    A pesar de la fuerte reglamentación que la prohíbe. la tenencia de fauna silvestre en cautiverio es considerada una práctica ética y moralmente aceptada en el interior de las comunidades humanas de la región amazónica, sin que medien mecanismos dé prevención y control de riesgos, especialmente del tipo zoonótico. La investigación desarrollada durante e[ año 20 I 0, en el perímetro urbano de Florencia - Caquetá, con el uso de listas de chequeo. demostró que los animales,más frecuentemente mantenidos en cautiverio son aves, especialmente loras, seguida por mamíferos y en último lugar reptiles (Chelonios); lo.anterior coincide con los reportes de decomisos y entregas voluntarias presentados por Corpoamazonía, Estrada y otros (2005). El hogar de Paso para Fauna Silvestre de la Uníversidad de la Amazonía. Se confirmó que la razón de tenencia corresponde a necesidades antrópicas no vitales, como la servir de animales de compañía y que la práctica se concentra en los estratos uno y dos. El elevado contacto físico directo con los animales mantenidos en cautiverio y el hecho de que estos sean obliga¿os a convivir con animales de distinta o su misma especies, sumado a las pocas y en muchos casos nulas. medidas higiénicas adoptadas por los tenedores. hace suponer que la transmisión interespecífica de enfermedades. encuentra aquí un camino viables

    Forward Global Photometric Calibration of the Dark Energy Survey

    Many scientific goals for the Dark Energy Survey (DES) require calibration of optical/NIR broadband b=grizYb = grizY photometry that is stable in time and uniform over the celestial sky to one percent or better. It is also necessary to limit to similar accuracy systematic uncertainty in the calibrated broadband magnitudes due to uncertainty in the spectrum of the source. Here we present a "Forward Global Calibration Method (FGCM)" for photometric calibration of the DES, and we present results of its application to the first three years of the survey (Y3A1). The FGCM combines data taken with auxiliary instrumentation at the observatory with data from the broad-band survey imaging itself and models of the instrument and atmosphere to estimate the spatial- and time-dependence of the passbands of individual DES survey exposures. "Standard" passbands are chosen that are typical of the passbands encountered during the survey. The passband of any individual observation is combined with an estimate of the source spectral shape to yield a magnitude mbstdm_b^{\mathrm{std}} in the standard system. This "chromatic correction" to the standard system is necessary to achieve sub-percent calibrations. The FGCM achieves reproducible and stable photometric calibration of standard magnitudes mbstdm_b^{\mathrm{std}} of stellar sources over the multi-year Y3A1 data sample with residual random calibration errors of σ=56mmag\sigma=5-6\,\mathrm{mmag} per exposure. The accuracy of the calibration is uniform across the 5000deg25000\,\mathrm{deg}^2 DES footprint to within σ=7mmag\sigma=7\,\mathrm{mmag}. The systematic uncertainties of magnitudes in the standard system due to the spectra of sources are less than 5mmag5\,\mathrm{mmag} for main sequence stars with 0.5<gi<3.00.5<g-i<3.0.Comment: 25 pages, submitted to A

    Photometric redshifts and clustering of emission line galaxies selected jointly by DES and eBOSS

    We present the results of the first test plates of the extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey. This paper focuses on the emission line galaxies (ELG) population targetted from the Dark Energy Survey (DES) photometry. We analyse the success rate, efficiency, redshift distribution, and clustering properties of the targets. From the 9000 spectroscopic redshifts targetted, 4600 have been selected from the DES photometry. The total success rate for redshifts between 0.6 and 1.2 is 71\% and 68\% respectively for a bright and faint, on average more distant, samples including redshifts measured from a single strong emission line. We find a mean redshift of 0.8 and 0.87, with 15 and 13\% of unknown redshifts respectively for the bright and faint samples. In the redshift range 0.6<z<1.2, for the most secure spectroscopic redshifts, the mean redshift for the bright and faint sample is 0.85 and 0.9 respectively. Star contamination is lower than 2\%. We measure a galaxy bias averaged on scales of 1 and 10~Mpc/h of 1.72 \pm 0.1 for the bright sample and of 1.78 \pm 0.12 for the faint sample. The error on the galaxy bias have been obtained propagating the errors in the correlation function to the fitted parameters. This redshift evolution for the galaxy bias is in agreement with theoretical expectations for a galaxy population with MB-5\log h < -21.0. We note that biasing is derived from the galaxy clustering relative to a model for the mass fluctuations. We investigate the quality of the DES photometric redshifts and find that the outlier fraction can be reduced using a comparison between template fitting and neural network, or using a random forest algorithm

    Probing BFKL Dynamics in the Dijet Cross Section at Large Rapidity Intervals in ppbar Collisions at sqrt{s}=1800 and 630 GeV

    Inclusive dijet production at large pseudorapidity intervals (delta_eta) between the two jets has been suggested as a regime for observing BFKL dynamics. We have measured the dijet cross section for large delta_eta in ppbar collisions at sqrt{s}=1800 and 630 GeV using the DO detector. The partonic cross section increases strongly with the size of delta_eta. The observed growth is even stronger than expected on the basis of BFKL resummation in the leading logarithmic approximation. The growth of the partonic cross section can be accommodated with an effective BFKL intercept of a_{BFKL}(20GeV)=1.65+/-0.07.Comment: Published in Physical Review Letter

    Search for Large Extra Dimensions in Dielectron and Diphoton Production

    We report a search for effects of large extra spatial dimensions in ppbar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.8 TeV with the DZero detector, using events containing a pair of electrons or photons. The data are in good agreement with the expected background and do not exhibit evidence for large extra dimensions. We set the most restrictive lower limits to date, at the 95% confidence level, on the effective Planck scale between 1.0 TeV and 1.4 TeV for several formalisms and numbers of extra dimensions.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures, submitted to Phys.     Spin Correlation in tt-bar Production from pp-bar Collisions at sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV

    The D0 collaboration has performed a study of spin correlation in tt-bar production for the process tt-bar to bb-bar W^+W^-, where the W bosons decay to e-nu or mu-nu. A sample of six events was collected during an exposure of the D0 detector to an integrated luminosity of approximately 125 pb^-1 of sqrt{s}=1.8 TeV pp-bar collisions. The standard model (SM) predicts that the short lifetime of the top quark ensures the transmission of any spin information at production to the tt-bar decay products. The degree of spin correlation is characterized by a correlation coefficient k. We find that k>-0.25 at the 68% confidence level, in agreement with the SM prediction of k=0.88.Comment: Submitted to PRL, Added references, minor changes to tex

    Differential Production Cross Section of Z Bosons as a Function of Transverse Momentum at sqrt{s}=1.8 TeV

    We present a measurement of the transverse momentum distribution of Z bosons produced in ppbar collisions at sqrt{s}=1.8 TeV using data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider during 1994--1996. We find good agreement between our data and a current resummation calculation. We also use our data to extract values of the non-perturbative parameters for a particular version of the resummation formalism, obtaining significantly more precise values than previous determinations.Comment: 10 pages, 2 figures, submitted to Phys.
