    Using Quizizz Application for Learning and Evaluating Grammar Material

       This research aims to enhance the students’ grammar achievement in learning relative pronouns by applying quizizz application The Subjects of the research are 24 students of Second semester who take Intermediate English Grammar Course in Balitar Islamic University. The design of the research is classroom action reseach which covers 4 main steps: Planning, Acting, Observing, and Evaluating.The researcher uses test and Questionnaire for gaining the data of the research. The research findings shows that the students’ achievement in learning relative pronouns increase after they learned the materials and evaluated by applying quizizz Application. Moreover, they’ also present positive views to the use of Quizizz for Learning and evaluating Relative Pronouns

    DEVELOPING ADOBE FLASH PROFESSIONAL AS A LEARNING MEDIA TO INCREASE THE FIRST GRADE STUDENTS` SPEAKING ACHIEVEMENT AT JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL IN THE 2018/2019 ACADEMIC YEARS

    The research was Research and development which intended to develop a valid and effective model of Adobe Flash Professional as a Learning Media to Increase the First Grade Students’ Speaking Achievement at Junior High School especially on the topics Greeting and leave taking as well as apologizing.This reseacrh applied Research and Development (R&D) design, based on Sugiyono model.which include : Analyzing potential and problem, Data collection, Product design, Product validation, Product revision, Product testing/try-out, Product revision and Final product. The subject of this research were 29 students of VII C in MTs Ma’arif NU GandusariBlitar. The data of the research were quantitative data ( the result from Test and Questionnaire) and qualitative ( the result of interview)The result of the research showed that: (1) The developed product (adobe flash profesional) as a learning media was valid, it was proved by the result of content English material validation (77.4%) and media validation (70.4%); (2) Developed Adobe flash professional as a learning mediawas effective to increase the first grade students’ speaking achievement, it was proved by the increasement of the students’ speaking mean score of Greeting and Leave Taking from (43.40) to (80.50) and score of Apologizing from (45.00) to (91.70); (3) Students gave positive responses toward the developed adobe flash professional as a learning media in teaching speaking reflected from the result of questionnire given (80.80%). From the result above, it can be concluded that adobe flash professional as a learning media was valid to be applied in teaching learning and effective to increase the first grade students’ speaking achievement at MTs Ma’arif NU GandusariBlitar

    Enhancing the Students’ Grammar Achievements of Conditional Sentences by Using Quizizz Platform in Senior High School

    Grammar Instruction in MAN Kota Blitar especially in class XI IPS 2 is not satisfactory. Because of that reason, the reserchers conducted a classroom action research to investigate 35 learners’ Grammar improvement of conditional sentence by using quizizz platform. The procedures of this research included: Planning, Acting, Observing, and Evaluating. For gaining the data, the researchers used Test and Questionnaire.The finding revealed that the Quizizz platform could enhance the stuudents’ achievement as well as gained positive views from students. Therefore, the researchers suggest the English teachers to use Quizizz Platform for creating joyful learning in or outside of the classroom

    PENINGKATAN KETERAMPILAN BERBICARA BAHASA INGGRIS MELALUI PENDEKATAN KOMUNIKATIF MAHASISWA PROGRAM STUDI BAHASA INGGRIS UNISBA

    This study aims at seeing process freshmen of English Department students at Balitar Islamic University improve their English speaking proficiency implementing communicative approach as the teaching teachniques. This study implemented classroom action research, and was conducted for one semester in the academic year 2014/2015. Improvements were focused on fluency, accuracy and cohesiveness involving 26 subjects.  Conducted in two cycles that succesviley involved research procedures on planning, acting, observing, and reflection, this study revealed the following findings.  First,  speaking fluency of the learners increases from 65% in the first cycle into 85% in the second cycle.  Second, speaking accuracy improves from 68% in the first cycle into 88% in the second cycle.  Third, cohesiveness of uttarences imoproves from 70% in the first cycle into 86% in the sevond cycle

    Developing Digital Module for Assisting the Seventh Grade Students to Write Descriptive Texts Easily

    This Research and development are intended to establish the digital module for helping the seventh-grade students to write descriptive text easily, to find out the validity of the digital module for assisting the seventh-grade students to write descriptive text as well as to investigate the teachers’ and students’ responses toward the developed digital module for writing descriptive text instruction. This study adapted Sugiyono's concepts which cover: analyzing potentials, problems and solutions, Design and development, Experts Validation and revision, Teachers’ and students’ perception, evaluation and revision, and Final product and publication. The results of this research revealed that 1) the developed digital module consisted of six units: 1) Introduction of Descriptive Text, 2) Let's Learn Vocabulary of Descriptive Text, 3) Let's Learn Grammar for Writing Descriptive Text, 4) Process of Writing Descriptive Text, 5 Let's Practice of Writing Descriptive Text, and 6) Evaluation. Furthermore, the digital module was also completed with worksheets, and manual guidelines for teachers and students, (2) The developed digital module was valid, as shown by the result of the average of the experts’ material validation =93, 3% (very valid), and the average result of media experts’ validation = 88, 9% (very valid), and (3) The developed digital module for learning writing of descriptive text got positive responses from teachers and students. It was supported by the result of the questionnaire given to the teachers = 86, 49% (very good) and the students = 87, 15% (very good).  From the result above it is suggested for the teachers to apply this developed digital module as supplementary materials to complete the book provided by the government

    LEARNING AND REVIEWING VOCABULARY THROUGH MEMRISE TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY ACHIEVEMENT

    This article dealt with classroom Action Research which intended to improve the vocabulary achievement of 39-second semester students of Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry at the Islamic University of Balitar by using Memrise. In this research, the students learned 3 levels of agriculture and vocabulary prepared and created by the lecturer in www.memrise.com. In order to have a good vocabulary achievement, the students are asked to learn the vocabulary in the classroom and review it at home through Memrise Application. The data of the research were collected from tests and questionnaire. This research was conducted in one cycle of action which covered (1) Planning, (2) Acting, (3) Observing and (4) Reflecting. The result of the research showed that the implementation of Memrise as learning and reviewing vocabulary tool could improve the students ’ vocabulary achievement from the mean score 60.45 (Pre-test) to 86.27 (Post-test). Moreover, the result of the research was strengthened by the student ’s positive responses toward the use of Memrise as learning and reviewing vocabulary tool as reflected from the result of the questionnaire given.     THE UTILIZATION OF DUOLINGO TO BOOST STUDENTS’ GRAMMAR MASTERY IN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

    This classroom action research utilized Duolingo to enhance the grammar mastery of 31 senior high school students in Reported Speech. The research procedures cover; planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The researchers collected data through tests. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in students' grammar of Reported Speech mastery, with test average scores increasing from 56.77 to 85.16. Regarding the result, teachers are suggested to integrate technology-based learning tools like Duolingo to create engaging and interactive learning environments and enhance students‘ mastery. However, it is important to note that individual student progress varied, and some students showed more substantial improvements compared to others. Further analysis and consideration of factors such as individual learning styles, frequency of Duolingo usage, and additional instructional support may help understand the variations in student performance.&nbsp

    DEVELOPING HOPSCOTCH BOARD FOR LEARNING READING OF DESCRIPTIVE TEXT IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

    The aims of this research are to develop a hopscotch board for learning reading of a descriptive text in junior high schools, know the validity of the developed hopscotch board for learning reading of the descriptive text, and gain the teachers’ and students’ responses toward the developed hopscotch board for learning reading of the descriptive text. This research adapted Research and Development (R&D) design based on Sugiyono’s model, which includes: (1) Finding potential and problem solution; (2) Design and development; (3) Experts validation and revision; (4) Teachers’ and students’ responses; (5) Evaluation by experts and revision; and (6) Final product. The findings revealed that: (1) the model of developed hopscotch board for learning reading descriptive text consisted of a hopscotch board, markers, ownership signs, how to play (for one group instruction and more than one group instruction), cards (reading descriptive cards, exercise cards, a key answer of exercise cards, punishment cards, and key answer of punishment cards), and 2 guidebooks (for teacher and students). (2) The developed hopscotch board was valid, it was proved by the result of material experts’ validation of 95% (very valid), and media experts’ validation of 95% (very valid). Furthermore, (3) Students and teachers gave positive responses toward the developed hopscotch board as learning media for learning to read the descriptive text as reflected in the result of the questionnaire given in which got 89% (very good) from students and 90% (very good) from the teachers. From the result above, we can infer that the developed hopscotch board was valid and appropriate to be used as an alternative media for learning reading of the descriptive text in junior high schools

    TEACHERS' SENSE OF SELF-EFFICACY, ENGLISH PROFICIENCY, AND TEACHING ABILITY IN EFL SETTING: A CASE STUDY IN TERTIARY LEVEL

    One important character which should be owned by teacher that influence the outcome of teacher is called as teacher self – efficacy. However, the correlation between teacher’ self – efficacy and linguistic proficiency hasn’t really investigated yet. Hence, this research aims to examine the connection between language proficiency to their efficacy perceptions. The participants of this research were 11 teachers of private University in Indonesia with various demographic characteristics. They were asked to answer related to the Teacher Efficacy Scale (TES) and recognize their linguistic proficiency self – rating. The statistical analyzing result which used Pearson – product moment correlation and Regression analysis showed a signification correlation between teacher’s self – efficacy and their proficiency level. The regression results also affirmed that the possibility level of proficiency of self – efficacy beliefs of teachers in classroom activity. The findings of this research are elaborated in relation to the previous research

    STRATEGI MENGHIDUPKAN MOTIVASI BELAJAR BAHASA INGGRIS ANAK (YOUNG LEARNERS) MELALUI LAGU DAN CERITA RAKYAT

    Abstrak: Kegiatan PKM ini bertujuan untuk menciptakan siswa yang kompeten dalam keterampilan bahasa Inggris melalui metode pengajaran yang menyenangkan di SDIT Bina Insan Cendekia, Pasuruan yang mana di kota tersebut terdapat tingkat pernikahan dini dan pengangguran yang tinggi. Diketahui dari hasil data yang didapatkan bahwa motivasi belajar masyarakat di daerah tersebut sangat rendah sehingga mengakibatkan dampak yang buruk bagi kesejahteraan penduduk di daerah tersebut. Maka dari itu, tim PKM merancang kegiatan PKM yaitu menggunakan lagu dan cerita rakyat untuk menghidupkan motivasi belajar Bahasa Inggris siswa-siswi usia dini menggunakan lagu-lagu populer dan cerita rakyat Indonesia yang diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Inggris dan ditampilkan dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yang mewakili kearifan lokal Indonesia. Hasil pelatihan ini telah mampu meningkatkan Bahasa Inggris siswa dari 60 ke 81. Kegiatan PKM ini telah menguntungkan siswa karena mereka memiliki kesempatan untuk menyimak dan membawakan lagu dan cerita rakyat dalam bahasa Inggris serta memotivasi mereka untuk berlatih bahasa Inggris mereka lebih aktif dan sering. Selain itu, kegiatan PKM ini juga memberikan insight bagi guru untuk lebih mengeksplorasi dan mengimplementasikan metode pengajaran Bahasa Inggris yang menyenangkan bagi anak-anak sehingga terbangunlah motivasi dan semangat belajar generasi muda.  Abstract:  This PKM activity aims to create students’ English language skills through fun teaching methods at SDIT Bina Insan Cendekia, Pasuruan which is an area with high rates of early marriage and unemployment. It is known from the data obtained that the learning motivation of the people in the area is very low, resulting in a bad impact on the welfare of the population in the area. Therefore, the team designed PKM activities, namely using songs and folklore to revive the motivation to learn English for early childhood students using popular songs and Indonesian folk tales which were translated into English and displayed in English learning that represented local wisdom. This PKM activity can improve students' English competence from 60 to 81. This PKM activity has benefited the students because they had the opportunity to listen and perform song and folklore in English and motivated and promoted them to learn and improve their English skills more often. In addition, this activity also provides insight for teachers to further explore and implement fun English teaching methods for children so that motivation and enthusiasm for learning is built for the younger generation
