Folk arts are divided into three categories: social, religious, and professional. Moreover, professional arts are subject to the distinction between professional and non-professional arts. Among the above classifications, 'Uriyadi' falls under the category of religious arts. In Vaishnava shrines, the Uriyadi Utsav festival is celebrated every year for 11 days, starting from the chanting of Gayatri Mantras the day after the full moon (Pournarmi) in the Tamil month of Aavani, to the day after Gokulashtami. It will happen on the tenth day. Sri Rukmani's wedding will take place the next day. The Uriyadi festival is celebrated grandly at Varagur, near Thirukattupalli, in the Thanjavur district. The 'Uriyadi' festival is celebrated in every Vaishnava shrine to commemorate the playful activities of Sri Krishna, who stole Navaneetham (butter). "Uri" is a mat threaded with thin bamboo sticks, rolled up, and placed inside it, with a fresh earthen pot inside which snacks are tied tightly like a long drum and hung on one end of the bamboo Uri. The rope tied to the other end of the bamboo is arranged in such a way that when a person pulls it downwards, the rope goes upwards, and when he loosens the rope, the Uri goes downwards. Uriyadi is the process of beating the earthen pot, thus arranging and picking up the snacks from it. ‘Uri’ and ‘Climbing Greasy Pole’ are not just games. These are Sri Krishna's acts, and he has philosophies behind them. Uriyadi is performed to attain moksha or bliss (to acquire and attain perfect knowledge)

Low FODMAP in 2017: Lessons learned from clinical trials and mechanistic studies

Given the prevalence of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and the suboptimal response to most therapeutic approaches, there has been increasing interest in and adoption of dietary treatment strategies, such as the low Fermentable Oligo‐, Di‐, & Mono‐Saccharides and Polyols (FODMAP) diet. FODMAPs are a diverse group of carbohydrates that exert effects in the gastrointestinal tract not only via fermentation but likely via alterations in the microbiota, metabolome, permeability, and intestinal immunity as well. Clinical evidence for efficacy of this diet is mounting, but there are significant questions regarding short‐ and long‐term safety and effects on the microbiota and nutrition that remain unanswered. This review article interprets the recent findings reported in this issue of Neurogastroenterology and Motility and summarizes the mechanistic and clinical efficacy data of the low FODMAP diet in IBS patients to date. This review article interprets the recent findings reported in this issue of Neurogastroenterology and Motility and summarizes the mechanistic and clinical efficacy data of the low FODMAP diet in IBS patients to date.Peer Reviewedhttps://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/136409/1/nmo13055_am.pdfhttps://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/136409/2/nmo13055.pd

Effect of Microwave Irradiation on the Dielectric Characteristics of Semi-Conductive Nanoparticle-Based Nanofluids: Progress towards the Microwave Synthesis

    Get PDF
Studies on dispersing nanoparticles in base fluid to elevate its essential and critical properties have evolved significantly in the recent decade. Alongside the conventional dispersion techniques used for nanofluid synthesis, microwave energy at 2.4 GHz frequency is irradiated onto the nanofluids is experimented with in this study. The effect of microwave irradiation on the electrical and thermal properties of semi-conductive nanofluids (SNF) is investigated and presented in this article. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are the semi-conductive nanoparticles used for this study to synthesize the SNF, viz., titania nanofluid (TNF) and zinc nanofluid (ZNF). Flash and fire points are the thermal properties verified, and dielectric breakdown strength, dielectric constant ((Formula presented.)), and dielectric dissipation factor (tan (Formula presented.)) are the electrical properties verified in this study. AC breakdown voltage (BDV) of TNF and ZNF is improved by 16.78% and 11.25%, respectively, more than SNFs prepared without microwave irradiation. Results justify that the synergetic effect of stirring, sonication, and microwave irradiation in a rational sequence (microwave synthesis) exhibited better electrical and unaltered thermal properties. This microwave-applied nanofluid synthesis could be a simple and effective route to prepare the SNF with improved electrical properties
