Envejecimiento de módulos fotovoltaicos en sistemas de bombeo de agua en la provincia de Catamarca

El presente trabajo describe el comportamiento de los módulos fotovoltaicos instalados en el marco del convenio Argentino - Alemán de bombeo fotovoltaico en siete plantas de la Provincia de Catamarca. Se describe la metodología seguida para la determinación de su funcionamiento, teniendo en cuenta los principales inconvenientes que se presentaron en el curso de los nueve años de instalados los sistemas. Para las mediciones se adoptó un criterio de seguimiento que atiende fundamentalmente a la identificación de los módulos que presentan mayor deterioro, teniendo en cuenta que los mismos son los que producen la pérdida de eficiencia del conjunto y del sistema. Se propone una metodología de medición de bajos costo que permite evaluar el funcionamiento de los paneles fotovoltaicos y certificar su comportamiento para que los proveedores de los mismos restablezcan las condiciones operativas ante situaciones de deterioro.The present work describes the behaviour of modules photovoltaics installed in the frame of the Argentino- Alemán agreement of photovoltaic pumping systems, in seven plants in Catamarca Province. Bombeo fotovoltaico: un análisis técnico-social de instalaciones en la provincia de Catamarca

Las bajas precipitaciones pluviales y los escasos escurrimientos superficiales lleva a numerosas poblaciones rurales de Catamarca a recurrir al agua acumulada en represas, para bebida, arriesgándose a contraer enfermedades intestinales. Existen también servicios reducidos donde se extrae agua subterránea mediante bombeo, implicando elevados gastos operativos. Este factor y los elevados niveles de radiación solar, contribuyeron a decidir el uso de tecnología fotovoltaica para extraer agua subterránea. En el presente trabajo se describe: principales características de las poblaciones, problemas comunitarios y gubernamentales involucrados con la transferencia tecnológica, además de las características de los sistemas instalados. La evaluación del comportamiento durante nueve años permite reportar las fallas producidas y arribar a la conclusión que, a pesar de los problemas técnicos, el sistema cuenta con aceptación social en la mayoría de las poblaciones beneficiadas con el programa, salvo algunas que proponen la instalación de sistemas mixtos.The scarce pluvial precipitations and the low surface drainage make many rural populations in Catamarca resort to water reservoirs for drinking, running the risk of intestinal illnesses. Reduced services pumping out underground water involve high cost of operation. All this and the high solar radiation levels contributed to the decision to use photovoltaic energy to take out underground water. This work describes: the main populations characteristics of, community and governmental problems about technology transfer, besides the characteristics of installed systems. Amiodarone and metabolite MDEA inhibit Ebola virus infection by interfering with the viral entry process

Ebola virus disease (EVD) is one of the most lethal transmissible infections characterized by a high fatality rate, and a treatment has not been developed yet. Recently, it has been shown that cationic amphiphiles, among them the antiarrhythmic drug amiodarone, inhibit filovirus infection. In the present work, we investigated how amiodarone interferes with Ebola virus infection. Wild-type Sudan ebolavirus and recombinant vesicular stomatitis virus, pseudotyped with the Zaire ebolavirus glycoprotein, were used to gain further insight into the ability of amiodarone to affect Ebola virus infection. We show that amiodarone decreases Ebola virus infection at concentrations close to those found in the sera of patients treated for arrhythmias. The drug acts by interfering with the fusion of the viral envelope with the endosomal membrane. We also show that MDEA, the main amiodarone metabolite, contributes to the antiviral activity. Finally, studies with amiodarone analogues indicate that the antiviral activity is correlated with drug ability to accumulate into and interfere with the endocytic pathway. Considering that it is well tolerated, especially in the acute setting, amiodarone appears to deserve consideration for clinical use in EV
