    Multi-objective discrete particle swarm optimisation algorithm for integrated assembly sequence planning and assembly line balancing

    In assembly optimisation, assembly sequence planning and assembly line balancing have been extensively studied because both activities are directly linked with assembly efficiency that influences the final assembly costs. Both activities are categorised as NP-hard and usually performed separately. Assembly sequence planning and assembly line balancing optimisation presents a good opportunity to be integrated, considering the benefits such as larger search space that leads to better solution quality, reduces error rate in planning and speeds up time-to-market for a product. In order to optimise an integrated assembly sequence planning and assembly line balancing, this work proposes a multi-objective discrete particle swarm optimisation algorithm that used discrete procedures to update its position and velocity in finding Pareto optimal solution. A computational experiment with 51 test problems at different difficulty levels was used to test the multi-objective discrete particle swarm optimisation performance compared with the existing algorithms. A statistical test of the algorithm performance indicates that the proposed multi-objective discrete particle swarm optimisation algorithm presents significant improvement in terms of the quality of the solution set towards the Pareto optimal set

    Online train ticket booking has become a popular option to facilitate travel. However, there are still issues in the user experience that can hinder the adoption of this technology, such as unintuitive User Interface, lack of personalization, and limitations in understanding user preferences. The purpose of this research is to address these issues through software development using the user persona method. This study applies the user persona method to identify characteristics and needs of potential users. This data is used to design a more intuitive and personalized User Interface, as well as to develop a system that is more accurate in recognizing user preferences. Additionally, in this research, we integrate principles of user experience design with business needs in online train ticket booking. The results of this research include an enhanced train ticket booking software with a simpler, more personalized, and more responsive User Interface to user preferences. This development also involves the use of better algorithms to understand and anticipate user needs, thus optimizing the experience in booking tickets. The application of the user persona method in the development of online train ticket booking software successfully addresses issues in user experience, improves satisfaction, and ticket booking efficiency. The next steps involve the potential integration of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and natural language processing to enhance the system's ability to respond to user needs

    An integrated representation scheme for assembly sequence planning and assembly line balancing

    In a typical assembly optimisation, Assembly Sequence Planning and Assembly Line Balancing are performed independently. However, competition has compelled the manufacturer to innovate by integrating the optimisation of both problems. To incorporate ASP and ALB optimisations into a single integrated optimisation, a clear prerequisite is the availability of integrated ASP and ALB representation. Although many assembly representation works has been proposed, none of them fully meet the requirements of integrated optimisation because they were developed independently from various needs. In this paper, an integrated representation scheme for ASP and ALB that incorporate essential optimisation information is developed. The proposed representation scheme is built based on assembly tasks and represented using precedence graph and data matrix. The outcome from presented example showed that the information for ASP and ALB optimisation can be integrated and represented using task based precedence graph and data matrix, without discarding important attributes

    Engine performance characteristics and evaluation of variation in the length of intake plenum

    In the engine with multipoint fuel injection system using electronically controlled fuel injectors has an intake manifold in which only the air flows and, the fuel is injected into the intake valve. Since the intake manifolds transport mainly air, the supercharging effects of the variable length intake plenum will be different from carbureted engine. Engine tests have been carried out with the aim of constituting a base study to design a new variable length intake manifold plenum. The objective in this research is to study the engine performance characteristics and to evaluate the effects of the variation in the length of intake plenum. The engine test bed used for experimental work consists of a control panel, a hydraulic dynamometer and measurement instruments to measure the parameters of engine performance characteristics. The control panel is being used to perform administrative and management operating system. Besides that, the hydraulic dynamometer was used to measure the power of an engine by using a cell filled with liquid to increase its load. Thus, measurement instrument is provided in this test to measure the as brake torque, brake power, thermal efficiency and specific fuel consumption. The results showed that the variation in the plenum length causes an improvement on the engine performance characteristics especially on the fuel consumption at high load and low engine speeds which are put forward the system using for urban roads. From this experiment, it will show the behavior of engine performance

    EVALUATION OF PHYSICAL PROPERTIES AND IRRITATION INDEX OF LOTION CONTAINING SYZIGIUM AROMATICUM CLOVE ESSENTIAL OIL AT VARIOUS CONCENTRATION

    In this study, the lotion contained essential oil of clove Syzigium aromaticum which contained eugenol as the active ingredient. Eugenol has been scientifically proven asanti-inflammatory. Because its activity, the study about development of dosage form is needed. Aims of this study was to know the physical properties of spreadibility,adhesivity, pH, viscosity and irritation index of lotion with variation concentration of essential oil. This study was started with a formulation of lotion with variation concentration of essential oil 5% (FI); 10% (FII); 15% (FIII). Lotion was evaluated physical properties with parameters spreadibility, adhesivity, viscosity and pH. The evaluation of iritation index was done using guinea pig test animals. Data were analyzed statistically with One Way Anova at confidence level of 95% to detect a significant difference between the treatment groups. The results of the study showed the variation consentration did not influence pH the increasing concentration caused a decreasing spredibility P<0.05 and increasing adhesivity P<0.05. The all of concentration did not irritated the skin of guinea pigs. Keywords: clove essential oils, irritation test, physical properties, lotions
