    System design for sustainable tourism

    No full text
The Chongming Sustainable Tourism project is a design initiated project where the designers take the responsibility of mobilizing all of the resource. Being defined as a rururban area, the closeness to the city and the nature of an agricultural area were considered to be the specific advantages of the location. In this framework, Service design is introduced the promoter for a sustainable local development on the economic, environmental and cultural aspects. The paper presents the results obtained from a thematic workshop held in Xianqiao Village during the last week of august 2010. With an interdisciplinary method, designers with different subjects, such as urban planning, architecture, interior and service system, collaborate with each other. A panoramic vision is being built. New design thinking and methods are emerging in this operative/research process

Semiempirical study of the Electronic , Optical Properties of the Er(8-hydroxyquinolinate)3 Complex

We use a simple quantum chemical semiempirical procedure to study the electronic properties of organiclanthanide complexes, taking as a model system Er(8-hydroxyquinolinate)3. Among the problems inherent to such a study is the fact that the lanthanide ion has never been parametrized in any of the standard semiempirical Hamiltonians. To overcome this difficulty, the lanthanide ion is replaced by a different but somewhat similar parametrized ion, or merely by a point charge. Good agreement with experiment, where available, is obtained, particularly in the former case. In fact, the electronic properties of the complex (apart from the emission properties) are seen to be scarcely affected by the nature of the lanthanide ion itself, but the core interactions between the metal ion and the ligand units play a relevant role, also in the calculation of the excitation energies. In particular, the ordering and separation of both singlet and triplet excited states are affected. The main conclusion is that to describe in detail the mechanism of the energy-transfer process occurring in the complex it is essential to take into account the geometry relaxation effects in the excited states

Preequilibrium GDR excitation and entrance channel angular momentum effects

The energy spectra of the γ-rays emitted in the 35Cl + 92Mo reaction at incident energy E = 260 MeV were measured in coincidence with the ejectiles produced in dissipative reaction events. The cumulative energy spectrum of the γ-rays coming from the decay of the ejectiles was calculated within the statistical model and its comparison to the experimental spectrum evidences an excess in the data for Eγ = 8 to 12 MeV. Such an excess, fitted with a Lorentz curve, is attributed to the preequilibrium GDR γ-decay of the intermediate dinuclear system. The centroid energy of the Lorentz curve corresponds to a dipole oscillation along the symmetry axis of the system and its width is found to be comparable to that of the ground state GDR low energy component of the deformed dinucleus. The small quantal dispersion Δl = (10.3 ± 0.1)ħ of the entrance channel angular momentum, determined by analysing the dissipative fragment angular distribution in the framework of the Strutinsky model, is suggested to limit the broadening of the preequilibrium GDR width

Transfer reactions on light exotic nuclei studied with CHIMERA detector at LNS

The kinematical coincidence method is used to extract angular distribution of elastic scattering and transfer reactions. The detected light particle energy spectra are used to extract the angular distribution with around 1° resolution in the Center of Mass (CM) system. Examples with 10Be beam are presented. In the case of proton scattering, γ-ray coincidences are used to discriminate excited levels population from elastic scattering
