring goods and services, it is important for organizations to identify unit costs and other costs associated with operations and maintenance that occurs during purchasing and conserving of goods. Recent studies have reported the usage of an Electronic Procurement System (EPS) that replaces the conventional procurement system typically used in Hotels. This paper aims to explore the current practice, effectiveness and efficiency of the procurement systems used in Malaysian hotels through in-depth interviews. Findings of this study will assist hospitality businesses to analyze their procurement activities and develop proper strategies that enables them to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and most importantly, improve their bottom line
