Anisotropy and percolation threshold in a multifractal support
Recently a multifractal object, , was proposed to study percolation
properties in a multifractal support. The area and the number of neighbors of
the blocks of show a non-trivial behavior. The value of the
probability of occupation at the percolation threshold, , is a function

Are Neutron-Rich Elements Produced in the Collapse of Strange Dwarfs ?
The structure of strange dwarfs and that of hybrid stars with same baryonic
number is compared. There is a critical mass (M~0.24M_sun) in the strange dwarf
branch, below which configurations with the same baryonic number in the hybrid
star branch are more stable. If a transition occurs between both branches, the
collapse releases an energy of about of 3x10^{50} erg, mostly under the form of
neutrinos resulting from the conversion of hadronic matter onto strange quark
matter. Only a fraction (~4%) is required to expel the outer neutron-rich
layers. These events may contribute significantly to the chemical yield of
nuclides with A>80 in the Galaxy, if their frequency is of about one per 1500

Avaliação da aderência pneu-pavimento para diferentes tipos de pavimentos utilizando o International Friction Index (IFI)
A condição superficial do pavimento é um fator importante para a avaliação da segurança viária por caracterizar diretamente os níveis de atrito, que condicionam as frenagens veiculares. No intuito de padronizar os diversos indicadores de aderência, desenvolveu-se o International Friction Index (IFI). O principal objetivo deste método é quantificar o atrito superficial, reportando-o como um índice em escala que possa ser utilizado internacionalmente. Neste contexto, o presente estudo tem como objetivo avaliar a aderência pneu-pavimento para diferentes tipos de pavimentos utilizados no Brasil. Para isso, consolidou-se um extenso banco de dados, obtidos a partir da revisão da literatura, de microtextura e de macrotextura, englobando aproximadamente dez técnicas diferentes de pavimentação. Desta análise, obtiveram-se curvas que correlacionam coeficiente de atrito e a velocidade, observando-se a preponderância da macrotextura do material no desempenho da aderência pneu-pavimento.Pavement’s surface condition is a key parameter to evaluate traffic safety because it directly characterizes friction

resistance for different paving techniques. For that, an extent database of micro- and macrotexture was collected
from the literature, counting on more than 10 different paving techniques. From this analysis, curves of frictional

Confinement of bosonic and spinning particles in braneworlds
In this manuscript we study the confinement of bosonic and spinning test
particles in smooth Randall-Sundrum models. For this, we show that it is
possible to find an effective potential which describe the motion of the
particle over the extra dimension. For the bosonic case it is a known fact that
free test particles cannot be localized neither in thin nor thick branes.
Recently, a coupling to a scalar field has been used to localize a limited
range of masses. Up to now, no mechanism has been found that can trap test
particles of any mass over the brane. To solve this, we show that a coupling
with the dilaton can trap particles of any mass. Next we analyze the spinning
particle. The spin variables introduces an interaction with the
curvature Riemann tensor. This introduces a correction to the effective
potential. By analyzing it, we find that the spinning particle can be localized
at a position different of the brane. We also show that a spinning particle
over the brane can escape to infinity. Therefore, we can conclude that free
bosonic and spinning particles are not trapped to the brane
