Domain wall description of superconductivity

In the present work we shall address the issue of electrical conductivity in superconductors in the perspective of superconducting domain wall solutions in the realm of field theory. We take our set up made out of a dynamical complex scalar field coupled to gauge field to be responsible for superconductivity and an extra scalar real field that plays the role of superconducting domain walls. The temperature of the system is interpreted through the fact that the soliton following accelerating orbits is a Rindler observer experiencing a thermal bath.Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures, Latex. Extrativismo e consumo da mangaba em Barra dos Coqueiros/Sergipe.

Nos últimos anos, uma nova tendência tem mobilizado os mercados nacional e internacional, o aumento da demanda de consumidores (exigentes e preocupados com hábitos saudáveis) por produtos naturais e exóticos (MOTA, 2005). A mangaba é uma das frutas que devido ao seu excelente aroma e sabor tem ocupado um espaço no mercado de consumo e atendido demandas que até então não existiam. Utilizada cada vez mais para a fabricação de polpas congeladas, sucos e sorvetes, além do consumo “in natura” em outras regiões do país, tem sido muito utilizada no fabrico de xaropes, licor, doces, compotas e geléias. Em Barra dos Coqueiros, a mangabeira é de ocorrência natural em todo o município, mas predomina geograficamente nos povoados Olhos D’água, Capoã, e Jatobá. Nesses povoados a ação das populações extrativistas contribuiu para o aumento do número de plantas nos estabelecimentos privados, e na área de acesso comum a densidade foi elevada pelo processo natural de regeneração do ambiente. Considerando esse contexto, o presente trabalho objetiva fazer uma caracterização do extrativismo no município, desde o momento da coleta da fruta até a sua comercialização, destacando os atores de pesquisa – as catadoras de mangaba – bem como os canais de comercialização e os consumidores

Cell spotting: Educational and motivational outcomes of cell biology citizen science project in the classroom

Success stories of citizen science projects widely demonstrate the value of this open science paradigm and encourage organizations to shift towards new ways of doing research. While benefits for researchers are clear, outcomes for individuals participating in these projects are not easy to assess. The wide spectrum of volunteers collaborating in citizen science projects greatly contributes to the difficulty in the evaluation of the projects'' outcomes. Given the strong links between many citizen science projects and education, in this work we present an experience with hundreds of students (aged 15-18) of two different countries who participate in a project on cell biology research-Cell Spotting-as part of their regular classroom activities. Apart from introducing the project and resources involved, we aim to provide an overview of the benefits of integrating citizen science in the context of formal science education and of what teachers and students may obtain from it. In this case, besides helping students to consolidate and apply theoretical concepts included in the school curriculum, some other types of informal learning have also been observed such as the feeling of playing a key role, which contributed to an increase of students'' motivation

Degradabilidade in situ da jurema Preta (Mimosa tenuiflora ) oriunda de caatinga raleada e enriquecida.

Resumo: Objetivou-se avaliar a degradação in situ da Jurema preta. Foram estimados os valores da degradação potencial e efetiva da matéria seca, proteína bruta e fibra em detergente neutro. A jurema preta apresenta bom potencial de degradação para matéria seca e fibra em detergente neutro, já para a proteína bruta, parece haver necessidade de ação enzimática pós rúmen para que seja melhor aproveitada. [In situ degradability of jurema preta (Mimosa tenuiflora) in thinned and enriched caatinga rangelands]. Abstract: We aimed with this manuscript to present the evaluation of in situ degradability of Jurema preta in thinned and enriched caatinga. Were estimated the potential and effective degradation of dry matter, crude protein and neutral detergent fiber. The jurema preta shrubs have good potential to dry matter and neutral detergent fiber degradation, but to crude protein, to maximize their harnessing the post rumen digestion is needed
