Uzależnienie od ćwiczeń fizycznych wśród studentów na podstawie adaptowanej do polskich warunków Skali EDS-R

    Get PDF
The purpose of the research was to adapt the Exercise Dependence Scale – Revised (EDS-R) by H. A. Hausenblas and D. Symons Downs to the Polish context and to evaluate the exercise addiction rate among students. The research was conducted online with 290 interviewees aged 19–23 years. Factor analysis confirmed the 7-factor structure of the EDS-R test and its good internal consistency. All the subscales were characterized by adequate reliability. To evaluate scale’s accuracy, the correlation between the EDS-R scale and a question concerning the number of hours of exercise per week was measured. The number of hours spent exercising per week was favorably connected with all of the subscales of the EDS-R. Those results were confirmed by differential analysis. Based on the EDS-R test, the participants were classified as (1) at risk of exercise addiction (5.5%), (2) not addicted (symptomatic group) (72.8%) and (3) not addicted (asymptomatic) (21.7%). The material presented in the article may contribute to further research using the Polish adaptation of the EDS-R scale in different populations (e.g., due to different physical activities undertaken by the exercisers).Celem podjętych badań była adaptacja testu ESD-R autorstwa H.A. Hausenblas i D. Symons Downs do polskich warunków oraz ocena skali występowania uzależnienia od ćwiczeń fizycznych wśród studentów. Badania przeprowadzono online. Objęły one 290 osób w wieku od 19 do 23 lat. Stosując analizę czynnikową, potwierdzono strukturę 7-czynnikową skali ESD-R i dobrą jej wewnętrzną spójność.

Improving company’s environmental performance through Green Lean approach

Motivation: Green Lean (Lean and Green) approach is based on the lean method. As the literature and case studies show the Japanese quality improvement tools can be used in environmental management as well as in quality management. Companies that focus on sustainability may use those tools and methods to improve its processes and eliminate green waste at the same time. The research concentrates on the examples of the companies that started to implement the Green Lean (Lean and Green). The study shows interesting ways of minimalizing company’s negative impact on the environment by using Green Lean approach.Aim: The purpose of the article is to present how the application of Green Lean (Lean and Green) approach improves the environmental performance of the company and what are the benefits. Results: By identifying and eliminating the green waste i.e. in energy, materials, garbage, water, emissions, biodiversity, transportation researched companies are minimizing its negative impact on environment. As the research shows the employees should be motivated and involved in the process so does the management to make it work. Green Lean (Lean and Green) approach enables the companies to perform in profitable and sustainable way at the same time

Chemometrics for ion mobility spectrometry data:Recent advances and future prospects

Contains fulltext : 161386.pdf (publisher's version ) (Open Access)Historically, advances in the field of ion mobility spectrometry have been hindered by the variation in measured signals between instruments developed by different research laboratories or manufacturers. This has triggered the development and application of chemometric techniques able to reveal and analyze precious information content of ion mobility spectra. Recent advances in multidimensional coupling of ion mobility spectrometry to chromatography and mass spectrometry has created new, unique challenges for data processing, yielding high-dimensional, megavariate datasets. In this paper, a complete overview of available chemometric techniques used in the analysis of ion mobility spectrometry data is given. We describe the current state-of-the-art of ion mobility spectrometry data analysis comprising datasets with different complexities and two different scopes of data analysis, i.e. targeted and non-targeted analyte analyses. Two main steps of data analysis are considered: data preprocessing and pattern recognition. A detailed description of recent advances in chemometric techniques is provided for these steps, together with a list of interesting applications. We demonstrate that chemometric techniques have a significant contribution to the recent and great expansion of ion mobility spectrometry technology into different application fields. We conclude that well-thought out, comprehensive data analysis strategies are currently emerging, including several chemometric techniques and addressing different data challenges. In our opinion, this trend will continue in the near future, stimulating developments in ion mobility spectrometry instrumentation even further

5-Arylidenerhodanines as P-gp modulators : an interesting effect of the carboxyl group on ABCB1 function in multidrug-resistant cancer cells

Multidrug resistance (MDR) is considered one of the major mechanisms responsible for the failure of numerous anticancer and antiviral chemotherapies. Various strategies to overcome the MDR phenomenon have been developed, and one of the most attractive research directions is focused on the inhibition of MDR transporters, membrane proteins that extrude cytotoxic drugs from living cells. Here, we report the results of our studies on a series newly synthesized of 5-arylidenerhodanines and their ability to inhibit the ABCB1 efflux pump in mouse T-lymphoma cancer cells. In the series, compounds possessing a triphenylamine moiety and the carboxyl group in their structure were of particular interest. These amphiphilic compounds showed over 17-fold stronger efflux pump inhibitory effects than verapamil. The cytotoxic and antiproliferative effects of target rhodanines on T-lymphoma cells were also investigated. A putative binding mode for 11, one of the most potent P-gp inhibitors tested here, was predicted by molecular docking studies and discussed with regard to the binding mode of verapamil
