Optical spectroscopy of IRAS sources with infrared emission bands. 1: IRAS 21282+5050 and the diffuse interstellar bands
Spectroscopy of the starlike optical counterpart to IRAS 21282+5050, a source with the hydrocarbon infrared emission band spectrum, shows an 07(f)-(WC11) planetary nebula nucleus suffering an extinction of 5.7 mag. Emission line widths in the WC spectrum are only approx. 100 km/s, indicating a very slow stellar wind. Optical diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) are prominent. Five DIBs are strongly enhanced, namely lamda lamda 5797, 6196, 6203, 6283, and 6613. The presence of circumstellar hydrocarbon molecules may explain both the infrared emission bands and the enhanced DIBs

k-core (bootstrap) percolation on complex networks: Critical phenomena and nonlocal effects
We develop the theory of the k-core (bootstrap) percolation on uncorrelated
random networks with arbitrary degree distributions. We show that the k-core
percolation is an unusual, hybrid phase transition with a jump emergence of the
k-core as at a first order phase transition but also with a critical
singularity as at a continuous transition. We describe the properties of the
k-core, explain the meaning of the order parameter for the k-core percolation,
and reveal the origin of the specific critical phenomena. We demonstrate that a
so-called ``corona'' of the k-core plays a crucial role (corona is a subset of
vertices in the k-core which have exactly k neighbors in the k-core). It turns
out that the k-core percolation threshold is at the same time the percolation
threshold of finite corona clusters. The mean separation of vertices in corona
clusters plays the role of the correlation length and diverges at the critical
point. We show that a random removal of even one vertex from the k-core may
result in the collapse of a vast region of the k-core around the removed
vertex. The mean size of this region diverges at the critical point. We find an
exact mapping of the k-core percolation to a model of cooperative relaxation.
This model undergoes critical relaxation with a divergent rate at some critical

ESHRE task force on ethics and law 15: Cross-border reproductive care
This paper analyses the ethical aspects of cross-border reproductive care. Ethical questions are raised by some of the main reasons of cross-border travelling, i.e. law evasion and unequal access to treatment. The phenomenon also generates possible conflicts linked to the responsibility of the professionals. Three points are discussed: the moral obligation of the physician to refer the patient, his/her duty to provide information and counselling and the acceptability of fee-splitting. The recommendations focus on measures to reduce or limit the number of patients that have to travel abroad and on steps to guarantee the safety and quality of the treatment wherever it is provided
On Markovian solutions to Markov Chain BSDEs
We study (backward) stochastic differential equations with noise coming from
a finite state Markov chain. We show that, for the solutions of these equations
to be `Markovian', in the sense that they are deterministic functions of the
state of the underlying chain, the integrand must be of a specific form. This
allows us to connect these equations to coupled systems of ODEs, and hence to
give fast numerical methods for the evaluation of Markov-Chain BSDEs
Towards a generalisation of formal concept analysis for data mining purposes
In this paper we justify the need for a generalisation of Formal
Concept Analysis for the purpose of data mining and begin the
synthesis of such theory. For that purpose, we first review semirings and
semimodules over semirings as the appropriate objects to use in abstracting
the Boolean algebra and the notion of extents and intents, respectively.
We later bring to bear powerful theorems developed in the field
of linear algebra over idempotent semimodules to try to build a Fundamental
Theorem for K-Formal Concept Analysis, where K is a type of
idempotent semiring. Finally, we try to put Formal Concept Analysis in
new perspective by considering it as a concrete instance of the theory
developed
Scale-Free Networks are Ultrasmall
We study the diameter, or the mean distance between sites, in a scale-free
network, having N sites and degree distribution p(k) ~ k^-a, i.e. the
probability of having k links outgoing from a site. In contrast to the diameter
of regular random networks or small world networks which is known to be d ~
lnN, we show, using analytical arguments, that scale free networks with 2<a<3
have a much smaller diameter, behaving as d ~ lnlnN. For a=3, our analysis
yields d ~ lnN/lnlnN, as obtained by Bollobas and Riordan, while for a>3, d ~
lnN. We also show that, for any a>2, one can construct a deterministic scale
free network with d ~ lnlnN, and this construction yields the lowest possible

The peculiar Na-O anticorrelation of the bulge globular cluster NGC 6440
Context. Galactic Globular Clusters (GCs) are essential tools to understand
the earliest epoch of the Milky Way, since they are among the oldest objects in
the Universe and can be used to trace its formation and evolution. Current
studies using high resolution spectroscopy for many stars in each of a large
sample of GCs allow us to develop a detailed observational picture about their
formation and their relation with the Galaxy. However, it is necessary to
complete this picture by including GCs that belong to all major Galactic
components, including the Bulge. Aims. Our aim is to perform a detailed
chemical analyses of the bulge GC NGC 6440 in order to determine if this object
has Multiple Populations (MPs) and investigate its relation with the Bulge of
the Milky Way and with the other Galactic GCs, especially those associated with
the Bulge, which are largely poorly studied. Methods. We determined the stellar
parameters and the chemical abundances of light elements (Na, Al), iron-peak
elements (Fe, Sc, Mn, Co, Ni), -elements (O, Mg, Si, Ca, Ti) and heavy
elements (Ba, Eu) in seven red giant members of NGC 6440 using high resolution
spectroscopy from FLAMES@UVES. Results. We found a mean iron content of
[Fe/H]=-0.500.03 dex in agreement with other studies. We found no internal
iron spread. On the other hand, Na and Al show a significant intrinsic spread,
but the cluster has no significant O-Na anticorrelation nor exhibits a Mg-Al
anticorrelation. The -elements show good agreement with the Bulge field
star trend, although they are at the high alpha end and are also higher than
those of other GCs of comparable metallicity. The heavy elements are dominated
by the r-process, indicating a strong contribution by SNeII. The chemical
