In the present paper we complete the analysis discussed in a previous work, using an improved algorithm and an extended database of families. We confirm that the analysis connected to the search for the YORP-eye can lead to an estimate of the age

Level of physical activity in patients with osteoporosis

Objectives: The aim of this research was to examine the degree and types of physical activity (heavy physical activity, medium heavy and light physical activity) in female patients with lower bone mineral density compared to healthy women. Materials and Methods: The cross-sectional study included 40 female patients (65,85±11,46 yrs) with lower bone mineral density (BMD) and 20 patients (56,25±6,6 yrs) with no existing abnormality of BMD levels. The research was conducted at the Medical Rehabilitation Clinic, Clinical Center of Vojvodina. Data were collected using the internationally endorsed questionnaire IPAQ. BMD was measured at lumbar spine (L1-4) and at proximal femur by Dual X-ray Absorptiometry technique (DXA). Osteoporosis was defined as BMD > -2.5 T score. Results: We found that subjects with a normal bone mineral density had the highest level of physical activity (MET = 3154.58), followed by subjects with osteopenia (MET = 2311.25). Patients suffering from osteoporosis who were physically active had the lowest value of MET (1972.95) (p˂0.01). Sub-analysis based on BMI categories showed 10% (2 patients) of those with osteopenia were underweight, compared to 40% (8 patients) in the group with osteoporosis. Conclusions: Patients with osteoporosis were more obese and less physically active, as compared to healthier females. Our findings support the fact that adapted physical activity seems to be important for the prevention and treatment of patients with osteoporosis

Efficacy and safety of Armolipid Plus®: an updated PRISMA compliant systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled clinical trials.

Armolipid Plus® is a multi-constituent nutraceutical that claims to improve lipid profiles. The aim of this PRISMA compliant systematic review and meta-analysis was to globally evaluate the efficacy and safety of Armolipid Plus® on the basis of the available randomized, blinded, controlled clinical trials (RCTs). A systematic literature search in several databases was conducted in order to identify RCTs assessing the efficacy and safety of dietary supplementation with Armolipid Plus®. Two review authors independently identified 12 eligible studies (1050 included subjects overall) and extracted data on study characteristics, methods, and outcomes. Meta-analysis of the data suggested that dietary supplementation with Armolipid Plus® exerted a significant effect on body mass index (mean difference (MD) = -0.25 kg/m2, p = 0.008) and serum levels of total cholesterol (MD = -25.07 mg/dL, p < 0.001), triglycerides (MD = -11.47 mg/dL, p < 0.001), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (MD = 1.84 mg/dL, p < 0.001), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (MD = -26.67 mg/dL, p < 0.001), high sensitivity C reactive protein (hs-CRP, MD = -0.61 mg/L, p = 0.022), and fasting glucose (MD = -3.52 mg/dL, p < 0.001). Armolipid Plus® was well tolerated. This meta-analysis demonstrates that dietary supplementation with Armolipid Plus® is associated with clinically meaningful improvements in serum lipids, glucose, and hs-CRP. These changes are consistent with improved cardiometabolic health

Chirikov Diffusion in the Asteroidal Three-Body Resonance (5,-2,-2)

The theory of diffusion in many-dimensional Hamiltonian system is applied to asteroidal dynamics. The general formulations developed by Chirikov is applied to the Nesvorn\'{y}-Morbidelli analytic model of three-body (three-orbit) mean-motion resonances (Jupiter-Saturn-asteroid system). In particular, we investigate the diffusion \emph{along} and \emph{across} the separatrices of the (5,-2,-2) resonance of the (490) Veritas asteroidal family and their relationship to diffusion in semi-major axis and eccentricity. The estimations of diffusion were obtained using the Melnikov integral, a Hadjidemetriou-type sympletic map and numerical integrations for times up to 10810^{8} years.Comment: 27 pages, 6 figure

Somatic cell count characteristics in profitable milk production

Internationally acknowledged parameter for udder health estimation is the number of somatic cells in milk. In order to the Law regulations from 1995. in the EU countries, the fresh raw cow milk must not contain more than 400.000 somatic cells/ml. Similar to the regulation valid in EU countries, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Republic of Croatia in the year 2000. adopted a «Regulation About the Fresh Raw milk Quality» and in 2002. « Regulation About a Price of the Fresh Raw Milk». Due to the wide spectre of measured parameters controlled in accordance to the Regulation, each mistake and no forehanded reaction of the manufacturer or the veterinarianin in the health protection over the lactation period of the cow, will reflect the financial business activities. Therefore, it is necessary that the milk manufacturers adapt as soon as possible to the market demands using own and world scientific accomplishments in cattle-breeding. That way, animal health and the quality of milk will have an important place
