Grain yield of mayze as a consequence of a crop rotation with a second crop, forage, green manure and lie fallow.
Among the numerous benefits of Crop-Livestock-Forest Integration are: the restoration of soil fertility, the establishment of pastures with low costs, the improvement in physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil, the control of pests, pathogens and weeds, the recycling of nutrients from the soil, the increase in grain yield. The Crop-Livestock-Forest systems can increase job opportunities, the efficiency in the use of machinery, equipment and manpower, and also productivity and profitability. Quantify these benefits should be role of the research to support public policy actions
Surface energy engineering of graphene
Contact angle goniometry is conducted for epitaxial graphene on SiC. Although
only a single layer of epitaxial graphene exists on SiC, the contact angle
drastically changes from 69{\deg} on SiC substrates to 92{\deg} with graphene.
It is found that there is no thickness dependence of the contact angle from the
measurements of single, bi, and multi layer graphene and highly ordered
pyrolytic graphite (HOPG). After graphene is treated with oxygen plasma, the
level of damage is investigated by Raman spectroscopy and correlation between
the level of disorder and wettability is reported. By using low power oxygen
plasma treatment, the wettability of graphene is improved without additional
damage, which can solve the adhesion issues involved in the fabrication of
graphene devices
Current and future chemotherapy for Chagas disease

The only treatments available have been introduced five decades ago. They have serious, undesirable side effects and disputed benefits in the chronic stage of the disease – a characteristic and debilitating cardiomyopathy and/or megavisceras. Several laboratories have therefore focused their efforts in finding better drugs. Although recent years have brought new clinical trials, these are few and lack diversity in terms of drug mechanism of action, thus resulting in a weak drug discovery pipeline. This fragility has been recently exposed by the failure of two candidates, posaconazole and E1224, to sterilely cure patients in phase 2 clinical trials. Such setbacks highlight the need for continuous, novel and high quality drug discovery and development efforts to discover better and safer treatments. In this article we will review past and current findings on drug discovery for Trypanosoma cruzi made by academic research groups, industry and other research organizations over the last half century. We will also analyze the current research landscape that is now better placed than ever to deliver alternative treatments for Chagas disease in the near futurePostprintPeer reviewe
Gessagem no sistema plantio direto.
Intrinsic response time of graphene photodetectors
Graphene-based photodetectors are promising new devices for high-speed
optoelectronic applications. However, despite recent efforts, it is not clear
what determines the ultimate speed limit of these devices. Here, we present
measurements of the intrinsic response time of metal-graphene-metal
photodetectors with monolayer graphene using an optical correlation technique
with ultrashort laser pulses. We obtain a response time of 2.1 ps that is
mainly given by the short lifetime of the photogenerated carriers. This time
translates into a bandwidth of ~262 GHz. Moreover, we investigate the
dependence of the response time on gate voltage and illumination laser power
Spin Relaxation in Single Layer Graphene with Tunable Mobility
Graphene is an attractive material for spintronics due to theoretical
predictions of long spin lifetimes arising from low spin-orbit and hyperfine
couplings. In experiments, however, spin lifetimes in single layer graphene
(SLG) measured via Hanle effects are much shorter than expected theoretically.
Thus, the origin of spin relaxation in SLG is a major issue for graphene
spintronics. Despite extensive theoretical and experimental work addressing
this question, there is still little clarity on the microscopic origin of spin
relaxation. By using organic ligand-bound nanoparticles as charge reservoirs to
tune mobility between 2700 and 12000 cm2/Vs, we successfully isolate the effect
of charged impurity scattering on spin relaxation in SLG. Our results
demonstrate that while charged impurities can greatly affect mobility, the spin
lifetimes are not affected by charged impurity scattering.Comment: 13 pages, 5 figure
