Gluon TMD fragmentation function into quarkonium

We compute the gluon transverse-momentum-dependent fragmentation function (TMDFF) at next-to-leading order (NLO) into heavy quarkonium in the color-octet 3S1[8]^3S_1^{[8]} channel, based on the NRQCD factorization approach. The spurious rapidity divergences are explicitly shown to cancel in a well-defined TMDFF, which incorporates the needed soft factor. We also compute the integrated gluon FF at NLO in the same 3S1[8]^3S_1^{[8]} channel, and show that the matching coefficient of the TMDFF onto the FF at large transverse momentum is the expected one. These results are relevant to perform precise and sensible phenomenological studies of transverse-momentum spectra of quarkonium production, for which the production mechanism through fragmentation plays a relevant role, like in the future Electron-Ion Collider.Comment: v2: typos corrected; v1: 29 pages, 2 figure

Overbite as an Etiological Factor of TMJ Disorders. Clinical and Electromyographic Exploration

    Get PDF
INTRODUCTION: The intermaxillar relationship in overbite is one of the etiological factors of TMJ disorders (Pulinger, Sellingman and Gorbeirn, 1993). Nevertheless, it does not always cause malfunction. Sometimes the compensating mechanisms of the individual prevent the occurrence of symptoms and it only appears when parafunctional habit overloads the stomatognathic apparatus. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to escamine neuromuscular behaviour in patients with such occlusal alteration. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We present two cases with overbite: one bruxist with malfunction and one nonbruxist without symptoms of malfunction. An occlusal analysis and clinical, kinesiographic and electromyographic exploration was performed in both patients. For the analysis we used a Dentatus A.R.L. articulator, Myotronics electromyograph and K6 kinesiograph. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: The results of the exploration were compared with those of a healthy individual with normal occlusion, used as a reference. Lateral movements were restricted and with a mainly vertical component. In both cases there was an increase in electromyographic activity during normal mastication and swallowing, and in maximum force bite there was the same response between anterior temporalis and masseter muscles. The study demonstrated that the mandibular movements in both patients were very similar, and determined by the occlusal factor, in comparison to normal individuals. Nevertheless, the electromyographic exploration shows a different neuromuscular response by the patient adapted to this occlusal problem and the dysfunctional patient

    Russia and "hybrid warfare"

    Get PDF
In the aftermath of the Crimea annexation in March 2014, the idea of ‘hybrid warfare’ quickly gained prominence as a concept that could help to explain the success of Russian military operations in this conflict. Although the concept continues to enjoy widespread popularity in both scholarly and policy circles, its utility as an analytical tool is also heavily contested. This article adds to the literature critical of the ‘hybrid warfare’ concept. It argues that in addition to the fact that what is now described as a ‘hybrid’ approach to war is in fact nothing new, the problems pertaining to its utility for the study of contemporary Russia go deeper than this. ‘Hybrid warfare’ inadequately reflects the direction of Russian military modernisation and as such has led to a skewed understanding of Russian military capabilities. Moreover, the tendency to use ‘hybrid warfare’ not only to conceptualise developments in the Russian military, but in the country’s foreign policy in general, can lead to serious unintended consequences

Global noise studies for CMS Tracker upgrade

7 páginas, 6 figuras.-- Trabajo presentado al "Topical Workshop on Electronics for Particle Physics 2010 (TWEPP-10)" celebrado en Alemania.-- Open Access.-- et al.The characterization of the noise emissions of DC-DC converters at system level is critical to optimize the design of the detector and define rules for the integration strategy. This paper presents the impedance effects on the noise emissions of DC-DC converters at system level. Conducted and radiated noise emissions at the input and at the output from DC-DC converters have been simulated for different types of power network and FEE impedances. System aspects as granularity, stray capacitances of the system and different working conditions of the DC-DC converters are presented too. This study has been carried out using simulation models of noise emissions of DC-DC converters in the real scenario. The results of these studies show important recommendations and criteria to be applied to integrate the DC-DC converters and decrease the system noise level.C.R. wants to thank to US DOE, under contract DE-AC02-76SF00515, for the support of this work.Peer reviewe

Oxidative stability of microalgae oil and its acylglycerol mixture obtained by enzymatic glycerolysis and the antioxidant effect of supercritical rosemary extract

The oxidative stability of microalgae oil (MO) and its enzymatic glycerolysis product (GP) have been determined by using the accelerated oxidation methods differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Rancimat at temperatures in the range 50–90 °C. Kinetic analyses of MO and GP provide Arrhenius activation energy and activation enthalpy and entropy, temperature coefficients, Q10 and oxidative stability index at 20 °C (OSI20), based on secondary and tertiary oxidation products. Susceptibility of microalgae oil to oxidation has been compared to that of fish and vegetable oils, with OSI20 values of 647 h for MO and 381 h for GP. The tcoeff and Q10 values are very similar to those observed for fish and vegetable oils. Protective effect from oxidation of a supercritical rosemary extract (RE) for both MO and GP have been evaluated. In the presence of this antioxidant, up to twofold increase of OSI20 has been obtained for MO. Lower protection for GP was observed. Activity antioxidant Index (AAI), related to the mechanism of action of the antioxidant, should be carefully examined for a reliable determination of OSI20 valuesThis study has been funded by Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovacion ´ (project number PID 2020-119084RB-C21), Universidad Autonoma ´ de Madrid (ALIBIRD, S2018/BAA-4343) and Fundacion ´ Ramon ´ Areces (CIVP20A6607). Very Large Telescope Observations of the peculiar globular cluster NGC6712. Discovery of a UV, H-alpha excess star in the core

    Get PDF
We present results from multi-band observations in the central region of the cluster NGC6712 with the ESO-Very Large Telescope. Using high resolution images we have identified three UV-excess stars. In particular two of them are within the cluster core, a few arcsec apart: the first object is star "S" which previous studies identified as the best candidate to the optical counterpart to the luminous X-ray source detected in this cluster. The other UV object shows clearcut H-alpha emission and, for this reason, is an additional promising interacting binary candidate (a quiescent LMXB or a CV). The presence of two unrelated interacting binary systems a few arcsec apart in the core of this low-density cluster is somewhat surprising and supports the hypothesis that the (internal) dynamical history of the cluster and/or the (external) interaction with the Galaxy might play a fundamental role in the formation of these peculiar objects.Comment: 15 pages, 3 figures.
