Goals/questions/metrics method and SAP implementation projects
During the last years some researchers have studied the critical success factors (CSFs) in ERP implementations.
However, until now, no one has studied how these CSFs should be put in practice to help organizations achieve success
in ERP implementations. This technical research report attempts to define the usage of Goals/Questions/Metrics (GQM)
approach in the definition of a measurement system for ERP implementation projects. GQM approach is a mechanism for
defining and interpreting operational, measurable goals. Lately, because of its intuitive nature the approach has
gained widespread appeal. We present a metrics overview and a description of GQM approach. Then we provide an example
of GQM application for monitoring sustained management support in ERP implementations. Sustained management support
is the most cited critical success factor in ERP implementation projects.Postprint (published version
Organizational and national issues of an ERP implementation in a Portuguese company
This technical research report describes a case
of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation in
a Portuguese SME. We focused on the identification of
organizational factors that affect the ERP implementation
project. We also analyzed the ERP implementation project
from a national cultural perspective using Geert Hofstede's
dimensions. These dimensions were used to explain some of
the attitudes and behaviours during the ERP implementation
project. The findings suggest that some of the problems in
ERP implementation projects are not of technological nature
but may be attributed to organizational factors while some
issues related to national culture.Postprint (published version
A Framework proposal for monitoring and evaluating training in ERP implementation project
During the last years some researchers have studied the topic of critical success factors in ERP implementations, out of which 'training' is cited as one of the most ones. Up to this moment, there is not enough research on the management and operationalization of critical success factors within ERP implementation projects.Postprint (published version
Using the partial least squares (PLS) method to establish critical success factor interdependence in ERP implementation projects
This technical research report proposes the usage of a statistical approach named Partial
Least squares (PLS) to define the relationships between critical success factors for ERP
implementation projects. In previous research work, we developed a unified model of
critical success factors for ERP implementation projects. Some researchers have
evidenced the relationships between these critical success factors, however no one has
defined in a formal way these relationships. PLS is one of the techniques of structural
equation modeling approach. Therefore, in this report is presented an overview of this
approach. We provide an example of PLS method modelling application; in this case we
use two critical success factors. However, our project will be extended to all the critical
success factors of our unified model. To compute the data, we are going to use PLS-graph
developed by Wynne Chin.Postprint (published version
Exports and domestic demand pressure: a dynamic panel data model for the euro area countries
The paper investigates the link between domestic demand pressure and exports by considering an error correction dynamic panel model for eleven euro area countries over the last two decades. The results sug- gest that there is a statistically signi cant substitution e ect between domestic and foreign sales. Furthermore, this relationship appears to be asymmetric, as the link is much stronger when domestic demand falls than when it increases. Weakness in the domestic market trans- lates into increased e orts to serve markets abroad, but, conversely, during times of boom, exports are not negatively a ected by increas- ing domestic sales. This reorientation towards foreign markets was particularly important during the crisis period, and thus could rep- resent a new adjustment channel to strong negative domestic shocks. The results have important policy implications, as this substitution ef- fect between domestic and external markets might allow the euro area countries under stress to improve their trade outcomes with a relatively small downward pressure on domestic prices
Field and experimental data indicate that the eastern cottontail (Sylvilagus floridanus) is susceptible to infection with European brown hare syndrome (EBHS) virus and not with rabbit haemorrhagic disease (RHD) virus
This is an Open Access article distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License.-- et al.The eastern cottontail (Sylvilagus floridanus) is an American lagomorph. In 1966, it was introduced to Italy, where it is currently widespread. Its ecological niche is similar to those of native rabbits and hares and increasing overlap in distribution brings these species into ever closer contact. Therefore, cottontails are at risk of infection with the two lagoviruses endemically present in Italy: Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease virus (RHDV) and European Brown Hare Syndrome Virus (EBHSV). To verify the susceptibility of Sylvilagus to these viruses, we analyzed 471 sera and 108 individuals from cottontail populations in 9 provinces of north-central Italy from 1999 to 2012. In total, 15-20% of the cottontails tested seropositive for EBHSV; most titres were low, but some were as high as 1/1280. All the cottontails virologically tested for RHDV and EBHSV were negative with the exception of one individual found dead with hares during a natural EBHS outbreak in December 2009. The cottontail and the hares showed typical EBHS lesions, and the EBHSV strain identified was the same in both species (99.9% identity). To experimentally confirm the diagnosis, we performed two trials in which we infected cottontails with both EBHSV and RHDV. One out of four cottontails infected with EBHSV died of an EBHS-like disease, and the three surviving animals developed high EBHSV antibody titres. In contrast, neither mortality nor seroconversion was detected after infection with RHDV. Taken together, these results suggest that Sylvilagus is susceptible to EBHSV infection, which occasionally evolves to EBHS-like disease; the eastern cottontail could therefore be considered a >spill over> or > dead end > host for EBHSV unless further evidence is found to confirm that it plays an active role in the epidemiology of EBHSV.Peer Reviewe
