Interest in the use of heat pipe technology for heat recovery and energy saving in a vast range of engineering applications has been on the rise in recent years. Heat pipes are playing a more important role in many industrial applications, particularly in improving the thermal performance of heat exchangers and increasing energy savings in applications with commercial use. In this paper, a comprehensive CFD modelling was built to simulate the details of the two-phase flow and heat transfer phenomena during the operation of a wickless heat pipe or thermosyphon, that otherwise could not be visualised by empirical or experimental work. Water was used as the working fluid. The volume of the fluid (VOF) model in ANSYS FLUENT was used for the simulation. The evaporation, condensation and phase change processes in a thermosyphon were dealt with by adding a user-defined function (UDF) to the FLUENT code. The simulation results were compared with experimental measurements at the same condition. The simulation was successful in reproducing the heat and mass transfer processes in a thermosyphon. Good agreement was observed between CFD predicted temperature profiles and experimental temperature data. The Saudi Cultural Bureau in London, the Ministry of Higher Education and the Mechanical Engineering Department, Umm Al-Qura University

CFD modelling of a two-phase closed thermosyphon charged with R134a and R404a

This paper examines the application of CFD modelling to simulate the two-phase heat transfer mechanisms in a wickless heat pipe, also called a thermosyphon. Two refrigerants, R134a and R404a, were selected as the working fluids of the investigated thermosyphon. A CFD model was built to simulate the details of the two-phase flow and heat transfer phenomena during the start-up and steady-state operation of the thermosyphon. The CFD simulation results were compared with experimental measurements, with good agreement obtained between predicted temperature profiles and experimental temperature data, thus confirming that the CFD model was successful in reproducing the heat and mass transfer processes in the R134a and R404a charged thermosyphon, including the pool boiling in the evaporator section and the liquid film in the condenser section

A review of the relationship between CSR and the internal business process

Most of the previous investigations on organisational performance were directed towards the financial status at the expense of other social requirements, particularly with respect to firms’ operating environments. In addition, such studies were geared towards better understanding of the influence of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on Organizational Performance without adequate consideration for those non-financial factors, such as the Internal Business Perspective (IBP) that also affect the success of organizational strategic goals. The incorporation of CSR into organizational processes in driving home their strategic management success has been proven to be linked. In this paper, we review the inter relationship between CSR and IBP, and identify major themes from the literature. This study therefore justifies the need for an empirical study to further examine the interrelationships among these variables so as to provide better understanding of the influence of the CSR on the IBP

A review of non-financial perspectives of balanced scorecard and financial performance

Despite the celebrated performance benefits attributable to BSC in many firms, there exists the dearth of adequate research direction on the effectiveness and improvement of organizational financial performance towards achieving better results, especially with respect to the multiple perspectives of the Balanced Scorecard (BSC). The BSC model has four perspectives: Learning and Growth, Internal Process Perspective, Customer and Financial. This paper therefore reviews the influence of Non-financial BSC perspectives on Financial Performance. Based on existing literature, Non-financial factors have some influence on the BSC on the Financial Performance. This study provides a theoretical basis for future researchers to conduct imperial studies examining the relative importance of Non-financial Performance, and how it supports the Financial Performance and improves their investments

ABSTRACT The existence of fishing harbors became one of the factor that implies the performance of local fishermen. Since 2015, the fishing industry in Yemen has faced increased challenges, including a significant drop in the level of production; fish processing plants halting, and the disempowerment of the Ministry of Fish Wealth. Local fish landing centers and auction squares in the city of Aden suffer from a specific problem, which lies in their lack of many important services. Based on the problem, the study purposes to facilitate handling of fish products and provide comfortable environment for sellers, and consumers. Considering the needs of landing centers’ services, the study implement an assessment to show that there is a large diversity in services between the five fish landing sites. The study apply a qualitative-descriptive method by collecting primary data from field observations and interviews. The analysis was supported by secondary data collected from literature and precedent studies. The study conclude that the rehabilitation of the main fish landing centers will prevent the spread of Illegal auction squares, which were opened by private sector. The priority recommendations would be focused on jetty construction and upgrades, development of a vocational program for fisheries and fencing of the fish landing centers
