Grundlagenforschung zum Dualen System und Kompetenzentwicklung in der Lehrerbildung

    Get PDF

(DIPF/Orig.)On the basis of experiences gained in England, the author discusses the dangers and the potential inherent in educational standards and in management by output control with regard to equality of educational opportunity in ethnically heterogeneous contexts. Three levels - that of the educational system, that of the school, and that of the classroom - are taken into consideration. It is shown in how far the concept of ethnic monitoring common in England contributes to the levelling of opportunities, whereas the conditions on the free educational market run counter to the claim of enabling all students to reach certain achievement standards. In a final part, the perspectives for the development of educational standards in Germany are discussed against the background of insights gained in England. (DIPF/Orig.

Hybrid identities? The self-positioning of young transmigrants

(DIPF/Orig.)In this article the authors deal with the question how growing-up in the context of transnational migration challenges the identity construction of young people. They focus their discussion on the concept of \u27hybrid identities\u27, which was devised as part of the theoretical projects of \u27Cultural Studies\u27. Within German educational science this concept is usually employed in order to stress the creative and productive aspects of identity construction in the context of migration. Based on theoretical reflections by Stuart Hall, the authors define \u27hybrid identity\u27 as a specific mode of identity discourse and the according positioning of the self within (dominant) national-cultural systems of representation. They analyze extracts from interviews with two young female transmigrants, whose experiences are characteristic for two different \u27types of migration\u27 (\u27guest-worker migration\u27; \u27new migration\u27). The authors thereby show that the concept of \u27hybrid identities\u27 is suitable to capture both parallels and differences of self-positioning processes of the young women, who have to tackle different categories of dominant identity ascriptions. SHADOW IT SYSTEMS: DISCERNING THE GOOD AND THE EVIL

Shadow IT is becoming increasingly important as digital work practices make it easier than ever for business units crafting their own IT solutions. Prior research on shadow IT systems has often used fixed accounts of good or evil: They have been celebrated as powerful drivers of innovation or demonized as lacking central governance. We introduce a method to IT managers and architects enabling a more nuanced understanding of shadow IT systems with respect to their architectural embeddedness. Drawing on centrality measures from network analysis, the method portrays shadow IT systems as most critical if they hold a central position in a network of applications and information flows. We use enterprise architecture data from a recycling company to demonstrate and evaluate the method in a real project context. In the example, several critical and yet disregarded shadow IT systems have been identified and measures were taken to govern them decently

The potential of host-specific volatiles from Tribolium confusum larval faeces for luring the ectoparasitoid Holepyris sylvanidis: Presentation

The ectoparasitoid Holepyris sylvanidis (Bethylidae) attacks larvae of different stored product pest beetles. Previous studies on the olfactory host search of H. sylvanidis revealed that female parasitoids are strongly attracted to volatiles released from Tribolium confusum larval faeces, in particular to (E)-2-nonenal and 1-pentadecene. We suggested that these host-specific key compounds may serve the parasitoid as long-range attractants for host location. In this context, we propose that the attractive volatile blend could be used to establish a new approach within the biological control of stored product pests by guiding the parasitoid to its host and thus, increasing the host finding success. We investigated the potential of the identified host-indicating volatile cues to attract H. sylvanidis from a distance by offering the two key compounds to female parasitoids. Their walking behaviour and the covered distance were analysed on a Kramer sphere. Moreover, in semi-field trials both attractive volatiles were loaded onto rubber septa which were placed next to 4th instars of T. confusum at 1.5 m distance from the parasitoids. We studied the host finding success of H. sylvanidis by (i) measuring the mean time to locate and parasitise T. confusum larvae and (ii) counting the number of parasitised and unparasitised host larvae as well as the number of newly hatched parasitoids compared to the control without additional olfactory cues. First results showed that H. sylvanidis females can locate the provided host larvae from a distance. Parasitistion of host larvae started four days after the release of parasitoids. No effect of the additionally offered hostspecific key volatiles ((E)-2-nonenal and 1-pentadecene) on the parasitoid´s host finding success was observed at the given conditions and used amounts of compounds. Further studies are required to determine the right odour blend and concentrations for attraction of parasitoids over a distance and finally to show that the addition of host-derived kairomones may support the host finding success of H. sylvanidis. The ectoparasitoid Holepyris sylvanidis (Bethylidae) attacks larvae of different stored product pest beetles.
